Greetings, Classic Cinnamon TV fans. This is Pastor Jay here with you once again. And today, I want to speak to you and just kind of just talk about the way media is now. uh we are um we're interested in a very interesting time in our world um many places around the world have high speed internet now uh some places still don't but the majority of the places around the world have high speed internet and uh with high speed internet comes a very very interesting time in which you can have your media, your movies and TV just streaming. And that is a very, very cool, cool thing. That's why so many different companies are starting to have streaming services. And that is a fun thing to just be able to just go through, click through, see what you want, click play, and boom, it's going. That's a lot of fun. but there is a very very strange thing with this at this time because uh the idea was disney plus right disney plus was like the one of the first ones that was going to um to do this streaming service um and and and they said we're going to put all of our movies on there and it's going to and you just have a small nominal fee and you'll be able to watch all the movies you want, all the TV shows, all the stuff, all of our extensive library for a nominal fee. And that was really, really cool. And so then other companies all began to do it. Now you have CBS and ABC and ESPN and you've got Discovery Channel and you've got the WWE Network. Of course, now they moved over to Peacock Network, but that's another issue. But anyway, you have all these different networks that you can watch on streaming. And it's a very, very cool thing. But something interesting has happened with this whole situation, and that is the term that we have come to find, which is cancel culture. When we find something in this generation that is maybe not to our liking, that seems a little off or whatever, what do we talk? We talk about canceling it. That is what's kind of happened with Looney Tunes. A lot of the Looney Tunes stuff has been quote-unquote canceled. You go through and you look at it. Pepe Le Pew got canceled. Speedy Gonzalez canceled. Elmer Fudd, the hunter, can no longer hunt with a gun. How do you hunt without a gun I mean because if you can hunt with a gun they not going to give him a bow and arrow I can tell you that I don't even see them giving him a slingshot. I mean, let's be honest. So what does he do? I mean, the character of Elmer Fudd becomes almost useless in a lot of ways because of that. I mean, if he's trying to chase Bugs Bunny or Daffy Duck or whatever, and he's not trying to hunt them, well, what's he doing? That's what's happened. Okay, now, let's go over to Disney Plus, because Disney has done the same thing. Disney has been canceling, if you will, a lot of their programming. What I mean by canceling, I'm talking about making it to where it's not available to younger viewers. That's the idea of canceling, right? As of right now, that's what they're doing. They're making available the older films, but younger people cannot watch them. You have to be a certain age to watch them. because they felt that a lot of the films had offensive material to them. So a lot of those older films, like Dumbo and which I... Dumbo, come on. The Muppets are being canceled in a lot of ways, and you're going to have to not be able to watch those unless you are an adult or whatever. And so a lot of people would say, oh, well, that's cool. That's great. Okay, well, at least the kids won't have to be subject to things that are off. But yet the adults that grew up at it, they can watch it, and it's fine. And that's okay for right now. I would agree that's okay. but how far is it along until they as Disney Plus say you know what we just can't have this at all we've got to stop this completely and then they pull the whole thing from the service that's my feeling is that eventually I don't know when it's going to be I'm not saying it's going to be 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 years from now I'm not saying that I don't know when it's going to be But I'm saying my feeling is eventually that's what's going to happen. So, if you want your media, if you want to watch those old films, and you don't want to have to deal with the idea of maybe not being able to watch it when you want to watch it, what's a person to do? Well, we're coming back to this. Physical media. you don't want to be having the you know you don't want the streaming you want the streaming services well that's fine but with streaming services they can be taken away from you those things that you want to watch can be taken away from you just like that and then what do you do that's why we have to have the physical media um so what i'm getting down to is this uh This is just a wing here, just one small wing of the Classic Cinema Archives here. All around this room is filled with Blu and DVDs We have other rooms filled with Blu and DVDs And the whole idea is the fact that we do this because then we control what we want to watch. We do not have to be controlled by someone else. So what it comes down to is this. We have been adding a lot of the older Disney films to the collection because we haven't had a whole lot of the Disney films because of that, because of the fact that, you know, we could whatever. But with the way cancel culture is and with all this type of stuff, things are being taken away from us now. And so that's why we are adding a lot of those older things to our collection now. with you some of the stuff we've been adding here recently. This is just some of them, as you can see here. This is just some of them, not all of them, because we don't have time for all this. But we just want to go through quickly some of these things and just kind of let you see it, and we'll go from there. But this one is the classic Bambi. Why would I have to have Bambi on Blu-ray? Well, simply because you never know. They can't culture, the whole idea may come up with something sometime down the line that will say, hey, Bambi is offensive. I don't know. They've already deemed Dumbo offensive. So we added that one. I can see this happening. I can see this being deemed offensive sometime down the line. 101 one Dalmatians. I can see it happening just for the typical idea of the whole thing. I could see that happening. The Little Mermaid. Yeah, I can see this being offensive sometime down the line, the way things are going. So yeah, we wanted to add that one as well. Cinderella. Could it be? It wouldn't shock me. This one was a Disney reward, Disney Insiders now, but anyway, we got this one for free. It's the two sequels to The Little Mermaid, so that was kind of cool. We can see a big difference in the films, though, really. Here recently we got Finding Nemo, because you just never know. I can see this becoming something that would be offensive to some people and being canceled as well. The original Aladdin. Yeah, I can see that happening, so I'm glad we added that one. This could be offensive, sadly, in the day and age in which we're living. Hocus Pocus. It could happen. this is one of my favorite Disney films and I actually recently picked this one up because I've wanted it for years and years and years since I watched it and I had it on VHS tape I've always wanted to own it and I just never was able to get it I finally got it and that is Cool Runnings I love this film but for some reason I can see this being cancelled for stereotypes and stuff like that I could see that being canceled. Yeah, I could. The day in which we living you never know what going to get canceled and what wouldn This could happen This is the horse in the gray philano suit We could see stuff of PETA or animal cruelty or something like that It could happen. You never know. And then this would get canceled. You never know. So that's why we had to have that, have to own it, because you just never know. this one I can't imagine would be cancelled but again with the way things are you just never know this is Follow Me Boys I love this film, this is really really good it is a tremendous little film about the Boy Scouts but with it being the Boy Scouts how do you know? it could be cancelled too so that's why we have to own it and then The Muppets We have added, we got some more Muppets here, but these are the original Muppets. We got the newer Muppets, and those are not apt to be canceled for the simple reason that they are sanitized. They're not the same characters as the original characters. These are the original characters. Okay, the Muppet movie, a very, very awesome film. one of the originals and I love that. There's also Muppets Take Manhattan and Muppets in Space. Love these two. Had to get those because of the fact that they're the original Muppets. And then just while I'm doing this video of just yesterday, I actually went to our local Goodwill and ran across this and almost collapsed. This is Muppets Treasure Island. And I looked at that and I was like, I have got to have that. So, yeah, we have added all these for the simple reason that you just never know. Cancel culture is changing culture. It's changing the way we view media. So that's why we have to, if we want to watch the movies we love, we have to do this. It's about the only way you can watch what you want the way you want to watch it. So this is just the physical media talking about cancel culture, about how we watch our movies. And you want to control your narrative. You want to control what you want to watch. You have to do it this way.
