Greetings Classic Cinema TV fans, Pastor Jay here with you once again. We're bringing you a first look at some brand new releases from Kino Lorber. I love the Kino Lorber label, they've got amazing stuff and we just want to share with you some amazing stuff. Maybe there's something here you're going to want to check out and you've been on the fence about. Well, we're going to let you know about it, and then we're going to do a full written review of all of these releases coming in March. So I'll be looking for that at retroac.blogspot.com. Let's jump into this. First one that we're going to look at is Crossed Swords. This is an amazing release from Kino Lorber. basically cross swords. It's based off of Mark Twain's Prince and the Pauper. Now, the interesting thing about this is this has got an amazing cast, absolutely amazing cast. Oliver Reed, Raquel Welch, Ernest Borgnine, George C. Scott, Rex Harrison, Charlton Heston, I mean, just to name a few. Unbelievable. And the thing that really is amazing about this is Cross Swords here is presented in its theatrical release version in the full 1080p high definition. But beyond that is included in this is the 121 minute international cut of the film. that is unbelievable audio commentary uh interview with uh mark lester um theatrical trailer all kinds of good stuff but man to get two versions of the film is unbelievable the i will have to say though um the international cut is in sd um standard definition but that's hey, I don't care. I mean, that's still a pretty amazing little bonus there. I love that. So, looking forward to that one. So, yeah, I'm liking that. All right, continuing on with the new releases from King of Lorber is the last remake of Bogest. Now, we probably all remember Marty Fellman from that iconically funny role in Young Frankentine where he played Igor. But here he is basically doing this. This is his film and really really interesting It directed by Marty fellman and the last remake of bogest is an interesting film it a spoof comedy which of course he was known for that uh but he plays digby uh jest uh the brother of bogest and the interesting thing is he is the identical twin brother yeah of bogest and bogest is played by michael york okay we know that. But that's part of the funniness of it. And Digby Jest joins Bojest in the Foreign Legion following the theft of their family's heirloom. And it's just off the wall crazy. It's off the wall crazy. So yeah, this is going to be pretty cool. A pretty cool new release. Released in high definition. Awesome. Two audio commentaries, audio interviews, with Michael York, and all kinds of good stuff. So yeah, last remake of Beaugest, for those spoof movie fans out there. We got something for Westerns fans. Last month, King of Lorber, or this month I should say, as we're recording this, released these two Dean Martin Westerns. Texas Across the River, and Rough Night in Jericho. And wow, what an amazing thing. Many people probably think of Dean Martin, and they think of the celebrity roasts, or the variety show, or maybe his time with Jerry Lewis in those movies, but he was an amazing actor himself in his own solo career. and this time around they're releasing another one not a funny western or anything like that this is a very serious western, this is Showdown and this stars Dean Martin and Rock Hudson unbelievable and really what this comes down to, it's about two friends long time friends that find themselves on opposite sides of the law and go in for a showdown really really cool audio commentary, theatrical trailer all kinds of good stuff and yeah we're looking forward to checking that one out and reviewing that one as well then we got another western Gregory Peck and this one is Shootout Showdown and Shootout Gregory Peck is known for being an amazing actor in the fact that he is probably known for To Kill a Mockingbird or the original Cape Fear or many of the other amazing films that he was in but he was a pretty good westerns actor too And this film, basically he plays an aging gunfighter who is released from jail, and he's looking for revenge. It kind of reminds me of John Wayne's The Shootist. not that it's the same film or anything like that, but it just kind of has that same feel about the aging gunfighter and all that type of stuff. I'm looking forward to this. Very cool. We get audio commentary. We get theatrical trailer. Really cool stuff. Looking forward to this. Awesome stuff. All right. And then finally, we got some really cool triple feature of one of my favorite comedians in the older era, and that's Bob Hope. Thanks for the memories, Bob Hope. Yeah, three new releases. Very, very cool stuff. Let's take a look at him. My Favorite Blonde. Interesting, another one of those My Favorite films. This one is really funny. Bob Hope plays Sidney Landfield a vaudeville actor that works with a penguin I know that sounds strange but it's actually really kind of funny and they have this act and they want Hollywood calls and wants the penguin to be part of Hollywood movies and you know and he's left out in the cold more or less but he's going to be the trainer if you will well he finds himself He thinks everything's going really great for him, and then all of a sudden he finds himself on a train and in the middle of a crazy spy espionage thrilling thing where these spies are after, well, something. I'm not going to go into great detail, but they're after something, and he has it, and they're trying to get it from him. and it's just unbelievable. And of course they're after this, the blonde, which is Madeline Carroll as well. Very, very fun film. If you ever watched My Favorite Brunette, well you know what you're kind of getting in there with My Favorite Blonde. It's the same funny, funny thing. And so yeah, that's pretty cool. This also comes with audio commentary and theatrical trailer. Very cool. Love that. Then there's Nothing But The Truth with Paulette Goddard. This is another interesting film Paulette Goddard we know her and Bob Hope teamed up in The Cat and the Canary and The Ghost Breakers. Well, here they are yet again in Nothing But the Truth. Kind of an interesting film here. Hope plays a stockbroker, Steve Bennett, who comes into a firm and uh he's um he's uh they they make a bet with him that he can't tell the truth for 24 hours straight well and it's a huge bet and uh what it is is he he ends up uh having to have this money he gets this money from this lady um paulia godard and um she gives the money to him to invest and uh it's not her money and then she comes back wants the money back and it's too late He bet the money, and now he has to try to tell the truth for 24 hours straight, and they're the ones that bet him, trying to keep him from winning the bet. It's just crazy off-the-wall nuts. I mean, it's really, really crazy, crazy stuff. This film also comes with audio commentary and a theatrical trailer, so very, very cool. And then the final one we're going to talk about today is this one. This is the Bob Hope caught in the draft. Bob Hope here, yet again, with another amazing war picture type, but in a comedy way, which is very, very cool. And here, Bob Hope plays Don Bolton, an actor who does not want to enter the war. And so he tries to find a way to escape the draft. But in typical Bob Hope fashion, even though he tries to escape, what happens? He gets caught in the draft. Very, very cool. So, yeah, man, this is some amazing, amazing stuff this month from Kino Lorber. We're looking very forward to getting to review these for you and let you know how awesome they are. so be sure to keep your eyes open to retroac.blogspot.com all of these coming for review we want to thank Kino Lorber for all these great releases and this is your first look at these what ones are you looking forward to? let us know in the comments we'd appreciate it and until we see you next time be sure to go to retroac.blogspot.com as well as kinolorber.com and be sure to like, share and subscribe and we will see you next time Have a blessed day.
