Throughout history, people have asked what the future holds. The Bible answers with prophecy — God revealing His plans in advance so that His people can trust Him and live ready. A large portion of Scripture is prophetic, and much of it points to one glorious event: the return of Jesus Christ.
This page explores what Bible prophecy is, why it matters, the key prophetic books, and the hope of Christ’s return. Every sermon on UltimateTube is 100% free to watch and share — no paywall, no subscription, no login.
Bible prophecy is God speaking about the future in advance — not to satisfy curiosity, but to reveal His character and His plan so His people can trust Him. Hundreds of prophecies in the Old Testament were fulfilled in the first coming of Jesus, which gives us confidence in the prophecies still to come. Prophecy shows that history is not random; it is moving toward God’s purposes.
Studying prophecy strengthens faith and hope. It reminds us that God is sovereign over the chaos of the world, that evil will be judged, and that Jesus will reign. Rather than stirring fear, sound prophetic teaching produces watchfulness, holiness, and expectancy. As Jesus taught in Matthew 24, we are to be ready and faithful, because we do not know the day or hour.
Two books stand at the center of end-times study. The Book of Daniel unveils God’s plan over the rise and fall of empires and points to the coming Kingdom. The Book of Revelation reveals the victory of Jesus Christ and the final triumph of God over evil, closing with a new heaven and new earth. Isaiah, Ezekiel, and Jesus’ own words in the Gospels add rich prophetic detail.
The great hope of prophecy is the second coming of Jesus. He promised, “I will come back and take you to be with me” (John 14:3), and at His ascension the angels declared He would return in the same way He left (Acts 1:11). Revelation 21:4 describes the world He will bring: “He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain.” This is the future believers await.
Prophecy is intensely practical. Because Jesus is coming, we are called to live holy, hopeful, and mission-minded lives — sharing the gospel, loving others, and remaining faithful. End-times teaching should never leave us anxious, but anchored in the God who holds the future. For related encouragement, see Bible verses about hope.
