Transcript: Jesus Raises Lazarus from the Dead: A Miraculous Sign of Faith

Jesus raises Lazarus from the dead. A miracle that Jesus did. Lazarus and his sisters, Mary and Martha, were good friends with Jesus. One day Lazarus became very sick. Mary and Martha told Jesus about Lazarus' illness and asked him to come see their brother, since he was traveling in a region close to their home. But instead of going immediately, Jesus decided to wait for two days and then left for their home. He told his disciples, This sickness will not kill Lazarus. No, God will reveal the great power he has given to his son through this situation. When Jesus finally entered the town, Martha came running towards him crying, Jesus, Lazarus has died. If you would have been here, he would still be alive But I know, even now, that God will give you anything you ask of him He will be alive, Jesus encouraged her Yes, I know, replied Martha He will come to life at the end of time When God raises all the dead people to enter his kingdom But Jesus said, I am the resurrection and the life If you trust in me you will live even though you die Do you believe that Martha Yes I do she said Martha went home and sent her sister to Jesus, who was still outside the town. When Mary got to Jesus, she said, If you would have been here, Lazarus would not be dead. And Jesus asked her, Where did you bury him? When Jesus saw the grave, he started crying. The people seeing this asked themselves, Hasn't he performed many miracles? Why didn't he heal his friend? Jesus asked them to move the stone from in front of the tomb. He has been here for some days now, Martha said. His body is probably already rotting, and it will smell awful. Didn't I tell you that I would show my power through him? Jesus replied. and they removed the stone. Jesus gave thanks to God. Thank you for hearing me. Then he turned towards the grave and said, Lazarus, come out. Right in that moment, Lazarus came back to life and walked out of the tomb still covered in his burial sheets. The people witnessing this now believe that Jesus was truly sent by God. Thank you.
