Transcript: Discovering God's Truth: A Deeper Understanding

God God Such a little word, and yet so full of meaning, if only we would consider it. But almost every time we hear it used, people are trivializing it, reducing it to little more than a punctuation mark in a sentence where the real subject being discussed is my opinion versus your opinion, my emotional experience versus your emotional experience, my frame of reference versus your frame of reference. This is true of even the most respected philosophers and theologians. It's just a word, more often than not used to prove an argument, but also used as a theoretical answer to all the problems of life, or equally used as someone to blame for all the problems of life. But always it is done with little real thought about the immensity of what those three letters imply. How often do we actually confront the awesomeness of this concept we call God? They say that someone would be destroyed in the overwhelming glory of God's literal presence, but I should think that even thinking about the true extent of the greatness of God would cause our finite brains to explode. In a very primitive culture, on a small island in the middle of the ocean it might be understandable that people there could imagine a super-intelligence big enough strong enough and smart enough to actually make that island and put each of them on it. But with modern technology, our understanding of the universe itself which is said to be expanding at a rate that is greater than the speed of light and our understanding of the chemistry of life is so incredible that this, the creation itself, is totally incomprehensible for almost all of us. Any attempt to leap from that to a picture in our minds of what it was that made all this is just too much for any of us. No offence intended for any of you fundamentalists out there, but even the best stories in the Bible about creation, about the Garden of Eden, about the flood, about people being raised from the dead... even about the Creator coming to earth and revealing himself as a human being and about this very special God returning to earth to set up an eternal kingdom All of this understandably comes across as variations on all the myths and legends that religions all over the world have come up with for centuries when we put such accounts up against the vastness of the universe and the size, much less the power and intelligence, of the One who made it all. Why do we even bother to argue over the veracity of such stories? Isn't it obvious that the stories themselves fall short of explaining this great force, this supreme intelligence that put it all together? Can we do better than just fall on our faces before him, her or it and confess our own unworthiness to even begin to think we understand the full implications of that little three-letter word...God? I have this feeling that all our religious talk is not what he wants. In our favorite book of writings about our Creator, someone said, ''Humble yourself in the sight of the Lord, and he will lift you up.'' Yes, that sounds like a valid message to be coming to us from this amazing wonder that we call God. Can we, in fact, do anything else but humble ourselves in view of his greatness? And yet many of us do otherwise, arguing instead either for or against the very source of our existence as though we have it all figured out. We know that there are three of them, or we know that there really is only one, or we know that he doesn't exist at all. What a joke! Seriously, if this great being has a sense of humour at all, he must roll on his infinite heavily flowing laughter at the audacity of the human race to think that we can say anything of worth about our Creator. Let God be God. Humble yourselves in his sight, like it says, and just maybe, he will lift you up or at least spare you from his indignation. And that's another thing. The way we get our noses out of joint over every little thing he does that we don't agree with or understand. His right to be indignant, or even angry, for example. As I've already said, our explanations, even in the Bible, fall far short of capturing the awesomeness of the real Creator of the universe. If we don like what they say or if someone we know doesn like what they say so what Let stop arguing It only words after all He it whatever made all this just may have a reason for it all and I don't think it depends on our telling him what he can or cannot do. For me personally, I'm banking on my personal conviction that the Creator has allowed people to say things in the Bible that will point us in the right direction. It's certainly the best that I've found, but I sometimes wonder if he regrets having even mentioned love. The way we have taken it and tried to push him around with our finite understanding of what that means. Don't forget that the same book that talks about love also talks about wrath, and according to the book it didn't stop in the Old Testament. The worst of his wrath is yet to come. Now, here is what I think is happening in the cosmos right now. The Creator knew, engineered or at least allowed the human race and the little planet he gave us to play around on to reach the point where we are right now. He let us know ahead of time that the people on this speck would one day reach a point where we would be so destitute of the truth that we would allow ourselves to be totally ruled by the most evil forces in the universe, with no human hope of escape, as his final and ultimate step in making us aware of our need to do what I said earlier and that is to humble ourselves in the sight of the Lord. All of you out there, from the most hardened atheist to the most righteous religious person you are going to see in the next few years all that is most evil in the heart of man come together in a final world government that is going to totally dominate the lives of everyone on this planet, killing literally millions who do not conform to the wishes of a one-world government. You will discover too late that the human race has been locked into a final showdown between good and evil, and all the evidence will trumpet a single message that evil has won. we will be inescapably forced to admit that despite whatever disinterest we have shown in the loving God of the universe, evil is real, and evil will lead us to the most awful existence that we could ever have imagined. You and I mean the very best that the church world has to offer just as much as I mean the worst atheist you would not humble yourself before Almighty God You would not let him make the rules and so you will have the alternative You will have evil, and you will have yourself to thank for it. Your indifference, your selfishness, your lukewarmness...that is our fate. That is going to happen. Everything is coming together even as I speak. Most of you will not even turn then, but a few may have one last chance. It will mean death, certain death, and possibly a very cruel one, but it will be your only hope of escape from an eternity of such torment at the hands of an angry God who has had enough of your churchy games and your intellectual snobbery. I have friends who sometimes show glimmers of sincerity, show promise of one day getting it right with God show enough honesty to acknowledge they don't have all the answers, but still they procrastinate. My only hope for them is that when it becomes clear all over the world when it becomes clear that we are fallen prey to the actual prophesied beast of the Revelation then they will wake up and realize that it wasn't just talk. It wasn't just your opinion versus my opinion. It was God. Yes, God, that infathomable force out there, the creator of all that exists. It was God who had been talking to them all along, and from whom they had turned away, hoping for some more convenient time to humble themselves. Maybe then, at the last minute, with evil all around them, they will turn and offer themselves to the killing machines of the new world order that is coming as surely as the sun will rise tomorrow. Maybe then... But how much better if you were to have faith to do it now? You could turn and let go of all that you are presently hanging on to. You could get in a few days, or a few years proclaiming this great message of God's love through Christ before his wrath is poured out on the earth.
