Greetings Classic Cinema fans, this is Pastor Jay here with you with another top seven list. Today we're talking about top seven WC Fields films. Gonna be an interesting one. Be sure to like, share and subscribe and let's jump into this. All of the films we're going to talk about are found on this collection here. This is the W.C. Fields Comedy Favorites Collection, 10 films, 7 of which are on this list. Let's jump into it with number 7. Number 7 is 1940's My Little Chickadee. My Little Chickadee stars W.C. Fields and Mae West. Mae West, of course, known for her interesting ways about her being a man chaser in W.C. Fields, being a man that loves the drink and hates the kids and dogs. It's just an interesting combination. And the film basically follows a scandal that runs a gold digger out of town. She meets a con man and the two of them begin to string together some petty deceits and try to work together. It's really an interesting film. It's a lot of fun and it deserves number seven on the top seven of W.C. Fields films. Can't Cheat an Honest Man from 1939. This one is kind of an interesting film. It's the owner of a debt-ridden circus, contends with pursuant bill collectors and sheriffs, as well as having to deal with his beloved daughter's relationship with one of the performers of the circus, as well as a stuffy but wealthy young man. He has to balance all this in W.C. Fields' most unique and funny ways. It really is a funny film and it deserves number six on the top seven list of W Fields films The Old Fashioned Way from 1934 This is a film in which W Fields plays the great McGonagall and his troop of third-rate vaudevillians as they manage to stay one step ahead of bill collectors and sheriffs. Kind of seeing a theme here, right? And all the funny things that go on in this film, We don't want to spoil any of it, but it's W.C. Fields being W.C. Fields. It's just his unique way of always seeming being able to talk his way out of trouble and yet still get into trouble. It's a lot of fun, and that's why The Old Fashioned Way gets number five on the top seven W.C. Fields films. You're telling me! It's from 1934. Very interesting film The hard drinking and socially awkward inventor W.C. Fields wrecks his daughter's chances of marriage Into a rich family And mongles his own chances of success By selling one of his more practical inventions So this is really an interesting film And you kind of see a trend of W.C. Fields Always being the guy that wants to get rich but yet can't seem to stay ahead of the game. And that's a typical thing for a lot of people. We all want to be rich, but we seem to not be able to stay ahead of the game sometimes. But this is a really fun film. It's a lot of fun. It definitely is one you should check out. That's why You're Telling Me comes in at number four on the top seven list of WC Fields films. Never Give a Sucker an Even Break from 1941. Really, this is W.C. Fields' last real film when you get right down to a starring film. And it all takes place as a filmmaker attempts to sell a surreal script that he has written, which comes to life as he pitches it. So it kind of a satire on filmmaking and it the last film he ever did in the starring role Really really interesting It kind of funny Not his most hilarious, but it's funny. And the reason that it comes in at number three is because of the surreal way that the film comes to life right on the screen as he's telling it. And it's really unique. It's really a unique script. and it really is one that should be checked out. It's very, very good. And that's why Never Give a Sucker and Even Break comes in at number three on the top seven WC Films. The Man on the Flying Trapeze, 1935. Very interesting film in which a hardworking, henpecked man, Ambrose Wolfinger, takes off from work to go to a wrestling match with catastrophic consequences. And we're not going to tell you what those consequences are. You need to check that out for yourself. But it is a very, very interesting film, a lot of fun, and W.C. Fields is just at his comedic best here in this film, and it really is a great film, and that's why The Man on the Flying Trapeze gets number two on the top seven list of W.C. Fields films. Now normally we don't do this, but we're taking a break from the top seven list to just give you some honorable mentions. These are not full-length features, but these are some of W.C. Fields' short films, and this collection here is really, really good. We get the Golf Specialist, the Dentist, and the Fatal Glass of Beer. These are basically short films. They're 20 minutes long, around 20 minutes long, and these really show W.C. Fields at his funniest. It basically takes all of his funny routines and mashes them in about a 20-minute span, and they are just absolutely hilarious. If you've never seen The Golf Specialist, The Dentist, or The Fatal Glass of Beer, it really is a funny funny funny trilogy of little short films These are all in the public domain so you can watch them on YouTube or many different places It is definitely something you should check out the W Fields short films And now number one, my absolute favorite W.C. Fields film is It's a Gift from 1934. I think this is probably my favorite W.C. Fields film because it is literally just comedy all the way around. It almost is, well let's tell you what the film is first off. A hen-packed New Jersey grocer makes plans to move to California to grow oranges, despite his wife not wanting to do so and his daughter not wanting to do so, even though his son is okay with it. This literally, he takes his family and they take this road trip to California as they move to California. When they get there, they find that the Orange Ranch that he bought is less than spectacular. All along the way, just comedy, nonstop. It is a literal nonstop laugh fest. And that's why It's a Gift really deserves the number one spot on the list of the top W.C. Fields films. It is that amazing. Do you agree with our list of the top seven WC Fields films?
