Transcript: Christian Movie Reviews: Unboxing Warner Archive Collection

Greetings, Classic Cinema fans. This is Pastor Jay here with you once again for a very quick unboxing. We're not going to spend a long time today, but we are. We've got a brand new package from the good people at Warner Archive, and we're going to check out what's inside. We're going to give you a quick overview, a quick look at it, and realize that both of these releases will be receiving a full written review at classiccinemamagazine.blogspot.com, so you want to make sure you go there every day because we put up something new every day, but especially for these releases. All right, let's jump right in and see what's coming for review. Alright, first release coming for review on Classic Cinema Magazine is, who didn't love this guy? Danny Kaye. Loved Danny Kaye. Danny Kaye was an amazing actor, comedian, and great all-around guy. Just loved Danny Kaye. So this is coming for review. This is a really interesting release. It is Danny K. The Golden Years from Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, MGM, if you will. so this is kind of cool this is four films from the Warner Archive very cool, you got the movie posters on the front cover, very cool inside you get Up in Arms the first film, you get Wonder Man you get The Kid from Brooklyn, and that one is a little hanging loose. Okay, there we go. And you get A Song is Born So a four set very very cool Love that that each movie gets its own specific disc That is very cool Um all of these are are um kind of like um, musical comedies, if you will. Uh, so, uh, gonna be really, really kind of cool. Looking forward to it. Uh, love Danny Kaye and anything he did, he was just amazing. So, yeah, I'm looking forward to that. Danny Kaye, The Golden Years. Very cool. Four-disc set, four-movie set. That's coming for review on Classic Cinema Magazine. Be sure to be looking out for that coming soon. All right, and the other release that was sent to us is one that I've never even, I didn't even really realize that he did this. I thought I had heard somewhere that he had, but I wasn't 100% positive until I saw this, and I was like, you've got to be kidding me. This is Jimmy Stewart, the great James Stewart, the man that is known for It's a Wonderful Life, for all the amazing westerns, for the film Harvey, a really interesting film, Harvey. Just so many things. This is a TV series, a short-lived TV series that he did. It's called, typically and most appropriately, The Jimmy Stewart Show. This is the complete series. It didn't apparently last really long. I think I'm going to do some more research on it before I jump into this. But the series, I think, only lasted one season, if I'm not mistaken. But anyway, this is the Jimmy Stewart Show, disc one, disc two, and disc three. So it's a three-disc set. And basically what it is is Jimmy Stewart changes from making movies to doing a TV series, He a situation comedy if you will on NBC And he kind of playing basically a professor of anthropology and he trying to kind of rein in the kids and kind of try to bridge that gap between the kids and himself as he getting older and all and kind of deal with his family and keep them and you know so it's it's really kind of unique um sounds unique anyway i've never actually seen it so i'm looking forward to checking it out um this is of course made on demand um this is a made on demand release so um this is not really ever going to go out of print if you will if you ever decide that you would like to have uh jimmy stewart the jimmy stewart show all you got to do is go to warnerarchive.com, wbshop.com slash warnerarchive, whichever you want to do, and go there and search for The Jimmy Stewart Show, and it's made on demand. You can get a copy anytime, so that is very cool. That's what I love about Warner Archive. They've been doing these kind of releases that are made on demand, so if you find an episode or a TV series or a movie or something that you like to have, but you're not going to ever get it in the big stores because they just don't make them. They're not releasing them because your stores like Walmart and Target and Best Buy and all these different ones, they're just not going to release these. These old shows and these old movies, people sadly in this generation don't want to see this type of stuff. And it's sad because Jimmy Stewart was an icon. Danny Kaye was an icon and these films still are amazing to this day and sadly they're not getting the big name releases that you're going to get in the store so Warner Archive is doing something that I think is so tremendous in that they're giving us these releases made on demand so I think it's awesome so I'm really looking forward to it so thanks again to Warner Archive for sending us the Danny Kaye collection here of the Golden Years And of course the Jimmy Stewart Show We really looking forward to checking these out I am really, really excited about it. Love what Warner Archive does. They surprise me all the time with the quality. They put a lot of great quality into their products. And the audio and video quality is really crisp and clear all the time. We'll check these out to make sure. but I'm sure they're going to be amazing. I've never been disappointed yet.
