classic cinema tv fans this is jason lockhart here with you once again bringing you another retro drive-in podcast and uh today we are talking about some brand new releases from Warner Archive, Warner Brothers, and Universal. I mean, it's just, we got a big, huge stack of new releases here, and this is pretty, pretty cool. So the whole episode today is just going to be looking at brand new releases from all these companies. This is pretty, pretty cool. So we're going to leave the Warner Archive stuff to last because it's pretty awesome. All right, but let's jump right into it. All right, first off from Universal, I've been watching this on Peacock Network, and it is the series La Brea. This is a really interesting series. This is about some sinkholes that open up and transport people through time into the past, into the prehistoric times, if you will. And it is so interesting. And the interesting thing about it is there is something much more than just a time travel thing and being like Land of the Lost, if you will. It's much deeper than that. There's sinister people behind this whole thing, and it is so interesting. I've been really enjoying checking this out. So this is pretty cool to see this, to see the way this is. We're looking forward to season three. This is the complete second season on Blu-ray. This is where it really begins to amp up. Season one was a little slow. Season two really began to amp up the story. And right now we're at a cliffhanger at the end of season two. So it's going to be interesting to see what happens. This is your – those of you that are watching the video can see it. If you're listening, you can't see the Blu-ray cover. But anyway, on the inside of the Blu-ray cover insert, you got all the episodes listed out. So that's pretty cool. All 14 episodes are included on three discs, making for really, really good quality. I am positive. We'll have a full written review of La Brea Season 2 coming up at Classic Cinema Plus as soon as we go through all of that and see what the transfers look like. So we've already seen the second season, so we'll check out the transfers and let you know what it looks like. But that is pretty cool. La Brea Season 2. All right. Also now into the Warner Brothers releases. Warner Brothers have the rights to all the DC characters, and we been seeing a lot of interesting DC movies and DC TV series and all that type of stuff And one of them is the series Stargirl Stargirl has finished its run and this is the third and final season now on DVD from Warner Brothers Pretty awesome. Yeah, this is pretty cool. Kind of a simplistic discs, just blue with white lettering. Okay, but nothing wrong with that. We'll give you a little something about it. Okay, following high school student Courtney Whitmore, along with her stepfather, Pat Dugan, as she leads an unlikely group of young heroes to take on the legacy of DC's very first superhero team, the Justice Society of America. The final season finds Starman back from the dead and offering to train Courtney while she helps him adjust to his new life in the quiet town of Blue Valley. Very, very cool. So, yeah, I always loved the Justice Society comics. So, yeah, this is really, really cool to see this. So, loving that. Can't wait to go through all of the third and final season and check it out and see what the transfers look like and everything. That is going to be so, so cool. Love me some superhero stuff. Of course, as you can tell, if you're watching the video, you can see I got my Superman shirt on. And I also have the Superman hat on. So anyway, I'm messing up my hair doing that. Anyway, but there you go. So, yeah, Stargirl, the third and final season. Very awesome. All right, now to Warner Archive. Yes, please. Let's see some Warner Archive releases. I have been enjoying Warner Archive for so long. Getting to review some of what Warner Archive does is just amazing. And we have been seeing some amazing things from, like, Looney Tunes. We've been seeing some amazing stuff like releases of James Cagney films to some of the old classic horror films with Boris Karloff. Spencer Tracy, Dr. Deco and Mr. Hyde, just amazing things. And so the next three that we're going to be reviewing here at Classic Cinema Plus are pretty, pretty cool. First off, we got Stuart Granger and Deborah Kerr in this one, King Solomon's Mines. I have not seen this film since I saw it on Turner Classic Movies, oh, so, so many years ago. I can't wait to check this thing out again. I really forgot how cool it was. I mean, it's been a long time since I've seen this film. So to see it again is going to be pretty awesome. Yeah, I love it. I love it. King Solomon's Mines. this is pretty awesome Warner Archive has given us some special features here including the theatrical trailer and an vintage MGM behind short subject jungle safari That is so cool. Love that. So, yeah, there is the look at the disc if you're watching the video. And, yeah, pretty awesome stuff. King Solomon's Mines. Yes, that's going to be awesome. I remember watching reruns of Yogi Bear for years and years, and this was Yogi's very first feature-length film. What? This is, hey there, it's Yogi Bear. This is the very first Yogi Bear film, and now it's on Blu-ray? Oh, my goodness. You have got to be kidding me. This is so cool. When I saw that they were releasing Yogi Bear's first film, Hey There, It's Yogi Bear, I was like, wow, we are living in a cool time. We're living in a cool time. Warner Archive Collection releasing Hey There, It's Yogi Bear on Blu-ray. We are living in an awesome time, people. This is cool. This is really cool. Yeah, special features include Yogi's birthday party episode from the Yogi Bear show. Yes, and the theatrical trailer of Hey There, It's Yogi Bear. I love the fact that they're giving us an episode of the Yogi Bear show. I think that's so cool, man. This is really awesome. Yeah, spring is in the air. Love is in bloom for Cindy Bear. When Yogi Bear plays Robin Hood, Ranger Smith ships him away from Jelly Spone Park to the San Diego Zoo. Cindy hitches a ride to find Yogi in California and ends up captive in Missouri. and Yogi and Bugu rushed to her rescue. That is so cool. Oh, I can't wait for this. I can't wait to check this one out. This is so cool. Hey there, it's Yogi Bear. So awesome. That is cool. That is so cool. All right. And then finally, I remember having this on, I know this is going to sound really crazy. I remember having this on a VHS tape. Long before – well, not long before. It was actually when I was starting to collect. I started collecting. I was behind times. I was a young kid collecting all VHS tapes because VHS was going out, and they were getting so cheap, and so I was, like, collecting every VHS tape I could find. People were throwing them out, and I was grabbing them, you know, and I had a big, huge amount of VHS tapes until we started moving to DVD, and then we started buying DVDs and Blu-rays and all that type of stuff. But anyway but I remember having this film on a VHS tape and never dreaming that it would ever come to this but now we having it on Blu This is so cool This is Glenn Ford Shirley Jones and Ron Howard a very very young Ron Howard I mean a kid. I mean a child, Ron Howard. I'm talking about Opie from the Andy Griffith Show, Ron Howard. Yeah, we're talking about the courtship of Eddie's father. That is so cool. Look at that. That's pretty cool. That's pretty cool. I love that. Who will be the next Mrs. Cole? Will it be a chic designer? The Miss Montana pageant hopeful? The headstrong lady across the hall? It's a big decision for any boy to make for his recently widowed dad. Like father, like son, you'll like them both when renowned child actor Ronnie Howard portrays Eddie and Glenn Ford as his dad. That is pretty cool. I love it. I love it. I cannot believe this has actually got a Blu-ray release. This is so cool. When I saw that Warner Archive was releasing this on Blu-ray, I was like really excited. I mean really excited because I love this film and to see it on Blu-ray now is going to be amazing. We got special features include a feature commentary by Shirley Jones, Dinah Murrell, and Stella Stevens. Vintage MGM cartoon, Penthouse Mouse. Love it when they do the cartoons on here. I think that's pretty cool. And the theatrical trailer. The trailer and the cartoon really makes it feel like something like going back to the movies. I just love that. This is going to be pretty awesome. Courtship of Eddie's father. Very, very cool. Yeah, this is a pretty good, amazing amount of stuff sent to us here. I am absolutely loving this. So yeah, Warner Archive, three new releases, Stargirl from Warner Brothers and La Brea from Universal Pictures. Pretty cool. Season two of La Brea. Pretty cool. That is some awesome stuff.
