Greetings, classic cinema and TV fans. This is Pastor Jay here with you once again on another Silver Screen Spotlight. Yeah, today we're talking about one of those cult films from the 70s. Films from the 70s, they're either absolutely amazing or they become cult classics. That's usually how it works. And, you know, this one's not absolutely amazing. It's more like a cult classic. It's for certain kind of people. It's not going to be for everybody, but it is kind of an interesting film. It has received a Blu-ray release from Kina Lorber and Scorpion Releasings, and that is The Norseman. Really interesting film. Before we jump into this, we're going to let you know who stars in this. Lee Majors! Lee Majors. Yeah. Lee Majors. Six million dollar man. Yeah, six million dollar man. Lee Majors is playing a Viking. Wow, that is strange. We'll jump into that in just a little bit. But yeah, Lee Majors, known for playing Steve Austin. wrestling fans may think of a different one but anyway, Steve Austin an astronaut who is in an accident and then ends up being rebuilt and becomes the six million dollar man. Yeah, so we remember this from the 70's maybe you remember Lee Majors from this the Fall Guy in the 80s Cold Seavers a stuntman and a bounty hunter Either way, you may remember him. I love both of these, by the way. These are some of my favorite TV. I love both of these. It's just amazing. But no matter how you may remember Lee Majors, you probably don't remember him as a Viking. It's a really interesting film. This was, of course, his production company coming together with directors and writers and all and making this film called The Norseman. and of course he would star in it along with some other amazing actors. It's really kind of interesting to see the actors that are in this. Cornell Wilde is in this, unbelievable. I'll tell you one in here that's really amazing is Jack Elam. Jack Elam is known for playing those westerns, right? But I'm going to tell you something, he didn't do bad as a Viking. I think it's because of that gravelly voice maybe. I don't know, the gravelly voice, that kind of weird eye of his, and that long name Thorvald, whose father, King Yorick, has been kidnapped, and he gets his fellow warriors together, and then they go out to find the king, and they sail to a far-off country, a far-off land that we would know as America. Okay, that's fine, whatever. But there they come to realize that the Native American tribe has kidnapped the king, and they go to war against the Native Americans. And, wow, what a weird and strange film. But the interesting thing is that it is a weird and strange film but in one of those really cool ways you know It's one of those type of films that you sit and you watch and you go, Really? This actually happened? This actually was captured on film? And you sit and you scratch your head and you go, Wow. But then as you get into it, you start getting into the action and you get into the story. And then before you know it, you're kind of enjoying what you're seeing. The Norseman is one of those type of films that really is a cult classic because of the fact that it's just strange, but it's fun. And that's the point. That's the point of cinema. Cinema doesn't always have to be something greater. Cinema, a lot of times, is something to start discussions. and then sometimes cinema is just for escapism, just to be fun, and this is just fun. That's all this is. This is just a fun film. Wow. Now, I will say, I have to say, Lee Majors doesn't seem to even try. And I don't mean he doesn't try to do a good job. That's not what I'm saying. He doesn't even try to disguise his way. What we see with Six Million Dollar Man and with the fall guy, that's the way he acts. When I watch it, I'm sitting here and I'm saying, wow, Steve Austin is a Viking. Colt Sievers is a Viking. He doesn't try to even change. He doesn't have a beard. Every other Viking in the whole film has a big, long beard. He's just got his little mustache, man. He doesn't even try, you know? But I guess that's what makes it so much fun, is to see him out of place in a lot of ways, and you see the million man and you see Cole Seaver a foal guy as a Viking But it makes it so much fun Oh it is just so much fun I don know It absurd but it fun And that's what I love about it. I guess you can see. It's just, I had so much fun watching it because it's just off the wall crazy. It's just fun. the really cool thing about this is they do a lot of the old slow motion fight scenes and it kind of reminds you of the 6 million dollar man in a lot of ways so that was really really kind of cool I have to tell you though this right here looks amazing Kina Lorber and Scorpion Releasing really came together and did an amazing job putting this together and the quality is spectacular just an amazing widescreen presentation of this high definition the colors are amazing it's crisp, it's clear there's a lot of film grain which is what you want with films from the older era but it's not overdone it's just the perfect amount it really is amazing I have to tell you if you love those cult films you need to check out The Norseman it's pretty cool so yeah definitely go to keynotelorber.com check out this and many of the other great releases that they've done and be sure to go to retroac.blogspot.com and check out our full written review of the Norseman as well as many of the other keynotelorber releases and be sure to like share and subscribe to these videos and until we see you next time with another silver screen spotlight This is Jason, Pastor Jay, reminding you that if you want to see a great film, check out a classic, and we'll see you next time.
