Greetings, classic cinema and TV fans. This is Pastor Jay here with you once again, bringing you another flashback on Flashback Fridays. Today, we're talking something awesome. We're talking a little sci-fi miniseries action. We're talking about V, an amazing TV series, miniseries that took place in the early 80s. And it is just 80s sci-fi action to the hill, man. It is amazing. The good folks at Warner Archive have not only released V, the original miniseries, but they also released V, the final battle, which you know we had to have both of them. It just had to be. It has to be. You can't just have one. They go together like peanut butter and jelly, people. It's just so cool. But V, the miniseries, is literally just a story about visitors coming to Earth. Now, at first, we feel that the visitors are here to help us. But soon, we realize all is not as it seems. Yeah, they've got a little bit more of a sinister agenda all behind them. Yeah, it really is something. I never really thought about it until just now, but it kind of reminds you of an episode of The Twilight Zone that is to serve man. If you remember that episode of Twilight Zone, it kind of does harken you back a little bit to that episode when you think about it when you watch this miniseries. It kind of has a similar storyline, if you will. But it kind of cool This sci miniseries is unbelievable It stars Mark Singer Mark Singer of course known for being in the Beastmaster movie series I love the Beastmaster series. Love them. Oh, amazing stuff. But anyway, Mark Singer, an amazing, amazing guy. He's our hero of the series, if you will. And he is so awesome in this. It's just an amazing, amazing character, actor. And I love the action in this. It's just so amazing. I don't want to give it all away. I could talk about this and give you all the details, but I'm not going to do that because it's not fair to you if you've never seen this series to tell you what it's all about. So that's not what we're going to do. But just know this. It is filled with action. And it is so awesome with the science fiction, with all the lasers and all the laser guns and all the action and all the spaceships and all that. It's just 80s awesomeness. Oh, I tell you, it's so good. I was too young to see this when it first came on because I was like a toddler. I was just a baby when this first came on, so I didn't get to see this when it first came on. But I have love for the 80s, man. 80s was an interesting time, and I love those 80s sitcoms and those 80s movies and those 80s TV shows. I just love them. And so V is one of those ones I just love so much. Kenneth Johnson is the mind behind this. And Kenneth Johnson, of course, we know did many great TV series. Probably one of my favorites is The Incredible Hulk, of course. But just so many amazing TV series, and I just love this. Warner Archive released the original miniseries of V and what an amazing release it was This was restored into high definition in widescreen format the whole nine yards And in this release here on Blu-ray, you get a full-length commentary by the writer and director, Kenneth Johnson, and behind-the-scenes documentary as well. And it's just awesome with all kinds of cool stuff. And the whole miniseries is found on one disc Which is fine because, you know, hey You don't need no more than that I mean, it's not like you're doing a whole TV series You're just doing a miniseries Which is about, what, three hours long or so? Somewhere around there? A little over three hours So that's plenty of space for one disc I mean, you've got plenty of space on a Blu-ray Okay But the original miniseries was amazing, and it brought you to a crescendo. But then what about mankind's battle? What about them? Are we just going to lay down and die? Well, no, we got a final battle. We got a final battle, and we're coming back. And that's where the V final battle comes in. And B, the final battle is very interesting because not only do we get the final battle, but we get a more epic final battle. As it is a longer release, we get two discs. And, yeah, it's a three-part final battle. Now, in this release, I don't know why, but this one is presented in full screen. Now, I don't know exactly why that is. I don't know if it was produced in full screen, and maybe that's why we didn't get it in widescreen format. I don't know. If you know about that, let me know in the comments below. I'm just doing this right now, and I didn't do any research on that. But anyway, but if you know, let me know in the comments. Appreciate that. But anyway this is presented in full screen format and it does look amazing Both of these look amazing Whether they in full screen wide screen or whatever they still look awesome It just looks amazing. They really do. And I cannot tell you how much, if you're a fan of 80s sci-fi, and you have never seen V, which, why would you not have so far? But if you haven't and you're a fan of 80s sci-fi, this is something you've got to check out from Warner Archive. They've done an amazing job restoring these and making them look amazing. So definitely go to Amazon.com. Pick up a copy of the V, the original miniseries and the final battle. Because if you've got the original series, you've got to get the final battle to finish it up. You've got to see the whole thing. All right. But go check it out and go to Warner Archives' website and check out all their amazing releases. They have got so much. There's something for everyone, and it is really, really awesome stuff. All right. Well, that is all the time we got today for Flashback Friday. We've actually went a little over because we got too excited about the final battle of V. but we want to remind you to go to retroac.blogspot.com and go there all the time check out the new content we got we would appreciate it be sure to like, share and subscribe to these videos we would really appreciate that and until we see you next time this is Pastor Jay reminding you that if you want to see a great film check out a classic and we'll see you next time have a blessed day have a blessed flashback Friday Bye everyone.
