The first talk in the series 'Israel, the Church & the Kingdom of God' (abbreviated ICKG). Maurice starts off this series addressing principles, which many Christians overlook. The fact that the whole creation, including the devil, have been created as a part of God's glorious plan, and that this plan is motivated solely by love and a desire for family life.

Viewing different scriptures in the Old Testament under the context of 'the way things were' regarding marriage, Maurice examines how God chose Israel as his wife - as a peculiar people who would serve him, and whom he would love. Delivering them from Egypt, it was God's intention to woo them, and prepare a place -- Jerusalem - where both he and they would dwell together in happiness.

For their sins, God put Judah into Babylon for 70 years as punishment, also purifying his land, for Israel had not kept the Sabbaths. God handed the kingdom of Israel over to Nebuchadnezzar, the king of Babylon, and although she partly came back after the 70 years, she has remained in 'spiritual' Babylon ever since.

Israel were pure when God brought them out of Egypt, and in the wilderness, God established a covenant between them - the marriage contract. At the dedication of his temple in the reign of Solomon, the marriage was consummated when God physically entered the most holy 'private' part of Israel. Sadly, this did not last for long, as Israel found other lovers, and defiled herself with them. B...

A subject also used in other series', Maurice teaches of how Jesus, the son of God, is the prophet, priest and king of Israel: not at the same time, but in three dispensations and in three separate stages of his role as the son of God.

In this talk, Maurice teaches that, in the same way God made a covenant with Israel, Jesus has made a new covenant with his bride. But it is not a separate covenant - it is a new covenant, meaning that it is with the same people; otherwise the old covenant would still apply. Jesus has called from amongst God's people a bride with whom he will complete the cycle of God's family plan.

When Jesus came to the earth, the message he preached was a simple one: Repent, for the kingdom is at hand. When examined, all Jesus' teaching is based upon the subject of the coming kingdom, whether told in parables or plain instructions of how to live whilst waiting for it.

Maurice starts off the third phase of this series, this time focusing on the early church, by looking at what these common fishermen and tax-collectors had that was so special. So soon after they had seen the risen Christ, they fully understood what was in them - the first fruits of the kingdom and the first resurrection.

In this study, Maurice explains the fundamental difference between the kingdom and eternal life. Whilst many Christians consider the kingdom of heaven to be living on some fairytale planet in paradise, they forget that a kingdom will be established upon this earth for a thousand years when Jesus returns.
