Music Greetings Classic Cinema and TV fans, this is Pastor Jay here with you once again and this time around we're doing another top 7 list Now, interestingly enough, we have been warned for generations about technology someday technology will turn on us, right? And we've been thinking about that a lot here recently. And, you know, so I thought this was a really good time to look back at top seven, top seven list, our top seven AI films in cinema history. Some of these are a little more fun, and some of these are a little more prophetic or warnings, if you will. So let's jump into the list. First off, we're talking about The Matrix. This is a, well, I was going to say a trilogy, but in a way there's four films. because the fourth film is Animatrix, which is an animated version. But anyway, The Matrix is one of those trippy films that you just don't know what's really going on. It really is. It's really strange. It's basically about a guy named Neo who is brought along for an interesting ride, given a choice to see what reality really is or to continue to live the way he always has. And he comes to realize that what he believes is really true life is just the matrix. It's just artificial intelligence. It's what they think we want to know and what we want to see. And it's how artificial intelligence has taken over. And so it's really an interesting film. The first one is really, really good. The second one was okay. The third one, eh. But together it tells a complete story. But it is, eh. Steven Spielberg's Artificial Intelligence. now this is not a warning film or anything like that really too too much it's more of a interesting tale of a robot humanoid if you will a robot looks like a human all this that has is given to a family to kind family for them to raise if you will And it kind of an interesting film I can see how the way this is, how people could become attached. And it's really an interesting tale. Haley Jo Osment is amazing, as always. He was an amazing actor. it's a shame he didn't continue on but of course anything Steven Spielberg does is spectacular so it's just one of those interesting kind of films and that's why we had to put her on the list at number 6 if you've never seen Artificial Intelligence it is an interesting film so definitely check it out really we could have done a whole bunch of um you know warning films and all this about artificial intelligence but i didn't want to go that route because um they're overdone sometimes and sometimes it's just kind of just fun to just uh see artificial intelligence just kind of be fun right and uh this one is fun personified this is short circuit uh this is basically about a robot named Number 5 who, after a lightning storm, an electrical storm, escapes the lab and decides, you know what, I'm human. It's kind of interesting. It's a lot of fun. It's an action film as Number 5 and the people that endear themselves to him and kind of or try to protect him, are trying to stay ahead of the government and keep him away from them. It's kind of a cute little film. It's a lot of fun. Robocop. This is something that has kind of worried me over the years, is how that we may come to a point someday where we want to implant artificial intelligence type stuff into us to make us better, right? And that's what RoboCop is. They took a cop who is basically killed and they make him into a super cop as RoboCop. I grew up on this film, the TV version, if you will, and I remember watching this every time it was on television. Every time it came on I would stop and watch it and I grew up on that television version and the interesting thing is Arrow Video has released this film on their new Blu release with the TV edit which just excites me so much because I grew up with that and so it kind of cool to see that but yeah this is an interesting film and always makes me wonder why would we want to do this but that's humans that's what we do we're never satisfied we always want to go further we always want to do something more and so yeah a warning tale and yeah something to think about And WALL-E, a very cute Disney film. Now, as we said, with these, we didn't want to go completely all sci-fi and all warnings and all. We wanted to make it a little more of a fun kind of look back. And this is a really cute film about a kind of a, how do I say this, junkie looking robot named WALL-E, artificial intelligence, who befriends a searcher robot named Eve. And they build a friendship together. It is so, so cute and so sweet. And it's just an awesome little film. If you've never seen WALL-E, you definitely need to check it out because it is so cute and so awesome. It is just a very, very cute little film and kind of gets you away from the fear of artificial intelligence and just kind of, you know, just laugh and have fun with it a little bit. It's really cute. So, yeah, definitely check out WALL-E. I guess we knew this would have to be on the list. This is 2001's A Space Odyssey. This is iconic. This is just completely iconic. This goes clear back to the original idea of artificial intelligence turning on us. And it's all about how the government sets up a plan to check out a mysterious artifact buried beneath the lunar surface and try to find out where it actually came from and all that type of stuff. And so they set up this supercomputer named HAL 9000 and they set off to do this. But HAL gets on his own path, let's just say it that way. and kind of, yeah, takes over. Interesting. Very interesting film. This is really where the idea for a lot of this artificial intelligence changes and turns on us This is kind of where it started although it been done throughout the generations This is where it really began to switch and where people began to really think about it was in this film. And that's why it is so iconic, and that's why it has to be number two on the list of the top seven AI films. I guess you kind of figured we probably would have to go with this. Terminator for number one. Terminator, how do you not put Terminator on your top? I mean, I don't know. It's the idea of artificial intelligence attacking and, you know, that you're never safe no matter what. It's always going to come after you. It's always going to be relentless. It's never going to stop. And that's kind of what the fear is with artificial intelligence. And, wow, Terminator is probably one of my favorite series, sci-fi series, artificial intelligence series. It's been done time after time after time. There's so many of them. Terminator, Terminator 2, Judgment Day, Terminator 3, Rise of the Machines. There's Terminator Salvation, Terminator Genesis, Terminator, all these different things. I mean, just so many of them. It's just crazy. But it's definitely iconic. It's all about artificial intelligence trying to eliminate John Connors, the man that is going to take down the AI in the future. And so to eliminate John Connors, they eliminate his mother, Sarah Connors. And it's just an iconic film. It really does deserve number one on the list. I just love it.
