Greetings, Classic Cinema fans. This is, of course, Pastor Jay here with you on the Classic Cinema Rewind. We thank you for joining us today, whether you're listening to the audio format on the podcast or whether you're watching the video on YouTube or UltimateTube, whichever the case may be. We want to thank you for joining us today. And today we have a very interesting podcast we're talking about. We're talking about some superhero goodness, yeah. This is sort of unboxing almost to a degree, but more or less we want to talk about the actual release. We got a package today from the good folks at Warner Archive, and we already know what's inside. Maybe you don't, but we already know what's inside, so we're going to go ahead and unbox this thing and take a look at what's in this package. We really are excited about it. And it is a brand new release or newer release from Warner Archive. And what's in that package is this. Teen Titans The Complete Series. Now, those of you that are watching on the video, you can see this is a Blu-ray release. Those of you that are listening to the podcast can't see that. But this is a Blu-ray release. and Teen Titans kind of is an interesting show. Teen Titans, for some of you that may not know, premiered on Cartoon Network in July of 2003. Now, Cartoon Network basically had plans for this show for about four seasons. They said, we're going to do a four-season run, then we'll end it. And that was going to be cool, but because of the popularity of this show, So Cartoon Network decided to give them an additional season for a fifth season and then a made-for-TV movie finale, which was entitled Teen Titans Trouble in Tokyo. The series itself was a very good series. It was nominated for three Annie Awards, which is awards for animation, and one Motion Picture Sound Editor's Award. But the show itself, Teen Titans, deals with five superheroes that join forces to try to save the world from the threats. The series, this group consists of Robin, the Boy Wonder, former sidekick of Batman, now striking out on his own to lead a group of heroes himself. They also have Cyborg, the teenage version of Cyborg, the half-man, half-robot Cyborg. I always loved that character. There's also Beast Boy. Beast Boy is this kind of goofy but good-natured character that can kind of change himself into all forms of animals, which was very, very cool. but don't worry, don't worry ladies, don't worry females, they got you covered as well, those of you that are saying, what about the female characters, what about the strong female characters, we got you covered there too, you have Starfire, who is the kind of curious alien princess from the planet Tamaran, and then Raven, who is kind of a cold-blooded girl from the parallel universe, Azeroth, who draws on dark energy and psychic abilities to kind of help out the team. So a very, very cool collection of heroes there, all fighting to try to make the world a safer place. Now, the interesting thing that I always thought was kind of cool was they had kind of a fortress, if you will, a fortress of solitude. That was actually Superman's thing. But they had kind of a fortress as well, and it was the Titan Tower. And Titan Tower was basically shaped like a big T, okay? It was a building with living quarters, and it had a command center and training facilities. and it was just really interesting, and it was on an island offshore of the west coast metropolis city of Jump City. So really interesting. Now, for those that may not know this, this is not the newer, this isn't Teen Titans Go. This is the original Teen Titans. I don't want to go deep into Teen Titans Go because that is just, I would almost prefer to forget that even exists. That's just me. Some people like Teen Titans Go and that's fine. I mean, that's what makes television and movies for everyone because not everybody likes the same thing. To me I not a big fan of the quirky kind of goofy eye type of thing that is Teen Titans Go That just me I don particularly care for that I prefer this This to me is great animation I love the animation. This actual series kind of deals with, kind of is in the same universe, I guess is the term, as Batman the Animated Series, the Superman Animated Series, your Batman Beyond animated series. It's kind of in that same universe, I would say. It's kind of that continuity. At least I look at it that way. Now, let's kind of delve a little bit into the series itself, and then we'll talk about this Blu-ray release in a second. But basically, the series lasted for five seasons, as we said, with a TV movie. The first season dealt with the mysterious supervillain Slade, who was voiced by Ron Perlman, which is really cool. Second season is an adaption of The Judas Contract. Now, I'm using this and saying these, hoping that most of you that are watching this, you already know the storylines of The Judas Contract. If not, well, Google that. We don't have time to go into deep detail on that. But also in the second season, through this storyline, we're introduced to a new hero, Terra, who joins the team but has a little bit of a secret agenda. We don't want to go deep into that, but you can figure that out for yourself. You can watch that and find out. The third season takes Cyborg's conflict with the terrorist organization Hive, which was the hierarchy of international vengeance and extermination. And their leader, Brother Blood, and he has to try to do something to counteract them so Cyborg forms a superhero team of his own, Titans East. So very, very cool. So, season four deals with Raven as she finds herself unwillingly involved in a plot that threatens the world in which she's living now when her demon father, Trigon, seeks to enslave all of Earth. So, really an interesting storyline there. Then the fifth season, which was not intended to be a season at all. It was supposed to end at four, but they've got a fifth one, so that was cool. The Teen Titans joined forces with numerous other heroes to combat the Brotherhood of Evil. So really kind of cool. So we see that fifth season was kind of more them trying to figure out, I think, what they were going to do going forward. Then beyond that, after the fifth season, they got their TV movie, and that is Teen Titans Trouble in Tokyo. And now the movie ran about 75 minutes, somewhere around there, and it's basically after the Teen Titans are battling this high-tech villain known as Psychotech, the Teen Titans travel to the city of Tokyo, where they find themselves more in a conflict with a very ancient enemy. enemy, and we don't want to go into detail on that either, because in case you haven't seen it, we want to leave this spoiler free. So anyway, so those are that's what we remember as Teen Titans, but now we have this. Yeah, we're going to look deeper into the Blu-ray release of the Teen Titans series right after this. Don't touch that down. Free movies and TV produced by Pastor Jay at classiccinemamagazine.blogspot.com or at youtube.com slash therealpastorjay. A man there awaiting me And no more saying goodbye By going to classiccinemamagazine.blogspot.com A paradise beyond the sky Okay, thank you for staying with us here on Classic Cinema Rewind. We have taken off all of the plastic during the commercial break here that is on this Blu-ray release because we didn't want to do that on camera. But we haven't even opened this yet. We just took the cellophane, the little protective plastic, off of there, and we're going to look at this together. This is the brand-new release from Warner Archive. And, oh, I'm so excited about this. I have not seen Teen Titans in many, many, many, many years. So it's going to be interesting to re-watch this again. I love the cover. For those of you that are watching the video, you can see it. Those of you that are listening to the podcast, it a deep blood red with the Teen Titans logo in the forefront and all five of the Titans flying towards you It really so cool I love it I love it I just think this is a very good release Very slimline case. I love that because if you're anything like me and you have multiplied thousands of videos, movies, DVDs, TV series, Blu-rays, all kinds of stuff, you need space. So this is perfect that it's a slimline case. I love that. As we open it up, we see pretty cool. I like this. Different artwork in every single, looks like different artwork in every single disc. Yeah, that is very cool. All right, we're adjusting as we move forward, okay, so that we don't have that problem as we look at these. All right, first disc has Robin on there. Very cool. The complete first season. Very cool. I like that. Then you got the second season there. And Cyborg is on that Blu-ray disc. Very awesome. The third season. Look at there. There we go. Third season disc. Fourth season disc. And the fifth season disc. And we're not saying who are on these. I just noticed that I wasn't doing that. But anyway, we might go back and do that. But anyway, fifth season disc, and then, of course, the final disc is the TV movie, Teen Titans Trouble in Tokyo. Pretty cool, actually. I like that a lot. I think this is very, very cool. I love the fact that they not only included all five seasons, but they also included the TV movie. That truly makes it a complete series. Now, some companies, I am very impressed with Warner Archive for that purpose, for this purpose here. Some companies would say, hey, well, the series and the TV movies, not the exact same thing. We could make it the TV series and then the movie finale, and you have to buy it both ways. And then we get double the money. Well, Warner Archive didn't want to do that. They wanted to make it an actual, complete TV series. Thank you so much for that, Warner Archive. We appreciate that. I mean, all of it in one collection, that is a collector's dream come true. I love that. And I love the fact that each disc has its own hub. There became a thing back in the day where it was disc stacking. I don't know why that became a thing. But it became a thing where it was like, you know, if you've ever had CDs or DVDs, the burnable kind, you get them in a stack and they're stacked up and you take one out and you burn your disc and then you move forward, right? For some reason, somewhere along the line, somebody in some company said, hey, that's a good idea. Let's just do that. It's cheaper. Yeah, it's cheaper, but it's cumbersome to try to find the disc you want. It's really bad. It really is. So I'm glad there's no stacking there because the stacking of discs is just bad. It's not a good way to get it. Now, I bought many collections. I bought the Three Stooges Complete Collection, and it's stacked. And I've got some of them that are like that, and it's not my favorite. But, hey, it is what it is. What can you do? Thankfully, Warner Archive went high end with this. I thank them so much for that because this looks amazing. We got a lot of different bonus features in here, which, hey, you know, for me, five seasons in the movie, that'd be more than enough for me, but Warner Archive didn't go that way. They wanted to give you more, so that's pretty cool. Finding their voices, it's like a featurette. The secret information behind the making of Teen Titans. comic creations from comic book to cartoon. And that's the whole thing. Something that we didn't talk about was that Teen Titan was an actual comic book long before it became a cartoon, for those of you that maybe are not aware of that. All kinds of cool stuff. Catching up with Teen Titans. Teen Titans, you know the foes, or know your foes. Teen Titans, friends and foes. Lost Episode. The Lost Episode. That's going to be interesting. Huh. Maybe there's something there I don't know about. Ah, that's going to be cool. Very, very cool. So I'm looking forward to jumping into all this stuff. And we're going to delve deep into this over the next several days. And we're going to have a full-on written review of this Teen Titans release here on Blu-ray on classiccinemamagazine.blogspot.com.
