Greetings Classic Cinema and TV fans, this is Jason Lockard here with you today. And today is a somber day as we're releasing this video for the simple reason that this day is the day that we remember the amazing icon that was Elvis Presley. As you can see, we have our Elvis Presley shirt on today. and because the day that we are releasing this, making this video public, is the day that we remember his passing. As we're releasing this video, if you watch it later, it's going to be different, but this is the 44th year anniversary of the death of Elvis Presley. Now Elvis Presley, Elvis Aaron Presley was an amazing singer. We all know that. He entertained millions of people and still entertains millions of people with his videos and his music even to this day. But the interesting thing about Elvis was that he also did some amazing films. And we want to share with you some of our favorite Elvis films here today. Of course, who doesn't remember probably his first film ever, Love Me Tender. An amazing film. I remember my dad telling me about this film as I was growing up And I was starting to get into films and Dad always told me watch Love Me Tender You need to watch that He said, I remember when that film first came out, and my mom took me and my brother, and we watched Elvis Presley's very first film, Love Me Tender. And to have that film in this amazing collection of 50s icons is just amazing. We love having this in our collection. very cool as you can see Elvis loved me tender in this film you could see how Elvis was just starting but he still had that chemistry he still had that persona he still had that way about him that was just amazing he would go on to play many different films throughout his career many of them became what we would call Hollywood fluff, where they were boy meets girl, boy chases girl, boy gets girl type films, including some of them which I love, which is Spin Out and Double Trouble. Love this double feature, musical double feature. Just a great, great release. Love that. And what I always liked was Elvis in the Middle East. It just was interesting with Harem Scare'em. That was just a fun film. It was so much fun. I don't know. There's just something about that one. But probably my favorite film of all time is this one, and it is Jailhouse Rock. This is where you really got to see Elvis spread his wings and really, really show that he could act and he could really bring the dramatic chops, if you will, to his acting. And I just love this release of Jailhouse Rock. It's one of my favorites. But today what we want to do is we want to spotlight a newer release and it all from the good folks at Warner Archive and that is are you ready Here we go this one This is the brand new the newest release from Elvis on Blu-ray. This is from Warner Archive. This is Elvis, and it happened at the World's Fair. Now, this is a really interesting film in the fact that Elvis Presley plays a pilot who has a partner of a pilot as well, and they have this business. But the only problem is his partner has a little bit of a gambling problem, and he loves to gamble so much that he bets the plane in the game and ends up losing the plane, and then it's up to Elvis and his buddy to try to find a way to get that plane back. Well, they end up going clear across the country to go to the World's Fair and then to try to get the plane back. And what they end up doing is Elvis ends up finding the girl and all. And it's just a fun film. This film is not trying to say anything political. It's not trying to do anything major like that. So many films try to be politically minded. They try to say something. They try to do something about social justice or something. And that's not what this film is trying to do. This film is just trying to entertain you, and it does just that. Elvis Presley singing, Elvis Presley doing his thing, and just a fun little film. Very, very cool. Love it so very much. And when you look at this release, it's so amazing because the colors are just so beautiful. The film looks to be restored and looks amazing. The colors are amazing. The picture quality is perfect. No sorts of damage or anything to the print. The audio is just amazing. It just pops. There's no hissing, no popping, no none of that. It just a great great release And the thing that really interesting about this too is if you watch this definitely watch out for a very very young Hollywood icon Kurt Russell Yes, Kurt Russell is in this in his very, very first film appearance. This is unbelievable. So, yeah, definitely, definitely check this one out. It is so, so, so very cool. And we thank Warner Archive for sending this our way.
