I recently watched a documentary about a young woman named Bianca, who suffers from a mental illness called Tourette's Syndrome, where one experiences involuntary urges to lash out in rage at others and at themselves, often shouting obscenities or hitting themselves, hitting things around them and hitting others, much like the tantrums that most of us went through when we were two years old. This may be one of those conditions that most convincingly illustrates what the Bible calls demon possession. In this documentary, I saw that demon being cast out in one way or another. I want to get rid of my tics and have a better life. I'm sorry, Mom. It's okay. Over a period of time. You would still, I would still always feel bad. I know, yeah, I know. And it makes me upset because I don't want to hit anyone. Through loving parents. I just want to have my family together. It's hard. Through medical science and through an honest and humble spirit from Bianca herself I been given this really bad Tourette for a reason so I have to do something good with it I guess In the end, even after surgical intervention, the problem was still there. But Bianca had come to see that her struggle to overcome her affliction was, indeed, her purpose for living. She had, through a very successful YouTube channel, become a symbol of hope for many others like herself. Bianca has certainly inspired me. Because, you see, if we can all be as honest as she was, we will be forced to admit that we each have our own demons. Demons with whom we wrestle almost constantly. It may, in fact, be our purpose for living as well, just to faithfully resist those urges. All of life may just be a test to see how we will fare in our personal battle against anger, against fear, against pride, or in my case, against impatience. These things can come upon us without notice. It can be quite depressing to look back after they passed and see the damage that our giving in to such surges of emotional weakness has done to ourselves and to others But the sooner we can ask for forgiveness, and the sooner we can accept that forgiveness as well, the sooner we can move on to another period of overcoming. Now, for some, that period of victory between one attack and another may be longer than for others, But it will take effort, focus, determination, and desperate prayer to keep those demons at bay for as long as possible. And it will take more repentance and more forgiveness each time we falter. For me, I find it helps to know that others are going through similar battles. They are probably struggling to put up with me as much as I am struggling to be patient with their recurring spiritual problems. It also helps to see that we are in this together. We cannot love and understand everyone, but we each need someone with whom we can wage this war together. Someone who can help us but someone whom we can help as well Now the ultimate significant other is God himself as revealed through his Son Jesus Reach out to Jesus in desperate prayer knowing that he has been there too facing all the worst that Satan could offer He came out victorious in the end, and he dearly wants you and me to do the same. Stay open to the possibility that he will send others of us along to help keep you accountable in this great cosmic battle between good and evil, a battle that is more often than not waged within our own hearts. Please consider contacting us and even visiting one of our communities to see if this is something God might use to help you overcome your inner demons. We're in this battle together, and it's going to take everything we have to make it through to the other side, to the awesome wonders of the kingdom of heaven that Jesus came to give us. We're praying for you, that God's kingdom might come and reign in your heart today, even if just for a moment.
