Transcript: Laurel and Hardy Blu-ray Restorations: A Christian Perspective

What's going on Classic Cinema fans? This is Pastor Jay here with you once again bringing you an interesting release that we just got in the mail as we're recording it just today. So excited about this. Many of you Classic Cinema fans may have heard about this release. Maybe some of you didn't, but this is really something special. I am so excited about it. And this is from Kit Parker Films and MVD Visual, joining forces to bring us this, the Laurel and Hardy Definitive Restorations Collection. Unbelievable. This release is all kinds of Laurel and Hardy films on Blu-ray, completely re-scanned, 2K and 4K from the original 35mm Nitrate films. Unbelievable stuff. So excited about this because Laurel and Hardy is probably one of my favorite comedy teams of all time. Now, Laurel and Hardy are just one of several amazing comedy teams, classic comedy teams. You have Abbott and Costello, of course, iconic. You have the Three Stooges, so iconic. Martin and Lewis were a comedy team that many know about. And they were not a big comedy team for a long time, but they are so iconic. but probably one that is most imitated and so iconic is Laurel and Hardy. Laurel and Hardy are just an amazing, amazing comedy team, and I love their films. We have so many different Laurel and Hardy releases in our collection because Laurel and Hardy is so amazing We can thank Kit Parker Films and MVD Visual enough for sending this release to us so that we can check it out for you Just got this today, so we're going to dive into this here on this video and look at the release a little bit. But then we're going to be kind of binging this show, this whole Blu-ray set, and be bringing you a full written review coming up probably in August. Because we're going to take our time and really, really scan this thing and look through it and kind of examine it and see what the restorations look like. We're going to take our time and we're really going to examine this thing and put it under the microscope, if you will. be like Sherlock Holmes and really examine it so that you know what it's like and whether you want to add it to your collection. But I'm going to tell you, from the first thing, I popped this in the Blu-ray player just to kind of take a quick look at it. It looks pretty good as far as I'm seeing so far. But we're going to really delve into this and kind of see what it's like. As you can see, this is the way this is Each disc Here, you've got Disc 1, Disc 2 Disc 3, and Disc 4 It's a 4 disc Blu-ray set And in this Blu-ray set You've got all kinds of amazing things Disc 1 Included is The Sons of the Desert feature film Love that film It is so funny Probably one of the most iconic ones From the Laurel and Hardy feature films Is The Sons of the Desert And this one has been restored And I'm so looking forward to checking it out again I just, believe it or not Just watched The Sons of the Desert On one of my older releases Not that long ago Probably about a month ago or something I re it again And now I going to have to watch it again but it so cool to get to watch it again and to get to see it restored and looking better than what I watched the last time It's going to be awesome. The first disc has Sons of the Desert, Battle of the Century, and Birthmarks with alternate soundtrack available in that set. on this disc here. Disc 2 has Bratz with the alternate soundtrack, Hog Wild, Come Clean, One Good Turn, and Me and My Pal, all these short films from Laurel and Hardy. Disc 3 has Helpmates, The Music Box, one of the most iconic of the Laurel and Hardy short films, Restored. The Chimp, love that one. The Chimp, County Hospital, Scram. Their first mistake, the Midnight Patrol and Busy Bodies. All of these are on disc three. Very cool. And then disc four has Way Out West, Toad in the Hole, Twice 2. That's that. And the final one is the tree in the test tube. there's also commentary tracks and special features on every single one of these discs including interviews with Oliver Hardy and so many more just amazing things I'm so excited about this release I can't tell you how excited I really am I am so excited to check this thing out it is going to be something special I really believe that I have been been reviewing Kit Parker's releases for quite a while now and they never seem to disappoint me but this one however I'm looking for the best I've ever seen and I know I'm not going to be disappointed I really looking forward to this just great stuff as you can see the back of the disc is really of the Blu is really cool You got Laurel and Hardy there if I can get the glare off You got Laurel and Hardy there Their iconic features are right there on the back of the case. So cool. I just love it. I am so excited about this. I just had to share it with you because this is going to be a great, great release. I just feel it in my bones. this is going to be one great release. If you're a fan of classic comedy and Laurel and Hardy, you may want to check this one out. It is available now on Blu-ray. There is also a DVD release of this, if you would prefer the DVD. But for me, I like the idea of having it on Blu-ray. I think that sounds better. Much better, much sturdier quality stuff.
