Thank you. I know one who really cares. So one day at a time, no matter what's from my way. I'm not giving up for it, no matter what others say. With the Lord at my side, I'm never alone. I'm destined to win. So step by step, I'll take it. One day at a time. Hey, Pastor Jay here once again. Jason LeBaron, back with you again with my video blog. This was an interesting week for me. It all started with a phone call I got from my mentor that set off a chain of events that would have me changing who I am. Hello, Pastor Edwards. How's retirement treating you, sir? I guess it's okay for old people, but I'm only 83 years old. I'm too young for retirement. Well, you know what, sir? I tell you, you've worked so hard for the Lord over your years, you know, working in the church world as well as in the college realm, and you've given so much to the Lord. You know what? But I really think now is your time just to sit back, relax, and enjoy your retirement. I really do. Enjoy? Enjoy what? Sitting on the porch and rocking my life away? I'm useless. Oh, sir, you're not useless. You would never be useless. Absolutely not. You know, I think your job now, sir, is to give us younger guys a lot of your knowledge. I mean, you are so knowledgeable, sir. You've got so much knowledge in the Word of God, and you help us younger guys so much. You know, I know the very first, anytime I have a problem with the Word of God or I need some answers, you're the very first one I call, sir, all the time. But that's not preaching the Word that Jesus commanded us to do. You know, I was thinking I want to come and visit my favorite student and listen to him preach. You, Jason. Uh, uh, well, uh, you, uh, well, uh. You're stammering, Jason. Why don't you want me to come and visit you? No, no, no, sir. No, sir. Of course you're more than welcome to come and visit any time at all, sir. Any time. Good. Well, then I'll see you this Sunday. Uh, this Sunday? This Sunday, sir? Well, what, this Sunday's not good for you? Well, no, no, I mean, no, that would be fine, sir. Would you, well, would you like to preach? No, I want to hear if my favorite student has learned from what I taught him. Uh, well, sir, I mean, let's be honest, I can't live up to what you've done over the years, but I can do my best. I mean, that's all I can do. Well, I will see you this Sunday then. Yes, sir. Well, I will be so happy to see you, sir. It'll be a pleasure. Okay. Blessings. Okay. Well, you have a blessed day, sir, and I will see you this Sunday. Okay. Goodbye. Goodbye, sir. Bye. Now, I know what everyone's thinking. Why are you upset having your mentor come and visit you? Well, you have to understand, at seminary, Dr. Edwards never saw me in anything but a suit and a tie. That's probably the reason why I don't wear it anymore, because I had to at school. Dr. Edwards is an old school type preacher, and I feel he gonna be disappointed in a way I can always count on Ms Jones She helps me out She always has an answer to the question and a solution for the problem But her solution for the problem was not quite what I expected. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. New Christian Drawing the way The road gets tough For every day A word of encouragement Keep pressing on Just look up and he'll make you strong. Don't give up, keep pressing on. He'll fill your cup and you can go along. The devil is a wily foe. But every time you resist, your spirit grows Christian saint, you wrote out the tithe And you've done it with God by your side Well, your strength seems almost gone Well, just remember the darkest night There's always a dawn Don't give up, keep pressing on He'll fill your cup and you can go along. The devil is a wild and bold. But every time you resist his spirit grows don give up keep pressing on it fill your cup you can go along the devil is a wild and bold Every time you resist, your spirit grows. It never ends, a while it grows. Every time you resist, your spirit grows. Well, I guess we're ready for church. What happened to the suit? Uh, you know what, Ms. Jones? I guess what it comes down to is I, out of all this week, I came to one realization. No matter what people think, no matter what people like or don't like, I gotta be me. That's something. What? I could have told you that. Then why didn't you tell me that? Why did you put me through all this this week? Why didn't you tell me that from the beginning? Because everybody's got to find it out for themselves. You could have helped me a little bit here. You could have helped me just a little bit and told me that, but instead of putting me through all this. But you had to find it out for yourself. You wouldn't have believed me. Thanks a lot, Miss Jones. Thanks a lot, Miss Jones. I appreciate it. You're a lot of help this week. Thank you so much. I'm going out to the church. You got the message? Good boy. When I entered the sanctuary, I was met by my mentor, Dr. Jeremiah Edwards. This man was so much a man of God that we at the seminary thought that one day he would just be like Enoch, just walk up into heaven. I never saw Dr. Edwards without a beautiful custom made suit on. Never. Not once. So I was looking for Dr. Edwards when he saw me to faint. But instead, I almost fainted when I saw my mentor, Dr. Jeremiah Edwards, coming towards me with jeans and a t-shirt on. Not a custom-made suit, jeans and a t-shirt. He grabbed me in a great big bear hug and he told me how glad he was to see me. and never once said anything about clothes. You know, it was once said, you can't judge a book by its cover. And I believe that now more than ever. I just wanted to just take this moment this morning before we get started to just say, you know, I want to welcome my college professor. He was our professor at seminary, Reverend Jeremiah Edwards. Dr. Jeremiah Edwards, we thank you, sir, for joining us today. And wow, such an amazing thing. You know, at 83 years of age, and he doesn't look it, but at 83 years of age, you would never realize that today this man taught me probably one of my greatest lessons. And he probably doesn't even realize he did it. But sir, I'll tell you about it later and I just want to thank you for teaching me a great lesson today. Let's start the worship off this morning and let's worship Jesus this morning here in his house. Join in with us in worship. You know, at 83 years of age, my mentor still was teaching me something. And you know what? And that's what it's all about. And he taught me something very interesting. from Psalm 139 in verse 14 The Bible says I will praise thee for I am fearfully and wonderfully made And that is so true God made us who we are We don't have to fear what we are. God made us the way we are. The way, our way of style, the things we like. As long as it's not a sinful thing, he made us that way. We don't have to worry about it because God has made us that way. God makes no mistakes. He made us the way we are. I love what Jeremiah the prophet said. He said, because God told him these words, and he wrote it down in his book, in Jeremiah 1 and verse 5, when God spoke to Jeremiah, he said, Before I formed thee in the belly, I knew thee. And before thou camest forth out of the womb, I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations. God has a plan for each and every one of us. A plan that is so unique. A plan that is so special. He doesn't want to change who you are. He just wants to take what you are And make it into the likeness of God I've always been this way my whole life For me, it was just changing my desires a little bit To be Christ-like To be a follower of God And that's what God wants to do We need to learn to be ourselves That's exactly what this week was all about for me Learning to be myself Not worrying about what people think, what others think. Worrying about what God thinks. Because God is truly the only one that matters. If we make God happy, that's all that matters. Because you're not going to make the whole world happy, no matter what you do. You cannot please the entire world. You're not going to be able to do it. It's just not going to work. You cannot please the entire world. but if you please God that's all that matters and let me tell you being yourself just saying Lord I'm going to be myself and I'm going to put you first and just do what I can and just be myself God is going to be satisfied with you and that's all we can ask I want my Lord to be satisfied with me that's what we need to be We need to let the Lord be satisfied with us. Let Him be first and foremost in our life. And when we do that, everything else is just cool. 1 Timothy chapter 4 and verse 4 says, For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it is received with thanksgiving. God has made you and he wants you to come to him and accept him accept that gift that he gave at Calvary will you accept that gift of him if you haven't it will be the greatest thing you have ever done in your life Pastor Jay is out of time this time one more time but we want to remember that we love you but most importantly of all we want you to remember that God loves you He really does. He wants you to just be yourself and put him first. Until next time, Pastor Jay saying goodbye, God bless. We'll see you next week. Bye, everybody. I know one who really cares So one day at a time No matter what's from my way I'm not giving up for it No matter what others say With the Lord at my side I'm never alone I'm destined to win So step by step I'll take it one day at a time. One day at a time. One day at a time. One day at a time. One day at a time.
