Welcome to this silver screen spotlight here on Classic Cinema Plus. This is Jason Lockard, Pastor Jay here with you. And today we are dealing with ice, ice, baby. Yes, we're talking about the release of Cool as Ice. As we are recording this, this is really interesting. There have been talks of a possibility of a Cool as Ice 2. I don't know if that will ever happen, but it's really interesting. Kino Lorber Studio Classics released this on Blu-ray. And who would have ever thought we would have got a cool as ice on Blu-ray. But, wow, Kino Lorber always comes through with releases that, some that I would never have dreamed and others that I have wanted for and longed for for so long. And wow I remember this film okay I remember hearing about this film because see when I was a kid Vanilla Ice was a big deal Hip artists you know white boy hip artists just strange But the interesting thing was that I remember this film, it was a big deal for a lot of people, and yet I wasn't able to check it out because I was too young, man. I was too young and, you know, just didn't get to do it. And then it sort of seemed to just kind of disappear. It just seemed to just kind of just go like, phew, it was gone. And, you know, you couldn't find it on television. You couldn't find it very much anywhere, you know. And if it did happen, I usually wasn't able to watch it or whatever, if perchance it came on. It was just one of those ones that passed me by, and I could never get to it. So this is really awesome to see. This now to come on DVD or on Blu-ray is just insane. Really, really a very, very cool film. Deals with Vanilla Ice playing a hip-hop artist. Okay, you know, what else can he play? but he playing a hip artist who coming through town and one of his crew bikes breaks down so they have to get it fixed while he in town He sees an interesting young lady you see her there on the cover And yeah, and she's, he kind of falls for her and tries to pursue her and she doesn't want anything to do with him. and then before long, things happen, and then boom, a little bit of a spark happens. And yeah, it's really an interesting film. Keena Lorber did a great job with this thing. I'm so excited to see this. This thing looks amazing. This was the first time I ever watched it, so I can't compare it to anything else. But I will say, this has to be the best it's ever looked. It just, the colors pop, like retro pop. I mean, it's like eye candy. It's so beautiful. All the colors, Vanilla Ice, wearing all them crazy colors, they pop off the screen. It's just amazing. You got, with this Blu-ray, it's unbelievable. You get an audio commentary. Historians Alexandra Heller and Josh Nelson dealing with all of the stuff going on in this film with Vanilla Ice and all the different actors and all the stuff and the film itself just amazing Theatrical trailer so awesome Just a great great release Love it so much And I'm going to tell you, if you have never seen Cool as Ice, I definitely suggest it. There's not really a lot of bad language in it. There's one little word, I will say, that is said that's a little off and that I didn't think was necessary, but that's okay. Other than that, it was really, really very clean, very good, really awesome film, and I just love it. I just love it. So if you're a fan of that 90s films, if you're a fan of Vanilla Ice, if you're a fan of this type of stuff, I do highly suggest checking out Cool as Ice, Vanilla Ice.
