Greetings classic cinema and TV fans, this is Pastor Jay here with you once again bringing you another flashback Friday. I love some 70's TV, I mean I don't know there's just something about that stuff, it just rocks for me. I love the 70s and the 80s. It's awesome stuff. And the 70s especially. And today, I want to go back to a kids show. But a kids show that just is so awesome. And I still love it, even to this day. And that is Land of the Lost. I'm not talking about this Will Ferrell remake movie that was so horrendous, that was just terrible and almost sacrilegious to this series I mean, it was just wrong in so many ways I'm not talking about that series I'm talking about the original I'm not even talking about the 80's version that came out later I'm talking about the, or I think it was the 90's actually But anyway, I'm talking about the original series. This one here. It is so cool because we had these ones here, the first and second seasons, and we never was able to get the third one. But we recently was able to pick up the third season at a retro store that we have around our area. They had it in there, brand new in the packaging, and I was like, yes. So we were able to get that, and so we've completed the entire series. Basically what Land of the Lost is is about a single father with his boy and his girl They they out doing some retro rafting some whitewater rafting and stuff like that, and they fall off and into like a portal and find themselves in the land of the lost where they've got all kinds of, you know, dinosaurs and creatures called Sleastax, and they're like lizard-like creatures that are just out to kill. And it is just, it sounds like a kid series, doesn't it? Yeah, it really does. It sounds like a kid series. Oh, I tell you. But it was, we're living in a different era. Now everything has become so PC, and so we've got to make sure everything is so sanitized for everybody that we miss out on some of the most awesome adventures. And I think that's some of the problem with what we do in this generation is there's no excitement. There's no fun like there used to be. Now, I'm not saying that kids should be subjected to a lot of profanity and a lot of sexual content and all that. That's not what I'm talking about. But I'm talking about this type of stuff was so awesome, and we don't do this type of stuff anymore. And I don't know why. The first two seasons were amazing. They took you on the adventure with the Marshall family as they just try to survive in the land of the lost while trying to find a way to escape the land of the lost. and really an awesome thing. It is produced by Sid and Marty Croft, who produced so many, so many iconic shows in the 70s. But this in my opinion is the best they ever did I love this show it is so cool The stop motion animation of the the dinosaurs are just really cool I always loved that stop motion animation Now a lot of people would say oh that's dated but I love it. I don't know. There's just something about it. I love it so much that it just I do. I love the the stop motion of the the animals. They look like they're lumbering along more than just running, you know, and I like that. I think it looks really cool. The Sleestacks are still scary in this generation, even to this day. When you rewatch this, when I rewatch these, I'll find myself watching the Sleestacks lumbering along, coming after, and they'll like swing their arms to try to grab the marshals, and you almost feel like they're going to get them this time, you know. So it's just adventure personified. It's so cool. You got Chaka, who is a native of the Land of the Lost, an ape-like creature that learns to speak some of English as he lives with the Marshals. Very, very cool. Just an awesome series. Now, the first two seasons are amazing. And the third season is where the show kind of fell off the rails a little bit because the father, Rick Marshall, I don't know what happened there, whether he wanted more money or whether it was that they just didn't want to pay him or if he wanted to get away from it so that he wasn't tight. I don't know. But he decided that somehow he decided, they decided, whatever, that he wasn't coming back for the third season. And so in this, we get a weird kind of song that tells what happened. They lost their father through the portal of time Uncle Jack went searching and came to find them and so now it's Uncle Jack with Holly and Will Marshall. I think that's where season three kind of fell off the rails. It was because when you mess with the sauce, you're going to mess it up when you try to put additional ingredients in or you try to take something out you're messing with the sauce and you mess it up and I think that's what they did with Land of the Lost and I think that's why this one didn't work after season 3 I think that's why it got cancelled after season 3 does that mean season 3 is not fun to watch? that's not what I'm saying but it just doesn't work as well But I do love this series I too highly, highly suggest checking out Land of the Lost It is probably one of my favorites of the kids adventure shows from the 70s I love it It still holds up for me today I love it so very much Let us know what you think about the Land of the Lost in the comments below We'd appreciate to hear your thoughts on that We want to remind you to go to RetroAC.Blogspot.com And check out the awesome content we have there Like, share, and subscribe to these videos We really would appreciate it It helps us out a lot To know you are enjoying our content And until we see you next time This is Pastor Jay reminding you That if you want to see a great film Or a TV series Check out a classic We'll see you next week Bye everyone Have a blessed day Thank you.
