Greetings Classic Cinema and TV fans, this is Pastor Jay here with you once again. And today on the Silver Screen Spotlight, the spotlight is hitting one of my favorite comedy teams of all time, Laurel and Hardy. Yes, Laurel and Hardy, that iconic team of Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy. Probably we all know Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy from their iconic routines. Throw it over your shoulder. But with all comedy teams, they didn't start their careers together. They had to start somewhere else. And Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy started in solo films. They were basically, you know, solo acts before they joined forces and became the iconic duo. But what about those films? You know, they're more or less almost forgotten about. Well, not anymore, thanks to Flickr Alley. They have joined forces with the Library of Congress, Lobster Films, and Black Hawk Films to bring us this amazing collection. I love this title, too. Look at that. Laurel or Hardy. It not Laurel and Hardy because these two never join up in any of these films They solo films Very very cool But we get to see Laurel and Hardy in their earlier films before they join up to become a team and that is so cool This set is beautiful. So each disc, it's a two-disc Blu-ray set, and each disc has the films of each of the boys. It's unbelievable. You have a Laurel disc, and you have a Hardy disc. And there are so many different films for each of these releases on each of these Blu-rays. It's so cool. First off, I love the cover art. I just think that is so cool. That is really, really cool. And notice there that Hardy does not have his iconic little mustache. You notice that? Because this was long before he joined up with Laurel and they got their style, if you will. And neither of them have the bowlers on either because that's not what it was at that point. They would later on become known with those things, but that's not what they were at this time. These are the amazing, amazing films, and I love that cover art. I just think it's so cool. On the back, you can see awesome stuff there. You get some stills of the boys there. Very, very cool. Now, what makes this really cool is on the inside, when you take out this, the cover, on the inside, You get all kinds of stills. Very cool. Love that. It just really is a really awesome set. But beyond that Flicker Alley never goes skimpy on the releases Absolutely never They go above and beyond And I tell you what on this Laurel and Hardy set they went above and beyond This is really cool You get a booklet filled see Stan Laurel Oliver Hardy very very cool and it tells you all in this booklet we get all kinds of information about Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy tells us a little bit of bios about them all of these classic old silent films from Laurel and Hardy very very cool awesome stuff just amazing it's just a great little booklet But, and I will have to say, as far as the restoration, all of these classic silent films have been restored in 2K. And they look amazing. When you think that a lot of these films are over 100 years old, you've got to think about that. Over 100 years old. And, wow. Most of these have been restored and look absolutely spectacular. Now, some of them, the time has not been as kind to some of the prints. And there is a couple of them that I've saw. There are a couple little scenes where the deterioration of the print has got a little rough. but the couple scenes that I saw where the deterioration with Raw Wolf didn't last long so that's really really good they really look amazing and they really are spectacular I have been thoroughly impressed with Flickr Alley I'm telling you if you are a fan of old time cinema you need to check out Flickr Alley they really are doing some amazing things and restoring some great classic silent films and film noirs and and all kinds of documentaries and different things it just amazing stuff and you need to check it out go to flicker alley.com and check them out i think you're going to be really impressed with some of the stuff that they have if you'd like to get the full written review of this amazing amazing set from Flickr Alley.
