Hey everyone, hope you're having a good day. We just got a new package here from Warner Archive just a couple seconds ago and we're going to do a quick unboxing here, see what's coming to Classic Cinema Magazine here for August. We got two releases in here. We kind of already know what it is, but we'll unbox it together anyway. We got a Blu-ray and we got a DVD and I'm excited about both of these. Very, very cool releases. Let's start off with this one, the Blu-ray. Here it is. We already know what this is, but this is really cool. Check it out. This is the original miniseries of V. I love this. Mankind's Last Stand. Very, very, very cool little miniseries. This is not the reboot series. We're opening it as we're going along here. But anyway, this is not the reboot series that was a few years ago. This actually is the original series from the 80s, or the original miniseries, I should say, from the 80s. There was this series, there was a second Final Battle series and then there was a TV series, a short-lived TV series that followed after that. But this is brand new Blu-ray. Restored Blu-ray. Looking at this, it looks pretty cool. We got feature length commentary with writer Kenneth Johnson behind documentary on this Blu release Very very cool The Blu is very standard It's not really any different from what the front cover art is, but that's okay. The major thing is to have this on Blu-ray in high definition. Yeah, this is really cool. So yeah, I'm looking forward to revisiting V now on Blu-ray in high definition. Hopefully this is a very, very good transfer. I'm sure it will be. Warner Archive does great stuff. So yeah, looking forward to that. V, the original miniseries. We're going to review this on classiccinemamagazine.blogspot.com. as well as we'll talk about this on a future podcast. We'll have, be sure to go to classiccinemamagazine.blogspot.com and be sure to find out where those podcasts are and sign up for them because we're going to be doing those more often here in the coming months. All right, we got one more release that came from Warner Archive and this one I'm very excited about because it stars one of my favorite actors of all time, comedians of all time. He is truly my, probably my favorite, if not my favorite, one of my, definitely one of my favorites. And this one I didn't have in my collection, and I am so glad I get to revisit it. I saw it a couple times on, I think, Turner Classic Movies and could never find it. so Warner Archive sent me a copy of this oh I tell you I'm so excited about this Jack Benny people my favorite George Washington slept here I love this film it is truly one of my favorites Jack Benny this film full disclosure this film kind of has a feel of Mr Blanding builds his dream house If you've ever seen Cary Grant in that film, it kind of has that same feel. Cary Grant is wanting to build this dream house, and every time he turns around, it's something else. Well, he's got to do this, he's got to do this, he's got to do this, he's got to do this. And it just becomes a money pit, if you will. And that's kind of what George Washington slept here is. Ann Sheridan, who plays Jack's wife, kind of wants to get this special colonial home where George Washington slept. And when they get there, they start finding more and more wrong with the house. And they kind of continually have to put more and more into it. And it's just a very, very funny film. In this film is also a very awesome actor, Percy Kilbride. He is in this film. And Percy Kilbride is probably best known for his role as Paw Kettle in the Paw Kettle series. Love that series. So he's kind of in this as well. This is a very, very awesome film, and I'm looking very forward to revisit this film in the very near future here in a couple days. Very, very cool stuff. Warner Archive also, just for a little news, Warner Archive has announced that they are releasing the original, complete first season of The Jetsons on Blu-ray. So you're definitely going to want to keep your eyes open for that. That's coming in the month of September. So mark your calendars. I believe I going to link to a news article that we wrote here in the comments so be sure to look at the complete thing there But I believe it is the 10th of September if I not mistaken If I am well just read the article The whole thing is there Every bit of details is there, but very, very cool stuff, so we're looking forward to that as well, but for the month of August, yeah, this is going to be awesome.
