Transcript: Tex Avery Classics Volume 1: Timeless Animation Wisdom

Greetings Classic Cinema and TV fans, this is Pastor Jay here with you today on another Flashback Friday. Today we're going to talk about a very interesting release and give you some amazing news for that fan of classic cartoons in your life. We're going to give you some interesting news about that. Let's jump right into it. be sure to like, share, and subscribe. Today we're talking about the Tex Avery Screwball Classics Volume 1. This amazing release from Warner Archive, wow, what a great, great collection of cartoons, classic cartoons that Warner Archive did. And there's been a major groundswell for those classic cartoons from back in the day, Saturday morning cartoons, right? People have been talking about that a lot. You know, what happened to Saturday morning cartoons? Well, you know, they just went away. They really did. Well, Warner Archives has given us some amazing, good, classic cartoons on high definition and high definition on this Blu-ray with the Tex Avery Screwball Classics Volume 1. Now, this collection here is just filled with amazing stuff. Probably my favorite of all is, of course, Droopy. I love Droopy. He is just probably my favorite cartoon character. I love his methodic way He just laid back He just you know whatever But he always seems to be one step ahead of everybody even though he so slow and so methodic and so laid back It's just so fun. But there's just so many great characters in this collection and so many great cartoons. And this one is one Blu-ray disc. Okay, now a lot of people would say one Blu-ray disc. Well, you're getting all these different cartoons, but there's 2 hours and 18 minutes in this, which is more than enough space on a Blu-ray for this collection. This one is really, really cool. The interesting thing about this is we have to understand these cartoons are from a different era. These cartoons are not what we would say politically correct in this generation. They're a little bit sexist. They're a little bit racist at times. In the way we see things now in 2020 and 2021 going forward, we see things a little bit differently now. We can see how things are a little insensitive to certain people. Well, see, back in the day when these were made, it was a different era. So these things can, as we look now, can look a little bit off. But that doesn't mean they don't need to be enjoyed. I mean, they're just a different era. And it a good talking piece too to sit down and say hey why is this racist Why is this sexist Why is this insensitive to certain people It a talking point as well which is really nice and really interesting and it helps us to be better people while still enjoying the great cartoons from another era. So that's why we wanted to spotlight the Tex A.V. Screwball Classics Volume 1 here. Now, we said all this for a simple reason. As we're recording this, we are just under two weeks away from the release of the Tex Avery Screwball Classics Volume 2. This is going to be awesome. This collection is going to be released in two weeks, December 15, 2020, as we're releasing this. And it is so awesome. I didn't know whether we were going to get a Volume 2. Because we are living in a PC world, and so I wasn't sure whether this was going to go across and be a big deal. I really wasn't. I was not really sure it would be. But I am thankfully surprised that Volume 2 is coming. now the interesting thing with volume 2 is that it is going to be a longer collection now where this one is 2 hours and 18 minutes the Screwball Classics volume 2 is going to be 2 hours and 23 minutes I know what you're saying well big deal 5 minutes hey you know I'll take it anytime I can get a little more I mean I'll take it you know I love it I think it really really cool It going to be 21 cartoons from the MGM era and what an amazing thing it going to be I have to say that Warner Archive did a spectacular job remastering and these look better than anything you've ever seen before. In any collection you've ever seen, they don't look as good as they do here. So I'm looking for another amazing stellar release from Warner Archive. with the Tex Avery Screwball Classics Volume 2.
