It's time now for the Classic Cinema Rewind with Pastor Jay. I'll see you back at the hot. Oh boy. Hey, don't be. Now join Pastor Jay as we rewind the tape. And enjoy some classic cinema. Hey everybody, welcome once again to this Classic Cinema Rewind Podcast. This, of course, is Pastor Jay here with you. And today we're taking an animation break. Yeah, we're going all in with animation today. And it's going to be a fun one. I've always been a fan of animation. As I got older, I loved animation as a kid, and then as I got older, I got away from animation, and it was like, ah, I'm too old for animation. I'm too old for cartoons. I'm too old for that type of stuff. And so I kind of got rid of a lot of my animation stuff and got rid of a lot of that stuff. And, you know, just to let you know, What we did was I started selling a lot of my animation because I got of the idea that I was too old for animation. I'm too old for cartoons. I'm too old for that type of stuff. And so I began to sell all my stuff. And then something very interesting happened. Just about probably a couple years ago, well, not even a couple years ago, probably just about a half a year ago, actually, I ran across something that was too good to pass up, and that was Shrek 2. That was only $1.50, brand new, sealed, and I was like, oh man, that's not bad. So I picked that up, and then as I picked that up, then I realized, yeah, but you sold Shrek 1. You don't have Shrek 3 and 4. And then I began to go, well, I'm going to have to get it then. So I ran across Shrek number one for only $2. So I was like, well, that's okay. So I'll get those two. Lo and behold, I watched the Shrek one and two yet again for the first time in a long time and fell back in love with it. And then it was like, okay, well, I got to get three. I got to get three. And lo and behold, I came across number three and then number four. And then that opened the floodgates. and I've been re-buying all my old animation for very, very cheap. That's kind of what we do. We're treasure hunters. We search the pawn shops. We search the bookstores. A lot of times our stores, the different stores like Dollar General, like Big Lots and different places, they put their DVDs on half price sales, and so we pick up a lot of those things. And so we've been getting all these back. Well, today we're talking animation, and our very major point of the animation is going to be a very special release from Warner Archive. I love the older animation. There's just something about that. Now, see, I'm not old enough to have remembered the old shows, the old animation from back in the day. I'm not a kid from the 60s and all. I'm not even a kid of the 70s. I'm, you know, so, you know, you really get down to it. Those older shows, I watch them on, like, Cartoon Network. And that's where I learned to love the old animation shows. One of my favorites was Wacky Races. I always loved that show. Just something cute about it. And always wanted to get a copy of it, but I could never find it. Until one time I went to our local Goodwill here recently and came across Wacky Races, the complete series, for only $3. and I was like, yes, finally. So that was just a little bit ago. And, you know, that's the thing. I'm getting back into the animation now. I'm getting to love the animation now. I'm starting to have, call that second childhood if you want to do that. I mean, that's fine. You can call it a second childhood. But, you know what, nothing wrong with that. You know, second childhood, you know, hey, keeps you young. Whatever keeps you young, whatever keeps you vibrant, whatever keeps your mind young, that's a good thing. So yeah, so anyway, so long story short, anyway, I'm not a kid of this era, but that doesn't mean I don't like it. And we're going to talk about the space age. We're going to talk about going above and beyond. We're going into the outer realms, and we're talking about the future. What are we talking about? Well, stay tuned. Right after this, we're going to reveal what we're talking about. Free movies and TV produced by Pastor Jay at classiccinemamagazine.blogspot.com or at youtube slash therealpastorj Now you can own the latest albums from singer Jason Pastor J Lockhart I thank Jesus, the healer, for saving my sinful soul. Streets of gold and a crystal sea A mansion there awaiting me And no more saying goodbye By going to classiccinemamagazine.blogspot.com A paradise beyond the sky All right, thank you for staying with us here on the Classic Cinema Magazine Rewind Podcast. We are talking today about an interesting little series. I love this series. This series is probably right up there with some of my favorites from Warner Brothers. But interestingly enough, this series only lasted one season. What am I talking about? I'm talking about the Jetsons. Okay, now a lot of people fail to realize that the Jetsons only lasted one season. They had one primetime season and that was it. and then they had a reboot, if you will. We've come to know it as reboots or revivals or whatever now in this generation, but in the 80s they brought it back. But this was the only season we really got was the Jetsons in the early 60s. Very, very cool show. 24 episodes was all this got. And I'm really shocked about this because the Flintstones and the Jetsons kind of ran almost together. You had the Flintstones and then you got the Jetsons. The Flintstones ran very long, yet the Jetsons only got one season. That was really strange to me. Probably the better of the two shows, if you're going to get down to brass tacks, probably is the Flintstones. and I think the reason that a lot of people consider The Flintstones a little more strong of a show, maybe it's not so much that it's a stronger show, but it has a feeling of a classic TV show. If you watch The Flintstones, The Flintstones basically is the Honeymooners in the prehistoric era. That's basically what it is. You got Fred and Wilma, you got Barney and Betty. And let's be honest, you had, what, Jackie Gleason, you had Ralph, if you will, and Alice and Trixie and Norton. And that was the whole thing, and they were always getting into trouble. Ralph and Norton were members of the Raccoon Lodge, and Fred and Barty were part of the Buffalo Lodge, if you remember. So yeah, it basically was the Honeymooners. And maybe that's why the Flintstones went across a little better. I don't know. But I always loved the Jetsons. I always enjoyed it. Well, Warner Archive has been doing a lot of made-on-demand stuff. And they've been restoring and remastering and digitizing a lot of their library of the older stuff. And man, when they came out and said they were going to do the Jetsons, I was like totally stoked. I was like on fire for this because I was like, you have got to be kidding me. The Jetsons, we're finally getting the Jetsons and we're getting the Jetsons on Blu-ray? Because see, I had a DVD copy of the Jetsons TV series and not the whole series. That's the sad part. I found one that only had about half of the season, half of the original season, but that's all I could find. So, you know, I pick it up. What can you do? But this is Blu-ray. This is the high-definition Blu-ray. This is the restored version, and it's like, you've got to be kidding me. So they came out with this, and I was like, I've got to check this out, you know. And I have to say, Warner Archive has done a tremendous job in digitizing this and remastering this and making this look so amazing. Is it perfect? Pretty close. there is maybe a slight little bit of specs or dirt or a little bit of archiving, just a little bit but nothing in comparison to the DVD that I have. I mean this thing looks absolutely 100% better than the DVD version that I have. I mean this is spectacular. It looks so cool. And I have to say the three disc set is so awesome. You got George Jetson on all three discs, which is okay. I don't have a problem with that. He's George Jetson, man. But anyway, they have all kinds of amazing bonus features on here. You got audio commentaries from Janet Waldo, who of course did the voice of Judy Jetson, which was very, very cool to hear that. They have all kinds of bonus features of featurettes about the Jetsons and all kinds of I mean it just amazing This release is spectacular I have to tell you if you a fan of that 60s animation and you a fan of the Jetsons you have got to get this copy of this Blu It is so worth it I mean, it is just, it really does look better than anything that you're going to find on a DVD. I mean, it just looks that much better. It is so worth it. So yeah, I definitely suggest anybody that likes the Jetsons, definitely go out and pick up the Jetsons on Blu-ray from Warner Archive. WBShop.com slash Warner Archive. It is definitely worth it. The Jetsons, how do you go wrong with the Jetsons? I mean, it's so cool. We're not done yet. Oh no, we're not done yet on this podcast. Not at all, because we still got some more Jetsons fun that we're going to talk about. What is it? Well, you've got to stay tuned. We'll be right back after this. By going to classiccinemamagazine.blogspot.com A paradise beyond the sky Alright, thanks for staying with us here on the Classic Cinema Rewind Podcast. we just finished talking about the Warner Archive release of the Blu-ray of the Jetsons, the original TV series a very, very cool release, if you've not checked this thing out, I do highly, highly suggest it, it is definitely worth checking out but we're not done talking Jetsons today, oh, not by a long shot we got two more releases we're going to talk about here on the Classic Cinema Rewind podcast As we are recording this, this is a very, very special day. We've had a pretty interesting day hunting. We have come across something that I didn't think we were ever going to be able to pick up. At our Dollar General, just today, we happened to walk into the Dollar General, had to pick up a couple things, and happened to walk by the DVD section, and lo and behold, it's a 50% off all DVDs. And I was like, ooh, well now. So I started looking through the DVDs and I came across a couple that I wanted to add and lo and behold, one of them was the Jetsons movie. Unbelievable. Now, of course, this movie was not produced at the same time as the original TV series. This is more of a contemporary take of the Jetsons in the movie format. And that's, you know, hey, it is what it is. We didn't get all kinds of Jetsons goodness back in the day. We just didn't. But this is something I couldn't pass up. Basically, this film here, this DVD here, costs about $3.50 at 50% off. So, I mean, hey, I'm not complaining. I mean, you know, to get the Jetsons movie for only $3 and something. I mean, you know, that's a pretty cool deal. This I do remember seeing, and the animation is just like it is on the TV series. I mean, it looks pretty much the same. You know, there is some differences here and there, but all in all, it's a very, very good film. I really enjoyed it, and I've always wanted to have it in my collection. And so, yeah, as we were going to record this podcast and we were going to talk about the Jetsons, just perchance, just because I guess the video gods, if you will, if you want to say it that way or whatever, smiled on us and happened to give us this that we can talk about today. That's why some things just work really good and you just accept it and you just thank God about it. But, yeah, The Jetsons movie is a very, very cool film. Really, really enjoyed this one, and I'm kind of glad I got it. Always wanted it. The DVD release, the DVD is not really what you call fancy-fancy. It's just blue. For those of you that are watching on the video, you can see this, but those of you that are listening on the podcast, you can't see it. But anyway, it's just a blue disc with what would look like silver lettering, but it's actually the DVD itself. But anyway, it looks really cool. George Jetson on the front cover, smiling away at you with his big schnoz. I love it. And it's just a beautiful release. I love this one so much. and it is a perfect companion piece, in my opinion, to the TV series. Now we got the TV series on Blu-ray, and we got the Jetsons movie on DVD on the collection. But you know what That wasn all Oh absolutely not Probably about two weeks ago during a hunt at our local Goodwill we ran across another Jetsons movie release Now, we may get a little flack from this one. There may be some of you that will sit there and say, That's not Jetsons! It's actually Jetsons. It's a Jetsons collaboration. it's a newer film yes, okay, we'll just tell you what it is and then we'll talk about it it is The Jetsons and WWE Robo Wrestlemania okay now I know some of you are going to sit here and throw fits and sit there and say, that's not Jetsons I know some of you are thinking that but literally this is a Jetsons movie whether you like it or not whether you want to accept it or not it is a Jetsons movie. It is. Okay. I kind of, after watching this, I have to say, I kind of enjoyed this. Now, is it the Jetsons that I remember watching on Cartoon Network? No. Is it the Jetsons even from that movie that we just talked about? No. But I thought it was a unique take. It was very cool to see Big Show, the original giant from WCW who became Big Show in WWE, kind of being the comical foil on the Jetsons. It was kind of cool seeing Big Show go to the future and doing all this and having all the robotic stuff, you know, throwing him in the shower and stripping him off and then washing him up and then pushing him out and then putting him in big pajamas. That was hilarious. That was pretty cute. Unless you're a fan of the WWE now, some of these characters you're not going to really know. You got the Usos. You got, let's see, Sasha Banks, I think, is in this. Or is it Alicia? It was Alicia Fox. I'm sorry. Alicia Fox was in this. Sheamus was in this. Seth Rollins is in this. Roman Reigns is in this. Yeah, so there's a lot of interesting characters in here. But yeah, unless you're a fan of the WWE now, some of these you probably wouldn't even know. You will know the big show if you're kind of an Attitude Era fan. You'll know the big show, of course. But I thought for what it was, I thought the Jetsons and WWE Robo WrestleMania was a unique film, a cute film. Not as good as the others, but definitely one that I'm glad that is in the Classic Cinema Magazine library. You know, will I watch it again? Maybe sometime down the line, not right away, but, you know, it's something that I'm glad we got in the archives. So, yeah. So there we go. There's some Jetsons good stuff today here on Classic Cinema Magazine. On our podcast, The Rewind, I want to thank you for joining me today on the Jetsons edition of the Classic Cinema Rewind.
