Based on an amazing graphic novel, this film takes a very, very dark route in the Batman animated universe. This one is very adult. It has some adult language, and it is very, very violent. Not overly, overly violent, but enough for an animated film. This one is really interesting in the fact that this one shows the depths that the Joker goes to try to destroy Batman, and more importantly, this shows just how far Batman will go to rid the world of the Joker. Very, very good film, but very, very adult themed. So this is not for the kids. So put the kids to bed before you watch Batman the Killing Joke. We never realized it, but you know what? Batman had a son. Hmm, interesting. This is Son of Batman. And, yeah, this is a really unique one in the fact that here we find Batman has a son, and he finds out that his father is Batman and how he wants to be the new Robin and how Batman teaches his son to fight even though his son is very, very strong-willed, shall we say, and wants to do things his way. This is the best of the films. Now, there were three total. You had Son of Batman you had Batman and Robin and you had Batman Bad Blood These three made the Son of Batman trilogy but still the best of the three is definitely Son of Batman The Dark Knight Returns. This is based on a Frank Miller graphic novel, and wow, what a graphic novel. and this is a two movie this is part one and part two of the Dark Knight Returns such an epic story that it had to be told in two parts to get the real story told in the right way you needed two parts it was just that epic of a story of the two of course number one is a little bit better but the whole story is just so amazing If you're going to watch this, you've got to watch this. If you're going to watch this, well, you have to watch this. I mean, you know, you can't watch part one without part two. You can't watch part two without part one. It's like peanut butter and jelly, two great things that go great together. You know what I mean? And that's what this is. This tells the story of Batman having to return even after he retires because of the fact that Gotham has just fallen into such a deep, dark state that they need a hero, and it's got to be Batman. So, really, really cool story. And, yeah, so Batman, The Dark Knight Returns. Probably many people grew up on the 60s TV show Batman. You know, some of us, anyway. I didn't, but anyway, a lot of us, I grew up watching it, but I didn't watch it when it was on television. I watch it on reruns, but anyway. And we remember Adam West and Burt Ward as those amazing characters of Batman and Robin and the psychedelic colors. Adam West and Burt Ward took their voices and lent them to the Batman animated movie, this one, which is Batman, The Return of the Caped Crusaders. and wow, what an amazing film. This is the first one of two of the Batman animated films and I have to say, I wish they would have done a whole bunch of them but of course we lost Adam West so there will be no more, but there's two of them. The best one of the two is of course Batman The Return of the Crusaders Still has that vibe of that 60s TV show It just so cool And how do you go wrong with having Burt Ward and Adam West relive their characters one more time Such a great show. Such a great movie. And, yeah, that's why this made the list. of iconic films this one is right up there batman under the red hood this is a and we're going to try to do this without spoilers this is a such an iconic story in the fact that batman has a new villain that he has to deal with, the Red Hood. And the Red Hood is just making it so difficult, but we're not going to spoil it, but the thing that makes it even worse is who is under the Red Hood? Batman's going to find out it's not a villain. It may be someone a little bit closer than he expects to him. And we're not going to spoil it, but man, what an emotional tale Batman Under the Red Hood is. It is such a great film. It is awesome. And that's why this one made the list. It could easily have been number one, but this one made the list at number three. Now, I am a huge fan of the Batman animated series. I grew up on that. When I was a kid, I came home from school, and I would plop myself right down in front of the TV before doing homework or anything. I sat and I watched the Batman animated series TV show. I had to watch it every single day. It was part of my daily life. I had to do it. And I just love that. And during the Batman animated series run, they did two films. And we're going to share both of them with you in a very interesting way. So here we go. Going in at number two is Mask of the Phantasm, this one here. This is a very unique tale. A lot of people would consider this film the number one Batman animated film of all time. And that hard to argue because it is a very spectacular film And we not going to go great into detail on what it is because we just don have time for all that But we will share this It is a very great tale It is very awesome There a lot of iconic animation and it is really, really cool. But it just is edged out, in my opinion, by the number one film on the list. And what is that number one film on the list? Batman Sub-Zero. Now, the reason I put Batman Sub-Zero as number one on the list is because of the iconic story. I remember the emotion of the story of Mr. Freeze, how he loses his wife, Nora, and how he wants to freeze her, and how he wants to save her, and how through this whole thing they end up cutting his funding and thus they're going to cut the plug from his cryogenic wife and she passes away and all the chemicals change his whole being. And he is literally just a man that is heartbroken. And it is so cool. Those two episodes, Heart of Ice Part 1 and Part 2, are so iconic in the Batman animated series that they took it and they made a whole full-length feature film. And that's why I love this film so much. It's taking those two episodes that I love so much and building on it and making it a bigger film and so much more iconic. And I just love it so much.
