Music Greetings classic cinema and TV fans, this is Jason Lockhart, Pastor Jay here with you once again and today we're counting down another top 7 list, this is the top 7 Tom Hanks films yeah, we have been watching a lot of Tom Hanks and trying to look through a lot of the things and trying to get a good mixture of some really good films, some of our favorite ones that he did. And now this will probably not be everybody's cup of tea, some of the stuff that we've done, but we've tried to make it a good mixture of a little bit of everything. Early Tom Hanks, later Tom Hanks. Try to make it really some of the favorites that we've seen. And so let's jump into the list. recently we just uh picked this up and just watched this and i i was really impressed with this one this is saving mr banks um this one i was really shocked about i i wasn't uh expecting a lot uh but as i watched this i was really really impressed with um the way uh tom hanks portrayed Walt Disney. I think he did a very, very tremendous job in this. Very believable. And I like the story. It's a true story of how they made Mary Poppins and how much there was a lot of trouble in behind the scenes trying to get it made and all. And what it's all about. It is really, really a good film. And Tom Hanks does a tremendous job as Walt Disney. I definitely suggest checking out Saving Mr. Banks if you haven't. It is really one of Tom Hanks' better roles. I really am impressed with him in this one. A Money Pit. Wow. What a fun film. Tom Hanks in this one plays a guy who gets his dream home and then finds out there's so much that has to be done, and every time he turns around, it's more and more that has to go into it and whatever. And it's just, I'll tell you what this is. This is Tom Hanks version of Mr Blanding Builds His Dream House or George Washington Slept Here That what this is It a modern version of one of those films uh but it a lot of fun it really really fun it it just all the stuff going on and just falling apart everything falling apart and it's just a lot of fun um early tom hanks and uh really really a lot of fun i love the money pit tom hanks and a dog yeah turner and hooch Wow Yeah Tom Hanks gets saddled with a dog He's a police officer That gets saddled with a dog And Of all things it has to be that kind of a dog We know about these dogs These dogs like to slobber Well I mean they don't like to slobber But they slobber And every time he turns He's just like Dripping And it's so nasty And it's so funny and it's a lot of fun. It's a great, great film. Turner and Hooch, I love it. I just, I don't know. Ever since the first time I ever saw it on TV, I was like, this is great. And so, yeah, I had to pick that one up and put it in the collection. It is so awesome. Turner and Hooch coming in at number five. I'm going to tell you something. When you can carry a movie by yourself, the majority of a movie by yourself, You are a tremendous actor. And Tom Hanks here shows he can carry a movie. I absolutely love Cast Away. Maybe some people don't. I absolutely think this is Tom Hanks showing that he can carry a movie. I mean, unbelievable. He gets stuck on a desert island, and he's just trying to learn to survive. And it is so unbelievable. the scene of him finally making fire I have made fire it's just unbelievable just a great great film shows his range of emotion during this time as he's losing grips with reality and just and the scene he has an abscess too and that scene where he finally has to do something to get that tooth out. Send chills up and down man It is just a great film I love it That why we put Cast Away on the list The film that made Tom Hanks a star Big Yeah oh man who didn watch this film as a kid and think, boy, that would be kind of cool, but then by the end said, you know what, I think I'll stay myself as a kid. It was so cool. A young kid dreams of being big and he makes a wish and his wish comes true. He wakes up one morning and he is big, but he's still that kid and he has to try to be in the daily lifestyle of an adult, yet he's a kid. Unbelievable. Just a great, great film. I love this film. One of my favorites. Big. Yeah, definitely an awesome film. Now, the final two easily could be flip-flopped. They're both amazing films, and they're both Tom Hanks at his best. but trying to figure it out I thought which one has a little more of an impact so we went with number two as the Green Mile this easily could be number one Tom Hanks is absolutely amazing in this film and this is a Stephen King story and wow Stephen King is known for his horror films this is not a horror film there is some very very rough scenes in the film and very very somewhat terrifying stuff going on but it's not a horror film it is an actual supernatural tale about a man that is you know accused of murder but yet he was given an amazing gift of healing and wow It is so spectacular It is probably one of the best performances of Tom Hanks It really is amazing It is very adult It has very adult themes and so it not something that you can sit down with the whole family but it is Tom Hanks at his best It really is awesome and it deserves to be checked out Green Mile comes in at number two Now coming in at number one this is Forrest Gump Just recently picked this up. We haven't cleaned it up at all like we should. That's why we got a little thing there. But anyway, I had to add this to the collection. We're adding this because, and we're putting this at number one, because I think the story is just so iconic. It is just amazing to see all the different things. And it's not a true life tale. And it knows this is not a true life tale. It's just a tale. Because Forrest Gump is interacting with all these amazing characters and all these historic characters throughout time. And so we know this is not a true life tale. We know that. We all know that. But it's just a time to escape and kind of see a tale of a simple man that affects lives. And how that basically what it comes down to is that all of us can affect someone's life by just being kind and just being nice. And I just think that is really something we need in this generation very much so. I love the film. And I think it is a sweet film. It is somewhat adult. It has a lot of adult language. and it has a lot of adult themes, and it is not for the whole family by no means, but it is a very, very good film, and I think it deserves number one on the list for Skump.
