So, you know, hurry it up. Don't take long like you usually do. Thank you, Ms. Jones. I appreciate it. You're welcome. Anytime. Hi, Vey. Okay, so we have come here to pay tribute to Deacon Smith. Pay tribute. Pay tribute. That almost sounds like he's dead. Celebrating? Well, celebrate that's probably not any better. Well, anyway. Okay, 50 years of service, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. Community leader, blah, blah, blah. Okay, self-sacrificing. Community, okay, good, good, good. Everything looks good. Alright, alright, we're good to go. Alright. Now at this point hindsight is 20 And looking back I should have turned the cup upside down and then the pen would have slid out with no problem but sadly that not what I did gotcha oh no no oh no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no Hi. How are you? Well, are you ready? Did you get that speech and everything done? Yeah. Where's the cup? I got the cup. Hi, how are you? Oh, I'm fine, but I mean, hey, they're all waiting. Come on, let's go. What's wrong? I mean, you look like you're guilty of something. I'm not acting guilty! Who said I'm guilty? Who said I'm guilty? Nobody said I'm guilty. I didn't say I'm guilty. Did you say I'm guilty? I'm not guilty. Nobody said I'm guilty. I'm not guilty. I didn't say nothing about guilty. Did you say I'm... Hello? I'm doing okay. Well, I can see you're doing okay, but I mean, come on. You broke that cup! cup. No, I didn't break the cup. No, I didn't break the cup. No, what do you take me for? I didn't break the cup. I wouldn't break the cup. Why would you think I broke the cup? I wouldn't break the cup. Why would I break the cup? I didn't break the cup. I wouldn't break the cup. Why would I break the cup? I didn't break the cup. Stop. Get off my back. I didn't break the cup. I promise I didn't break the cup. Okay. I didn't break the cup. If you didn't break it, then you must have done something. What did you do? I didn't do nothing. I didn't do nothing. I didn't do nothing. Come on. I didn't do nothing. You want to play checkers? Hey, come on. Now, that's, you know, a sign that you really did. Now, what did you do? Come on. Don't hold it. Come on. What did you do? I didn't break it. I didn't break it. Well, no, you didn't break it. Come on. Ouch! I'm saying ouch! I'm saying ouch! For what reason? What does it look like? You don't mean you're stuck in there. No, I just thought I'd play that. You can see I can't get it off. I got an idea. What's that? I tell you what, we'll just cut it off right about there. What, the cup? No, your arm. I don think so You got to get your hand out of that They are waiting on that to present that to you know to Deacon Smith I know. Yes, I know. What don't you want me to do? I can't get it off. Well, I don't know, but you better figure something out. You know what? I'm going back down there, and I'm going to see if I can, you know, kind of stall them a little bit. And I'm going to leave it up to you to get your hand out of that cup and get it down there to him. How am I going to... You got it in there. You better figure a way to get it out and get that cup down to him. Oh, jeez. Thanks a lot for your help. I appreciate it. Well, I just... Hey, I didn't put it in there. You did. You better get it out. Oh, jeez. You don't have much time. They're waiting. Oh. How the hell did you get it out? It won't come out. I don't know. Well, we want to thank you all for coming and being a part of this celebration of the career of Brother Deacon Smith. Deacon Smith has been a blessing to this church for 50 years. 50 years. Unbelievable. That's longer than I've been alive. Not to make you feel old. But I remember the first time that I came here to take over as pastor. And I remember Brother Deacon Smith, he met me here at the church and he welcomed me with open arms. And I'll never forget that. And I'll go even a step further. That when I left, as we all know, when I went to California and when I finally came back, Brother Deacon Smith was one of the first ones to welcome me with open arms and welcome me back. And, brother, I will never forget that. I will never forget that, how you welcomed me with open arms. I like that. It means more to me than I can ever tell you. Wow. Over 50 years of service to not only First Community Church, but to our community as a whole. Brother Deacon Smith has worked at the food pantry. He has worked here in the church leading as one of the members of our board Just worked very hard for over 50 years and we congratulate him It's going to be hard to say goodbye. It's going to be hard to not see Brother Deacon Smith in the board meetings anymore. It's going to be hard to see someone else in his spot. But I will say this, brother Deacon Smith, that, you know what, someone may fill your space, but they will never take your place. And I just want to say that today. We're going to miss you. We wish you all the best in your retirement. As you go to Florida, enjoy that sun and enjoy all the warmth. While we go through the cold Virginia winters, you enjoy the warm Florida sun and remember us during these cold winters. We would appreciate it. And don't be a stranger. Come back and visit us sometime. We would appreciate seeing you. We love you. And we thank you for all your service. So as a special memento, we want to present you with this beautiful loving cup as a term of our love for you. I feel like I'm all alone. Oh, but I know one who really cares. So one day at a time, no matter what's in my way, I'm not giving up for it, no matter what others say. With the Lord at my side, I'm never alone. I'm destined to win, so step by step I'll take it. One day at a time. One day at a time. One day at a time. One day at a time One day at a time
