Poverty can have a grip on its victims. When prosperity seems close for those living in poverty, some unforeseen obstacles often arise to thwart even their best plans. There are no quick and easy answers for escaping poverty, but here is a proven strategy for freedom from poverty. Deliverance begins with destroying the roots of persistent poverty and debt that bind and then making radical changes in lifestyle. Major root-causes of persistent poverty and debt include greed, pride, poverty spirit and generational curses. As long as the roots are not destroyed, the person will continue to encounter financial problems. Many of these roots cannot be dealt with effectively through natural means. The roots have to be addressed in the spiritual realm with the help of the Lord. Once the roots are identified and brought into the light by the Holy Spirit, they can be destroyed. Let the Holy Spirit search your heart to see if these roots or any others are keeping you in financial bondage. The roots of poverty and debt have to be destroyed before you can walk in financial freedom
Important changes in lifestyle have to be made to escape persistent poverty and debt. A poor man is poor because he does not heed instructions and make radical changes in his life that are needed to come out of poverty (Proverbs 13:1, 8). People who do not follow instructions keep doing the same things and therefore remain poor. Correction may not be pleasant, but it can change your life and your situation (Hebrews 12:11). However, correction will change situations only if it is heeded. Believers who want the true riches will listen to and heed correction and change their situation. Correction brings believers to a position in which they can prosper. Develop the godly relationships that will help you prosper in every area of your life. Then let spiritual people speak into your life. Open yourself up to the Lord and his spiritual people so that your life can be significantly changed. Let the Lord search your heart for everything that hinders your spiritual progress, and then follow his plan for your life.
