Music The conversation of the overcomer. I love this. This is really interesting because this all came from a movie quote, and I'll tell you that later in the message. But this is where this whole message started from, and we'll tell you that in a few moments. But the message I want to talk to you about is because I think we need it in this day and age as Christians. see Christians have a defeatist attitude so often we can't do this, we can't do that we don't have enough funds we don't have enough people we don't have this, we don't have we have this attitude sometimes and I look at it sometimes and I think what happened to that verse I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me we look and we say I can do all things through Christ for strengthening people right that's all things it's not some things it's not a couple things it's all things is it become part of cancel culture we know that term cancel culture cancel culture is the type of thing that if something offends then we cancel it we don't do it no more we eliminate it we pretend it didn't happen Now, I have a movie blog, right, and an entertainment blog that I do every week. And one of my videos this week, a feature video, we talked about cancel culture and what cancel culture is doing to our media, to our movies, and to classic movies and different things like that. We've seen Disney canceling so much on their Disney Plus app because it offends. There are things that are deemed offensive in this day and age. Dumbo, the classic cartoon movie Dumbo, has been deemed offensive. Peter Pan, the classic cartoon movie, has been deemed offensive. the Muppets the classic Muppets have been deemed offensive and now on Disney Plus you have to be a certain age you have to be an adult to watch this because otherwise it's too offensive and I look at that sometimes and I think this is creeping into our churches because what we're doing is we're looking at the Bible and we're saying well this is offensive so we won't talk about it anymore We won't say anything about it. And so much of the scripture is becoming cancelled. Canceled culture is becoming into, has been creeping into the church, and now it's beginning to take away some of the word of God. The word of God is a medicine for the soul. And if you start taking away the ingredients to a medicine, what happens? doesn't work. So if we start taking away the ingredients of God's word, then what happens? It doesn't work. You've got to take it in its whole. You've got to take it in the whole part. You can't take what you like and discard what you don't like because it just doesn't work. Are we canceling God's word because it's being offensive? I think that's what many churches are doing. See, God has poured out blessings so much upon His people that our conversation should not be one of defeat. Our conversation should be one of victory. We should be overcomers. We should have an overcoming conversation. What does the Bible say? It says that they overcame him, Satan, by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimonies. And they loved not their lives under the death. That is it. We look and we say, well, it's Revelation. But that is for all of us. That's what all Christians should be. We should have the conversation of an overcomer. Because God is still God. The God that is in the Revelation age is the God that lived in the New Testament age and the Old Testament age. He is the same God that started it all when he said, let there be light. He's the same God. He never changes. He's the same yesterday, today, forever. He never changes. The only thing that changes is us. And sadly when we change We try to change God's word And when we change God's word Then we eliminate the blessing that is God in our lives So that's why we've got to watch what we're doing So the question today is Do you have an overcomer's conversation? Is your conversation one of overcoming? When people talk to you and you talk to people, they know beyond a shadow of a doubt that you belong to the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. They know beyond a shadow of a doubt that you believe Genesis, the Revelation, and all points in between. And there is nothing there that you do not believe. Is that the way we do? Is that the way we are? Are we living that way in this day and age as Christians? Colossians was written by Paul to the church at Colossi. And in two verses here, he says something very interesting about the way we should live and the way we should be and the way we should talk. And let's look at it today. It says in verse 6 of chapter 2 of Colossians, it says these words. And I love this. as ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord. Beautiful. The greatest gift that has ever been given to mankind is the gift of Jesus Christ. There's no other gift that has been given that could even compare to that. I love what it says in John 3.16. It says, for God so loved the world, and I want you to understand that. He didn't say he loved just certain people. He said he loved the whole world. Isn't that beautiful? That beautiful song that the kids used to sing, whether you look like or white, all the pressures that you say. And that's what it all goes down to. It doesn't matter what your background is. It doesn't matter what you look like. It doesn't matter what your skin color is. It doesn't matter how you dress. doesn't matter what you've done. It doesn't matter God loves you no matter what. And that is what makes it so cool. He loved the world so much that he gave his only God and his son. When you think about that, think about the idea. He willingly gave Jesus up on the cross of Calvary, not because Jesus needed to die for himself. No, because we needed a Savior. every single one of the human race needed a savior every single one is born into sin and we die in sin unless we accept the savior That what it comes down to So we needed a savior I love what someone said and it so many years ago but it so true They said if the world's greatest need would have been for healing, they would have sent a doctor. God would have sent a doctor. If it was for economy or for money issues in the world, he would have sent an economist. If we would have needed political stuff, he would have sent a politician. But what our greatest need was a savior. So he sent Jesus to die to be the remission of sins. and that's what we needed. We're all looking for something that's going to save our world. So we look for politicians. Maybe this one is going to change the whole infrastructure of our world. Maybe we ought to stop looking to man and maybe we ought to start looking to the heavens and start looking to Jesus. I think that's what we need to do. We need to stop looking for man. Man is not going to change this world. The only one that's going to change this world is Jesus. The love of God is the only thing that's going to change this world. It's not going to be in man. It's not going to be in politics. It's not going to be for any of these infrastructures and these politics and things, these laws and these sets, the things that they're doing. That's not what's going to save this world. It's only going to be Jesus. The beautiful old psalm says, Jesus is the answer. For the world today, above Him, there's no other. Jesus is the way. And that's the point. Jesus, God said, His only begotten Son. Only Son. And for what purpose? That who's who ever believed in it should not perish. Now does that mean we will never This whole body will never die That's not what it's talking about It's talking about The more important part Which is the soul Sometimes we get a big step And we think well This Is me This body is me This body is just a shell The real you is deep down inside. And that's what's going to live on. That's what's going to go on. I'm amazed because I wonder what it's going to be like when we get to heaven. I really do. I wonder what it's going to be like. I wonder what this body is going to be like when we get to heaven. I know it's going to be a glorified body. I know these old knees that I have trouble with. Every day of my life, that they're not going to be giving me a problem no more. Hallelujah. I know this old back that I had, that I had issues with my back. I know that ain't going to hurt no more. I know when I do this and my shoulder's going like that, that's not going to happen no more. So I know I'll have a glorified body. But what's my body going to look like? Is it going to look like this? Is it going to look like me? Or am I going to be different? No, God never said that in His Word. So I don't know. I don't know if my face is going to be the same. I don't know if my body is going to look the same. I don't know. But I tell you what, I don't care. I don't care. I just want to get there. I just want to get there. I don't care what it looks like. I don't care. As long as God knows who I am and I know who I am, I can meet new people. I don't care. That's the way I feel. That's the way I feel. But I do know my glorified body is going to be something special. And that's what I want to see. I want to get there so I can have it. And it only comes if I have received Christ Jesus. That's the only way I get there. So this is interesting. He continues, he says, If you've received Christ Jesus the Lord, so yet walk ye in Him. I love that. So walk ye in Him. Now, we know Paul wrote most of the New Testament. The majority of it. He was a prolific writer. Well, he wrote to the church in Ephesus something that kind of goes along with this. In Ephesians 2 and 10, he wrote these words. For we are his workmanship created in Christ Jesus on the good works which God had prepared before that we should walk in them. We should walk and talk and have our conversation Christ-like. Now, I'm not going to ask you to raise your hand I'm not going to ask you to do any of that today But I want you to look deep down in your heart and your life Right now And I want you to examine yourself Is your daily conversation A godly one? Is your daily walk a godly one? Do we walk the way of a master? Do we walk in his steps? You remember that old song It was a big thing that happened to me back then. Everybody was wearing bracelets and necklaces. I don't know what happened. Just passed. But back in the day, there was a thing. Everybody was wearing bracelets and necklaces and all kinds of stuff. And they put bumper stickers on their car and all the types of stuff. And it was four simple letters. W-W-J-D. What would Jesus do? Right? What happened to that? Did that be cancelled too? I don't know I don't know But it may be interesting That just kind of passed away But that's what we should do We should live What would Jesus do Every day in which we live? Our daily walk From the moment we roll out of the bed And put our feet on the floor Should be Lord Help me walk in your steps That's the way we should live That's why he says walk ye in him. Now verse 7 says rooted and build up in him. I like that term rooted. Rooted means get your roots down. There was a thing for our town yesterday when we were at the radio station doing the weather and all. There was a possibility of a tornado. That's what it said. There's a possibility of an isolated tornado. I thought about that and I thought Interesting. You know my first thought when I thought tornado? I thought, that tornado comes by, it's going to rip up trees, right? Right? Especially trees that don't have what? Roots, exactly. In our front yard, I'm not going to say nothing to pull that thing up, but I'm going to say it's going to take it from. and go take a home store to pull that thing up. And I'm telling you, there is a root in that ground that's about this big. It is humongous, man. There's a root down there, boy. I mean, that thing is, that thing's got a strong root, man. And that's what we have to have as Christians. What, what, what do you mean, roots? Right here? We need to be rooted in God's word. His word have I hid in my heart that what? I might not sin against him. That's what the Bible says. That's what we have to have. We've got to get rooted in God's word. Get our roots down Get deep down in God word so that we have a strong foundation Part 2 Build up Right You've got to get your roots down in God's Word and you've got to have a strong foundation. I love what the psalmist said in Psalm 1, verses 1-3, when he said, Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of the sinners nor standeth in the sea of the scornful but his delight is in the law of the Lord and his law that he meditate day and night like that and he shall be like what? a tree planted by the river's water which brings forth his fruit is his season his leaf also shall not weather whatsoever he doest shall prosper I love that we've got to have a strong foundation and we've got to have our roots down. How do we get a strong foundation? A strong foundation comes through Christ Jesus. It comes through Jesus. I love this, the parable of the wise man and the foolish man. The foolish man built his house upon what? The sand. The sinking sands of this world. You cannot build your life on this world. because this world is going to destroy you. That's what's going to happen. It's not about this world. This world is not our home. No matter how much you think you're going to be here forever, you're not. There are people that are building their lives like they're going to be here for a rest of their existence forever and ever and ever and ever. There is coming a day when every single man, woman, boy and girl is going to die unless the rapture happens and then some will go that way. But no matter what it is, we're all leaving this world. You say, well, if I don't go in a rapture, I'll be here. Yeah, for a little while. God forbid you don't want to be here, but that happens. Because then eventually this world is going to burn up. And then what's going to happen? You're going with it. so no matter what we are not staying here no matter how much we think we are we are not staying here it's not about this world this world is not our home this is just a passing point we are going to live forever somewhere some will live in heaven others will live elsewhere and you know what I'm talking about people don't like you to say that word in this day Don't say that word. It's what? Offense. It offends. The wise man building his house on a rock. The foolish man building his house on this rock. What happened? The storms came through. The storms came through. The foolish man's house went and collapsed. What happened to the wise man's house? It's the strong. Why? Because it was founded on the rock. And if you find your, or build your life, build your house, your existence on Christ Jesus, and on God's holy word, you will not be destroyed. Now, that doesn't mean that storms won't happen. We're all going to have storms in life. I would love to see someone that have gone through most of their life and can come to me, and they're like 80, 90 years old, and say, I've never had one bad thing ever happen to me in my whole entire existence of 80 or 90 years. I'd love to see that person. Because I just don't think they exist. I just don't think they exist because we all go through troubles. We all have things. It's how we respond to them. Now, if you build your lives on this world, what's going to happen when those are the things happen? You're going to sit there and you go, wow. Why is this happening to me? And the sad part about it is most of the time, people when bad things happen, what do they do? They sit there and they get on their knees and they go, God, why did you do this to me? Blame God. That's the real good thing to do, yeah. What does this word talk about? It talks about the bad things come from God, doesn't it? No. Absolutely not. God doesn't bring the bad things in our life. So why does he get the blame? Right? Why does God get the blame for all the bad things when he doesn't bring them? I'm amazed. I'm amazed. Here's another thing. stores come through and you know trees come down and they destroy houses and you go to the insurance company and you go well look at what happened and they go oh they're not going to do nothing it was what an act of God you know what that is that's just the way to get out of paying money that's all that is that's all that is God gets the blame for all the bad things and God doesn't do it unbelievable when we have our lives established and the rock as our foundation the winds can blow the storms can rage and we have a foundation that is much stronger than the things of this world and that's what it comes down to we must be what? rooted and built up in Him. And what? Established, or it says in the King James Version, established, but it means established, in the faith. We must have our faith in Christ and the cross. Nothing else is going to happen. Nothing else is going to work. And then he says, as ye have been taught. I like that. True Bible teaching, not false Bible teaching. I get into a lot of trouble sometimes But that's okay I'm going to tell the truth Whether people like it or not There are churches That will not teach this word No Oh yes They will not teach this word They sit there and they say Well I can't Okay Preachers Okay Preachers If somebody's watching this, if you're a preacher and you sit there and you say it, and I'm pooping, if you've got a message and you start reading it, you go, well, now, wait a minute. If I say this, that's going to offend somebody, and I best not say it. You know what? You're going to start rubbing your face on the altar. You're going to start getting back where God is because something's not right. It's not about whether you offend somebody. Now, you shouldn't go in to try to offend people. That's a whole different thing. And you don't say something that's going to offend somebody just for the sake of it. That's a whole different issue than you're trying to do it in your own strength. Don't do that. But if you're taking God's word and it somehow offends somebody or hits somebody hard, they needed to hear it. Believe me, I sat where you are. I sat where all these people are. I sat and watched videos for those that are watching the video. I sat and watched preachers on videos. I've been there. I know what it is. And I know when a preacher says something. And he goes. And it hits me. And I sit there and I go. And I have one of two choices. I say it before. And I say it again. I have had one of two choices. When that arrow. Hits me. I can get better. Or I can get better And that the point True Bible teaching will help you get better if you accept it And then I love what he says here in the final part of this chapter, of this verse is here today. He says, abounding, abounding, I love that word, an adjective meaning very plentiful or abundant. See that's what God wants for each and every one of us He wants us to abound In the grace and the blessings of God But we don't want to do that Because we don't want to Live in God's word We don't want to abound Just let me get by Lord There was a person in one of our churches And I'm not calling this person out But I'm just saying There was a person in one of our churches She sat there and she said, if I get to heaven by the skin of my teeth, I'll be satisfied. I understand that. I mean, getting to heaven anyway is better than not getting there. I don't want to get in just by sneaking in the back door. I want to go in rejoicing. I want to go in with a blessing on my lips. I want to go in with a praise on my heart. I want to go in when I get here. that they can open up the gates and say, come on in. Share your blessing. Tell the Lord about what God has done for you. And how happy you are to be here. I don't want to sneak in under the gate. I'm not bound. And then he says, bear in with what? Thanksgiving. I love that. Paul wrote in 1 Thessalonians 5.18, he wrote, In everything give thanks, for this is the will of God and Christ Jesus concerning you. we had to have an attitude of thanksgiving in all things. I don't thank God that something bad happened, but I thank God that it could have been worse. Right? Remember the time that we got sideswiped. We're on our way, and somebody just started coming across the lane and just hit our tire and sent us into a spinning mountain off the road. And I stand and I look at that As it happened And you know, like you do When you first happen, you sit there and you go You know You get all mad and you start stomping around Get ready, get ready, get ready You know But then you stop for a minute and you go Okay, you okay, I'm okay Everybody okay, okay Could be worse Could have been told Car could have been told, okay I'm glad I have insurance I'm glad she got in charge. I'm glad she's going to pay my car repairs. Those are the things you thank God for. You don't thank God that someone broke down. You thank God you have the funds to pay a pair of it, right? You don't thank God for the bad things, but you thank God that God will make a way for the season. Be no way. God said he would supply all our needs. So that's what we thank God for. We thank God in all things. now as we come to the end of the scripture I'm going to share this with you today and then we're going to conclude I said that there was this whole message came from a quote from a movie now as I said I have a movie blog, I have an entertainment blog that's what I do and so I watch movies I do all this there was a movie that we watched at our house just a few weeks ago many of you may have remembered This is an old movie from, like, I think the 50s. Late 50s, early 60s, something like that. And it was called Tammy and the Batchelor. Okay? Some of you may know that one. Maybe you don't. But it's about a teenager getting into her adult years. And she's being raised by her grandfather. Her grandfather gets picked up by the cops for moonshipping because they're Bat Hills people. And he says, you can't stay here on the farm. So he calls a relative and he says, her to go live with them. Well, these people are a little well-to-do. Have a lot more than what they have. She goes and lives there with them for a while. But she listens to their conversation. And at one point in the movie, Tammy, in her backwoods way of talking, says to one of her relatives, she says, you talk so poor when you've got so much. Bing! You know, the light bulb went off when I heard that. I was like, okay, right back down. You know, because it was just, that was perfect. And the first thing that popped in my mind was that's exactly the way Christians live. Our talk is so poor when we've got so much. God has given us such blessings and yet we still talk so poor oh I barely make it every day of my life I can't do it oh we can't do nothing the church we've got all this thing in our mind that we can't do it and God owns all the cattle on a thousand hills and all the potatoes in the hills and he's saving his supply on our knees and we'll just ask and the Bible itself says And if you ask, you will what? Receive. If you seek, you will what? Find. If you knock, it will be what? Opened. The resources are right there for us. We just got to ask. So why do we talk so poor when we ask so much? Amen? I mean, that's the point. we've been given so much by God that we should have words of blessing what it comes down to is our final verse that I just want to share with you and then we're going to pray today and it's this Proverbs 18.21 says this death and life are in the power of the tongue and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof so when we speak the overcomer's conversation what's going to happen? We're going to be overcomers. But if we speak the defeatist conversation, what's going to happen? We're going to be what? Defeated. That's what it comes down to. It all comes down to what we speak. You can speak your blessings into existence, and you can also speak your cursings into existence. It all just comes down to what your conversation is. that's how we're going to do the work Amen. Thank you.
