This classic cinema rewind podcast. Once again, this is, of course, Pastor Jay here with you. And we thank you for joining us, whether you're listening to the podcast on the actual audio format or whether you're watching the video, whichever the case may be, We want to welcome you and thank you for tuning in. Today we're doing a different thing. We're talking the Marvel Cinematic Universe. We're jumping right into this because we want to do a quick recap about where we are in the Cinematic Universe. We're not going to spend a whole lot of time, but we're just going to talk a little bit about some of our favorites and kind of review it really fast. The Marvel Cinematic Universe started off with Iron Man. And what a beginning it really was. Who would have thought Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark? But man, was it amazing. Really, Robert Downey Jr. started this off. And if it wouldn't have been him, and I can't imagine anybody else really being Tony Stark now other than Robert Downey Jr. but wow, if this wouldn't have worked we wouldn't have got anything beyond that thankfully the first film was so spectacular and it still is amazing even to this day as I re-watch it, it's still amazing beyond that, right after that we got The Incredible Hulk and I'm not talking about Ang Lee's Hulk we don't really want to even talk about that it was amazing, Ang Lee's Hulk was amazing for the special effects and the thing that it was, but the story was so convoluted. Wow. We don't even want to talk about it. But Edward Norton was really good as Bruce Banner. I really enjoyed Edward Norton as Bruce Banner, but we don't have Edward Norton. We got Mark Ruffalo, and that's fine. After that, we got Iron Man 2. And not as strong a film as the first one, but okay. and who didn't love seeing Mickey Rourke? I love that. Beyond that, we got Thor and we finally got to take a trip to Asgard. Oh, what an amazing thing it was to finally see Asgard and see all these amazing characters that we read in the comics but never really got to see in cinematic form and what an amazing thing it was. Beyond that, we got Captain America, the first Avenger. I love this film. Still love this film to this day. I still say this is probably one of the, and this is totally my opinion. You may have a different opinion. That's fine. But I still say this is the best of the Marvel films. It's just a perfect mixture. You've got comedy. You've got drama. You've got action. You've got heart. You've got adventure. You've got everything right there. It's just a perfect, perfect mix. I love this film and still love it to this day. Right after that, we got our first ensemble movie. Wow, what an amazing thing. Marvel's the first, the Avengers. Seeing all the Avengers come together and fight evil, what an amazing thing. It really was a cinematic event. It was great. I enjoyed that, the Avengers, so much. Then we go to Iron Man 3. Again, not the most spectacular of sequels. And very few, very, very, very rare do we get a sequel that's better than the original. And Iron Man 3 wasn't better than the original. But it was okay. It was a good adventure. I didn't particularly care for the way they did the Ten Rings or the way they did Sir Ben Kingsley. making that character, you don't punk out Sir Ben Kingsley, in my opinion. But that's kind of what they did. They kind of made him a punk, and I didn't really care for that. But anyway, then from there we went to Thor Dark World. Not one of my favorite films in the cinematic universe, but it was still okay. It was okay. It was a good adventure, just not my favorite of the adventures. Then we go to many people's favorite Captain America film. Not my favorite. My favorite's the first, but, you know, if this is your favorite, that's great. Okay, Captain America, The Winter Soldier. Still a great film. A lot of intrigue, a lot of great stuff, a lot of good story, but I just like the first one better. That's just me. Then we went from this world into Galaxies Beyond with the Guardians of the Galaxy. Love this film. The very first film was just so spectacular. Seeing Groot and seeing Drax and seeing all of the Guardians of the Galaxy rocket. Seeing Star-Lord, seeing Gamora. I mean, all of these coming together was just an amazing adventure and I loved it. Loved every second of it. Loved everything. It was just the old music kind of going in. Just retro. Loved it. Every second of it was just amazing. Then we got our next Avengers film, Avengers Age of Ultron. Again, not going to happen that it's going to be better than the original. It's just not going to happen. But it was a good film. It was a very good produced film. Very good story. It's just not going to be as good as the original. in my opinion. From there we went to Ant And I glad they waited until 2015 to do Ant because I think if they would have tried to do Ant in 2008 the technology wasn quite there It would have come off very bad But by now, by 2015, the technology had really come into its own, and we can get that good CGI, and it works really well. And I loved Ant-Man. Of all of the Marvel cinema movies, I'm not going to say it's my favorite, but it's up there. Ant-Man is just that perfect mix. It's got comedy. It's got adventure. It's got heart. It's got a little bit of mix of everything. I just love that film so much. From there, we took a dark path, seeing our heroes all fighting over an interesting thing about the Sokovia Accords, which was really interesting with Captain America Civil War. And we see the darkness and the effects that happen when you fight evil. Very interesting, and I love that, seeing that. And granted, it's nothing like the comic books, but it's not going to be. And I understand that. Beyond that, we went to a reality trip with really altering our perception of reality with Doctor Strange. after watching this film I sat back and was in awe of what I had just watched and I had to re-watch it and I had to see it again and it was amazing re-watching it and seeing it again and I mean wow what an amazing film it truly was it was a trip and I loved it loved every second of it from there we went to Gardens of the Galaxy 2 and was not a fan of this it was a good film Let me, before anybody jumps on the bandwagon and starts hollering, I enjoyed the film. I just, I guess what I, I'm a comic book purist sometimes, so I don't particularly care for when they change the story that was made in the comics, and then they try to make it something else. I just didn't care for the storyline of Peter Quill's father in this one. It just ruined it for me, but that's me. If you enjoyed it, hey, then that's okay. We'll move on from there because I don't want to get into trouble with people. Beyond that, we got Spider-Man Homecoming, our very first chance to see Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. What an amazing thing it was. There was some adult themes in a film that dealt with teenagers that I just didn't think was necessary, but that's okay. We're not going to go deep into that. From there, Thor Ragnarok. Love this. I've been a big fan of the Planet Hulk series for a long time, comic book series. I loved that series and the depth of it. And then we got the animated film, and I was always hoping that someday we would get Planet Hulk on the big screen. That's never going to happen. So the closest we got was Thor Ragnarok. And I enjoyed Thor Ragnarok for what it was. Seeing all that we saw, I loved it. I enjoyed it, so yeah, it was pretty cool. Beyond that, we got Black Panther. loved Black Panther to take a trip to Wakanda and see all the amazing stuff that is created in Wakanda. It's just spectacular. Just amazing. From there we went to Avengers Infinity Wars and we saw with one simple snap of the finger, Thanos took half of our heroes away from us. And we didn't know what we were going to do. So, from there we got Ant-Man and the Wasp. Again, a sequel. Not as good as the original, but a necessary one for us to get to Endgame. Beyond that, we saw Captain Marvel. And I loved Captain Marvel. I loved that 80s retro feel that it brought. And it was just so cool. And that brings us to Endgame. Avengers Endgame and why is Endgame the end of the cinematic universe as we know it why? I'll let you know why I say this is the end of the cinematic universe as we know it right after this Free Movies and TV Produced by Pastor J at classiccinemamagazine.blogspot.com or at youtube.com slash therealpastorj. That, people, is what we call a hook in the broadcasting industry. We hook you to make you come back. But, yeah, we want to talk to you why we feel that Avengers Endgame is the end of the cinematic universe. For me, I think this was the perfect ending to the cinematic universe. Now, this is going to contain spoilers, so if some of you have never seen Endgame yet, you may not want to listen to this. You may not want to watch. I can't imagine anybody not seeing Endgame yet. But if perchance you haven't, you may not want to watch it any further. because we're going to talk spoilers here. But Endgame was the perfect mixture for me. It was a very long film, three hours long, very long, probably a little too long, actually, but that's for another video. But Endgame was a perfect mixture. And the reason I say this is the perfect ending to the cinematic universe is because I just think everything tied together and everything finished off in my opinion It really did When you look at it you see Peter Quill and his completion with Gamora You see Tony Stark. He's been chasing the idea of making up and doing something to make up for what he has done with the weapons manufacturing all these years. He did that by sacrificing himself for the greater good. What an amazing thing. That was the perfect conclusion there. We were heartbroken with Captain America, Steve Rogers, because he was in love with Peggy Carter for all those years. And he ends up being in the future, and he sacrificed himself, but he never got his happily ever after. Well, in Endgame, he got his happily ever after when he took that time machine, that time travel back to the past and fixed the whole thing. But he didn't come back as himself. He stayed in the past and returned as the old man that had spent his life with Peggy Carter. What an amazing thing. We have seen all this go forth. and we've seen this complete ending to the cinematic universe. Now, yes, a lot of you are going to say, well, this isn't the end of the cinematic universe, because, let's face it, Captain America passed on his shield to Sam. He's going to be the new Captain America. Well, you're right. There's going to be a new Iron Man. well not Iron Man, probably more apt Iron Woman. But anyway, so yeah, that's going to happen. And yes, Thor is going to go on and going to have more adventures. And we are going to see all these different things take place, yes. So is it the exact end of the cinematic universe? No. But for me, I say it is the perfect conclusion to the cinematic universe. To me, all of the stories that I had invested in for 10 years, over 10 years actually, have concluded. To me, it is a perfect conclusion. Now, this is interesting because a lot of people are going to continue on in this journey, and who knows? Who knows what I may do? I may go along for the ride. I don't know. But I do know this. I've been on this comic book ride for quite a long time, okay, in the cinema and in the TV. I've been watching all of the different movies in the TV series. I was one of the first. I was right there when Arrow debuted. and I know we're talking DC now but I'm drawing a parallel here in DC when Arrow debuted I started on this road with Arrow and I got to a point where I felt like the story had kind of run its course and I felt like it was a perfect conclusion for me you know what I did? I stopped watching because for me it was a perfect conclusion for Flash I had watched Flash for three, what was it, three seasons? Four seasons, three seasons, four seasons I don't know, I can't even remember now I can't even remember what it was it was four seasons, I think it was four seasons anyway, the four season was the perfect conclusion for me it just had run its course so I stopped watching when I was watching The Walking Dead I watched clear up right up until the war with the governor and when they had that final war with the governor and they finally eliminated the governor that felt to me like a perfect conclusion I stopped watching at that point because it was the perfect conclusion for me so for me this is a perfect conclusion I don't know if I want to go any further. Will I go further? Will I watch more? Possibly. But for me, I think it's a perfect conclusion. Now let's look at the upcoming releases. Some of these upcoming releases are kind of disappointing, shall I say. what we know we're getting from the new Marvel Phase 4 is we're getting a Black Widow movie now we know that Black Widow, spoiler dies in Endgame so this is going to be a prequel now I like Scarlett Johansson I think she did an amazing job as Black Widow I'm just not sure if I want to explore her life before becoming Black Widow as we know it. I don't know if I'm interested in that. We get the Eternals. Again, this is going to be another ensemble cast of superheroes. And I don't know that many people know much about the Eternals. I don't know how that's going to work out we're going to get Shang-Chi the Legend of the Ten Rings that's one that's kind of interesting to me but I don't know if I'm that interested to watch it I don't know we're going to get Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness now that one I may break down and watch just because of the Doctor Strange thing there. I don't know. We're going to get Thor, Love and Thunder. Interesting. I don't know if I'm that interested. Black Panther 2. Another adventure in Wakanda Yeah That good for what it is but I don know I don know And then Guardians of the Galaxy 3. After the debacle of Guardians of the Galaxy 2, I'm just not sure I'm that interested in Guardians of the Galaxy 3. This is my opinion. This is me. Now Disney Plus, Disney announced that they're going to do Disney Plus, a subscription-based service where you're going to get all kinds of fresh content. And some of the things they're going to do, they're going to give us WandaVision, a TV series, a Disney Plus series, shall I say, about the Scarlet Witch. We're going to get Miss Marvel series. We're going to get a Loki series. We're going to get a Hawkeye series. We're going to get a Moon Knight series. We're going to get a She-Hulk series. We're going to get a what if. What if all the different superheroes that you know and love didn't do what they did? What if so-and-so was evil? Or so on and so forth. I know what Marvel is doing, and I get it. I just feel with the ending of the 20th Century Fox and Disney-Marvel partnership, I just feel this is going to be the end of the cinematic universe as we know it. We're never going to get another Spider-Man film. So I just don't know. We'll be right back after this with a final thought. Now you can own the latest albums from singer-songwriter Jason Pastor J. Lockard. I thank Jesus, the healer, for saving my sinful soul. Streets of gold and a crystal sea, a man's in air awaiting me, and no more saying goodbye. By going to ClassicCinemaMagazine.blogspot.com A paradise beyond the sky Well, I want to thank you for joining me on this journey here on Classic Cinema Rewind. there's so much we could have talked about and of course we didn't we could have talked about the X-Men movies but that's not while they are connected to Marvel for the character's sake they're not Marvel films we could have talked about Logan a great film in the cinema but it's not connected to the cinematic universe the Deadpool movies again, not connected to the cinematic universe. And like I said, so many of the other Spider-Man films and everything, but they're not connected to the cinematic universe. And I think that is the thing that is the most disturbing to me about this whole thing with the Marvel Cinematic Universe. We thought we were getting something so spectacular when 20th Century Fox decided to join up with Marvel and to bring together this thing. And it was going to be amazing. That's why we got Spider-Man Homecoming and Far From Home and all this. And because of money. Because of a little bit of greed, I guess we should say. Everything dissolved. And what we built towards is gone. So we're not going to get any more Spider-Man in our cinematic universe. That's why this is over for me. We built towards something with Spider-Man. Being part of the Avengers, and now he just goes back to high school to be the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man again. After helping save the universe. How do we do that? I don't know. I just kind of feel this is the end of the cinematic universes as we know it because I have to be honest with you, these films that I see coming up, I don't see a lot of them that I'm that interested in. Are you interested in any of them? Well, let me know. Send me a message. I'd love to hear what you think about the upcoming cinematic universe. Is there anything there that you are interested in? do you feel that this is the end of the cinematic universe as we know it? I'd love to hear what you think.
