Well, greetings, Classic Zemma fans. This is, of course, Pastor Jay here with you once again with another bingeable movie set for you to enjoy. We've been doing these for quite a while because of the COVID-19 pandemic that is going on. And, you know, while many of our states are beginning to open up and, you know, people are getting ready to go back to work or already have, which is really, really cool. You know, we still got to be safe. We still got to be taking it easy, not, you know, wearing masks if we have to go out. And if we don't have to go out, still stay home because it's just better to be safe than sorry. So we're still, you know, while not on lockdown, we're still, you know, told to stay home if you can. You know, if you don't have to go out, stay home. So we're still, you know, stuck with our families. uh you know and and that can be very very you know discouraging sometimes depending on if you you know don't mind being with your family all the time you know some of us you know we you know you got you got that where you just got to get away and you just can't stand being locked in the same house you know with with with people so so but anyway but right now we're talking about uh bingeable movies that you can watch. Now, today we're going to talk all things Wizard of Oz. I love the movie The Wizard of Oz. It is right here behind me on the shelf. And it is this. Let's go here. The Wizard of Oz. this probably is one of the most iconic films of all time. I mean, who doesn't remember checking this out, seeing the flying monkeys, seeing the Wicked Witch of the West, the Scarecrow, the Cowardly Lion, the Tin Man, Toto, and Dorothy. I mean, just an amazing, amazing film. And just, I love this film so much. Judy Garland was amazing. An amazing actress, an amazing singer, and sadly met a tragic end. But we're not going to go into that. We're just going to talk about this. and The Wizard of Oz is probably up there with one of my favorite films of yesteryear. It's cool for all families to sit down and watch, but it's got a real creepy ambiance to it. It's really creepy. It's really scary. It's really, really off the charts. It's really out there sometimes. and uh you know while it's considered a child's film a children's film you know it it has a very very creepy and very violent type of uh you know scary imagery to it and i i don't know i just love it i remember the first time i ever watched it i remember the second time i've ever watched it i remember the third and fourth i just remember watching it all these years and i continue to watch it every single year because it's just so good it's probably one of my favorites um and that's you know yeah you know it could be considered one of my favorites i'm not going to say that it is my favorite film but it is it is definitely up there and um dorothy is just uh judy garland as dorothy is just just perfect she really is she just she got a perfect uh you know childlike uh... sensibility about her and and the whole the whole film i i don't know if it if there could be a perfect film um... This could probably be one of them. I mean, it is that good. I mean, it is that amazing. I love The Wizard of Oz. It really is probably one of my favorites of all time. I will say they did kind of, Disney did kind of a prequel, if you will, to The Wizard of Oz. And we're just going to kind of glance over that a little bit. But they did Oz the Great and Powerful. So while that's okay, it doesn't hit the same notes as the original. It's good. It's got a unique way about it, and I like it for what it is. It's not The Wizard of Oz. The original Wizard of Oz is amazing, and it is definitely something that during this pandemic, it's a good thing to introduce your children to if they've never seen it. It is amazing. Now, something that we have just watched just a few weeks ago, well, we picked this up quite a while ago, but trying to do everything, review everything that we get sent and trying to do all the things that we do, you know, radio show, pastoring a church, doing all this type of stuff. You know, sometimes you've got to hold off on things. But we finally got to check this out. picked this up for $2 and we finally got to check it out. And it is The Wiz. This is Motown's version of The Wizard of Oz. Very, very interesting take on The Wizard of Oz. But I find it very interesting because The Wizard of Oz, The Wiz, if you will, is Richard Pryor. It's pretty cool casting, actually. The Scarecrow, Michael Jackson. Let's see, Nipsey Russell plays the Tin Man, which is very, very cool. Ted Ross is the Cowardly Lion. And Lena Horne, Glinda. Very, very cool. And then, of course, Dorothy is played by Diana Ross. So this is a very unique tale. It's basically musical. It's basically a musical. That's what it is. Where The Wizard of Oz is a movie that has musical segments, The Wiz is literally a musical. That's what it is. It's to be a musical. And so there's a lot of music and a lot of singing and a lot of stuff. And it's all Motown. I'm a big fan of Motown I like that Motown music it's kind of cool now for the film itself I will say this film runs at 2 hours and 15 minutes long and I will say this film does feel now this is my opinion totally if you have a different opinion I mean that's great I mean you can let me know your opinion on it. I mean I I mean everybody's got their own opinion. It's really cool That's what makes watching a film so amazing, but To me the whiz it there were times it felt like there were Things put in there just to fill out two hours and 15 minutes That kind of the way I felt um I Don know maybe maybe I wrong maybe you have a different opinion I mean that fine but that the way it kind of came across to me sometimes Some of it just felt kind of a way to fill in time to kind of broaden it out a little more but the music was amazing the music is great I have to say Michael Jackson does a really good job as the Scarecrow Diana Ross as Dorothy did a good job but she felt I guess it's just I'm putting it up against this the original and to me it just felt like Diana Ross was too old to play Dorothy. Now, not that Diana Ross is old here, but it's just, it felt older to me, like she was a little too old to play this. I don't know, that's my opinion. But I liked this film. I thought it was very, very cool, and I enjoyed it, and I'll be honest with you, I'll be probably revisiting it sometime down the line to check it out again, because I did like it. I think it was pretty cool with the Motown music and all, and so we're going to check it out again probably sometime down the line, and maybe you want to check that out. It is pretty cool. All right, now our final one we're going to talk about is up here. It is part of the Mill Creek Entertainment big box set that they did, the Epic Fantasy Collection. There is all kinds of good stuff in here, But we're going to talk about one specific one, and that is a miniseries entitled Tin Man. Now, Tin Man is a new take on The Wizard of Oz. The New York Times wrote, Oz for a new age. and you know it kind of is it's got a great cast in it Zooey Deschanel plays Dorothy in this miniseries she's really good Zooey Deschanel probably many people would know her from the movie Elf probably would be the most notable probably for most of you but she's the Dorothy in this Neil McDonough is the tin man very very but see the tin man he's not the tin man specifically like we know him he is a cop if you will a detective tin like the tin star like the the cop type thing that's kind of what that is it's really weird. It's a really strange take. I don't even know how to go about even really explaining it to you, but it's one of those miniseries you've got to just kind of see to believe. You just kind of watch it and kind of go through it. It is really out there. It's really strange. It's really weird, but it's unique. Sometimes unique is good. So I will say it's something that you may want to check out. I don't know if it's a type of miniseries that you would watch time and time and time again, but it's definitely worth checking out one time just to kind of see it. We talk about how The Wiz was long at 2 hours and 15 minutes Well this one is 4 hours and 28 minutes because it is a miniseries So if you're not interested in too long of a film, this one you're going to have to break up. You could break this up and watch it in less time. So it's something. these are all films that I think deserve to be looked at at least once definitely if you've never seen The Wizard of Oz you have to check out The Wizard of Oz but I definitely suggest checking out The Wiz very very great cast of Motown characters and music and great African-American actors, just funny comedians, Richard Pryor and Nipsey Russell, just great stuff. All of them shine in The Wiz, definitely worth checking out. And The Tin Man, yeah, it's one of those oddities that probably everybody should watch at least once just because it is so strange. It's just such a strange take that everybody should check it out at least once, I think. All right, so anyway, there's our suggestion today. This is kind of a little shorter video, but that's okay. This is our take. This is our suggestions during the pandemic, the COVID-19, for your viewing pleasure. If you have seen any of these, leave a comment.
