Transcript: Christian Movie Reviews: Faith-Filled Films for the Family

Music Hey guys, welcome once again to this Classic Cinema Magazine Treasure Hunters Report. We've kind of had a good little week this week. This big huge stack here all has to do with a 50% off sale at Dollar General. All Dollar Generals were giving their Blu-rays and DVDs half-price sales, and so a lot of good stuff was there. Didn't get any Blu-rays, but oh well. But we did get a lot of good DVDs. We're going to go through these, and you're going to be surprised at some of these probably. But I'm going to first start off with one that I normally, I very rarely do this, but this was too good to pass up. Okay, first off, I love The Wizard of Oz. This is one of my favorite old classic films, The Wizard of Oz. I love that film, still to this day. but one film I've never seen and I normally don't buy them this way but they were in a special case like this it's like a paper case and I was like I don't normally like to do that but it was too good to pass up I don't even know if you can even see it but it is probably can't see that but anyway it is Oz the Great and Powerful basically that's what it is You probably can't see it. Let's see if we can do it this way. See if you can see it that way. See that? Oz the Great and Powerful. Anyway, I normally don't buy them this way, but it was only a dollar. And I've never seen this film, so I was like, you know what? I'll buy it that way, and I'll print a little cover for it, and it'll be there for a dollar. I normally don't do that, but Disney films, you know, I wanted to try it anyway. I don't even know if I'm even going to like it. Oz the Great and Powerful, but, you know, hey, it's part of the Wizard of Oz. You know, it's kind of like a prequel type thing. How do you not do that? Yeah, so, yeah, I just, I went ahead and took a chance at it. The second one that I'm going to show you is actually one we've already talked about on our podcast for this week. But this was from the early dollar general sale, and that is 50% off the Jetsons movie. Yeah, I had to pick this up because Warner Archives sent us the Jetsons TV series, the original TV series. Yeah, I had to have this. This actually only cost $3, I think it was. something like that Anyway so for half price was not very bad at all Had to have the Jetsons Love that Very cool Not real great artwork It's very simplistic, but that's okay. But had to have the Jetsons. So, yeah, we did that. Next one, I'm not a huge fan of... Well, let's put it this way. I don't get a chance to watch a lot of animation. so for me to buy huge amounts of animation uh i just don't have the time to go through uh series that i have like um three four seasons and 65 episodes like a season and go through i ain't got time for all that i just i just don't have the time but every so often i like to have a little you know animation break and this was really a good deal i don't have any of these and so i was like, yeah, this is Thundercats Season 1, Part 1. Okay, so there's 12 episodes in this collection. This was only $2.50 for 12 episodes. Yeah, that's a pretty good deal. So yeah, I got some Thundercats now. Thundercats, Thundercats, Thundercats, ho! You know, if you like Thundercats. There you go. So yeah, a little Thundercats action. That's pretty cool. For $2.50, yeah, not complaining. Next one, I have a huge amount of voodoo films. Digital films, if you will. Movies anywhere, if you want to say it that way. They're all over the place, so you can get them anywhere. But anyway, I actually added this film to my digital because I had some digital money, if you will, available to me, and this was on sale and so I went ahead and bought it on digital, but I never had it on DVD or Blu-ray. This was at the Dollar General for the 50% off sale. Big. You gotta be kidding me. Big. And you know what this cost? $1.50. Half price. Unbelievable. So I had to pick that up. big on DVD. So now I got it on digital and I got it on DVD. Hey, nothing wrong with that. The next one that I picked up, I picked up basically for one film. Well, two if you want to be honest about it, but basically for one. This is the Universal 100th Anniversary Spotlight Collection. They've been doing a lot of these where they put like three films in one box set or one DVD set and make a whole bunch of them. And they've done that with all kinds of different movies. And we've got several of those in our collection. Well, this one, I've always wanted to have Field of Dreams. Love that film, baseball film, but never had it. And I kind of always been interested in having a copy of Apollo 13 but I can never find those Well look at this Apollo 13 Field of Dreams and Seabiscuit all for get this this right here You ready Yeah So basically I got these films for like $1.16 a piece. Not bad. Even if I took Seabiscuit out, which I wouldn't, but But even if I took that one out and just said, I got these two. I mean, it is still $3.50 for two films that I've wanted. I mean, it's still a good deal. So, yeah, so I really wanted Field of Dreams. But I kind of been always wanting to get Apollo 13. So this was there, $3.50. Yeah, I had to get that. I had to get that. So not a bad deal. All right, next one. I don't recall if I've ever seen this. I may have seen this on television maybe once. I don't know. I can't, for the life of me, I can't remember. I may have many, many years ago, but it's probably one of them ones that I just can't remember. Maybe I did. I've watched, multiplied thousands of films over my life, so sometimes some are going to fall through the cracks of your mind. So I may have seen it, but I just can't recall. But anyway, this is City Slickers. This film, pretty good. only $2.50. Not too bad. I'm not complaining. For the 50% off. So, yeah. Had to get City Slickers. Like I said, I can't remember if I've seen it or not. I don't remember, but we're going to look at it again anyway. City Slickers. Then, finally, just in time for Halloween season. We're in October now as we're recording this. And, And this was one I couldn't pass up. $2.50, half price. Very, very cool and perfect for Halloween season. Didn't have this in the collection. Look at that. Amityville Horror. Yeah, this is perfect for Halloween season. So, yeah, we added Amityville Horror to the collection for only $2.50. Yeah, very good little find. So this is basically the find. Not a huge stack of stuff, but pretty good stuff, and all 50% off. It's been a really, really kind of nice week being able to pick up some stuff every so often, because sometimes you go for weeks and you get nothing. I mean, it's just dead. And then some weeks it just starts building. So this has been one of those weeks where we got some cool stuff, so I'm not complaining. Thank you for joining us on this Treasure Hunters report.
