Description: Nov 24, 2006 Judith Irene Matta, MTh, chronicles the historical
journey of Christs Church from Jerusalem to Constantinople and
monastic settlements like Mt. Sinais St. Catherines; the second
segment contains excerpts from a recent visit of Jerusalem
Patriarchates representative to America, Archbishop Damaskinos, to
his parishes; an interesting look at the family-style Orthodox
Christian Divine Liturgy allowing expression of (in this case) Arab
culture and language which reflects theJerusalem community; the last
segment continues historical comments on the rise of Charlemagnes
Frankish Church, and the crusades allowing the eventual Moslem
defeat of Constantinople. The scholarly source for this history is
Dr. John Romanides, recently reposed classical language professor
and Orthodox theologian. A free copy of this video is available
(DVD/VCR); the Mission website presents Orthodox booklets, videos
and information for those interested in the Ancient Orthodox
Christian Faith presenting the fullness of the Gospel of Christ to
our modern world.
