And you know what? This time around, we're heading closer and closer every single day to the month of Halloween 2021. It's really been something the last couple of years. last year and this year continuing as we are doing this. We're still in this weird, crazy time of COVID-19. And it's just been crazy. But something that has been the bright spot in all this craziness is amazing companies releasing amazing entertainment for us the movie fans to enjoy through all this craziness. And one of the shining lights in all these companies is Kino Lorber. Wow. And they have released some absolutely stellar, amazing Vincent Price films. We're going to highlight just a few of the releases here today. But amazing stuff. Vincent Price is probably one of my favorite horror movie stars of all time. He is literally an icon, in my opinion. And I've rented the house on Haunted Hill tonight so that my wife can give a party. A haunted house party. She's so amusing. He could have made a career in dramatic acting, But after a few roles playing a little more of a horror type thing, people began to see he really excelled there. There was just something special about it. And then he started doing more and more and more of that. And wow, he became an icon of horror. And then he just kind of went with it. It was like, okay, so this is my life. This is what I'll do. Okay, I'm cool with it. and thankfully he did because, man, do we get some amazing stuff from Vincent Price. But Keen of Lover Studio Classics, their label decided to release a bunch of Vincent Price films, and we have three we want to talk about this time around, and we're going to start off with this one. This is an older Vincent Price film. Now, this isn't really what you call horror. This is more film noir, but wow. You can see Vincent Price is going into something. He's starting to head towards the horror genre, if you will, with this. This is The Web. The Web. I love it. A 1947 film noir. And here, Vincent Price plays this executive that is, how should I say this without spoiling it? I'm trying to be non-spoiler here. There's a guy that was put in prison, and he finally gets out, and he wants to kind of settle up, if you will, with Vincent Price. and Vincent Price this long drawn thing without trying to spoil it things go a little bad And then he tries to catch Edmund O in the web of deceit and all. And it is, wow, such a great film. I love this film so much. I have to say, This one is just something special. It also has William Bendix in it, and I love William Bendix. William Bendix is known probably mostly for playing Riley in the Life of Riley radio and TV show. But William Bendix was an amazing actor. He actually played Babe Ruth in a movie about Babe Ruth's life, which was amazing. but just a great actor. This one is spectacular. Keenalorva Studio Classics have given us an audio commentary, an amazing audio commentary, with professor and film scholar Jason A. Ney, and the theatrical trailer is included in this, and this glorious black-and-white film noir is just tremendous. It is gorgeous. If you've never seen this film, I definitely highly suggest checking out The Web. While it's not a horror film per se, it does have a little bit of that horror feel, that kind of mysterious kind of craziness. And so that can really be a good thing to watch leading towards Halloween. So yeah, definitely if you've never checked out The Web, I do highly suggest this Blu-ray from King of Lorber Studio Classic. Now we're getting into more of the actual horror with Vincent Price. Kena Lourdes Studio Classics releasing two amazing, amazing Blu-rays for the month of September. And wow, are these absolutely stellar. Edgar Allan Poe is known for his amazing works and some people love Edgar Allan Poe, others maybe not so much but one thing is for sure, everybody knows Edgar Allan Poe well I suppose you're right in a way, Walt sure I'm right even if you've never read a single line of anything that he's ever done you know the name and probably if nothing else you know simply The Raven and that is Edgar Allan Poe but this is a brand new release coming up in September from Keenalora Studio Classics and this is an Edgar Allan Poe film adaptation I should say this is Vincent Price in the Tomb of Legia Wow. This is really an interesting film. And I don't want to go into great detail and try to spoil this thing, but I will say it comes with a slipcover. That's pretty cool. We always love a slipcover. I know that sounds really strange, but I do. I always love a slipcover. But anyway, Vincent Price is in this film, and this is directed by Roger Corman. Roger Corman, people. Roger Corman, come on. Roger Corman. We know Roger Corman. Everybody knows Roger Corman. Roger Corman did those old B-horror films and sci-fi films from back in the day. And, wow, what an amazing, amazing guy. Loved his stuff that he did. I've watched so many of them, and it's just amazing. But anyway this film basically is about a guy who is basically going insane because of the loss of his wife Legia And I don want to go any further than that because if you start diving into it then you going to spoil it And we're trying not to be spoilers here, so I don't want to go deep into it, but we'll just say it that way. He loses Legia and he slowly becomes insane. although it doesn't look like it, but he is. Love this. If you're watching the video, you're going to get to see this. If you're not, you're not going to be able to see it. But anyway, if you're listening to the audio. But I love that picture of Vincent Price there with that big top hat and the weird sunglasses. That is just so cool. Wow. Just a great, great film. Very short. produced in 1965 and only 82 minutes. So it's very, very short. You could knock that out in no time flat. Now, for the bonus features here, wow. Not only do we get one audio commentary, not do we just get two audio commentaries, we get three audio commentaries. Three audio commentaries, people. This is unbelievable. One with film historian Tim Lucas. One with producer and director Roger Corman. That's worth the price right there alone. And then also an audio commentary by Elizabeth Shepard, who is in this film playing a dual role, which is really awesome. Theatrical trailer, a Joe Dante featurette, let's say, about this film Tomb of Ligia, which is amazing. Just great stuff. Definitely, if you have never seen this Tomb of Ligia, or if you have seen it and you want it in an amazing Blu-ray, I definitely highly suggest this one. This one is really, really good. Definitely worthwhile from Kino Loro Studio Classics. I like it. I like it. And then finally we have Theater of Blood. Yes, Theater of Blood. Vincent Price and Diana Rigg. probably two of my favorites. Diana Rigg is probably best known for her role in The Avengers. Not The Avengers that most people think of. No. We're talking about The British Avengers. The British Avengers is a spy series, you know, type of mystery series. I remember watching this as a child. my parents would take me to the library and we had a big huge library with all kinds of videos and all and you could go and rent them and they would take me every weekend right after school on Fridays and we would go and I would pick out some of the things that I wanted to watch or that we would want to watch for the weekend and one week I saw The Avengers now whether I was really thinking what it was going to be whether I was thinking maybe it was a version of the Marvel Avengers. I don't know. But I remember picking it up for the first time and watching it and being pretty much enthralled with the story of the Avengers. And yeah, Diana Rigg playing Emma Peel. And wow. And I mean, she was amazing. I mean, She was right there, man. She was right there. She didn't take nothing from nobody. And I loved that. I thought that was so cool. And back here, you can't see it because it's way up on top of the shelf here, but we have the entire Emma Peel collection of the Avengers. I would bring that down, but if I did, everything would fall, and I'm not going to do that today because I don't want to clean everything up. But anyway I loved Emma Peel in The Avengers and she was an amazing actress as well But here she with Vincent Price so I get Diana Rigg and Vincent Price two of my favorites So I mean that a win right there Trying to be non-spoiler here with this one, though. Theater Blood is about Vincent Price. He's playing a Shakespearean actor who is basically being panned by all the critics. and he sets out to get revenge, shall we say, with Diana Rigg. I'm going to leave it at that because I don't want to go too far because if I do, then I'm going to spoil it and I don't want to do that. It is campy and so much fun. It really is. 1973, 104 minutes in 1080p. Wow. widescreen format great stuff just an amazing film if you are looking at the video you can see we're going to show you a couple stills from the back there it's pretty cool Vincent Price and Vincent Price and Diana Rigg which you would not believe that's Diana Rigg but it is but anyway but this release is unbelievable first off let's talk about what the bonus features are audio commentary not one, but two. One with screenwriter and producer Alan Spencer and one with film historians David Devella and Nick Redman and a special video feature with Alan Spencer. TV spots, radio spots, and theatrical trailer, all included in this. And again, we get a slipcover. So on this one, you see Vincent Price with a skull with a knife through it And red, bloody red curtains on the sides. Pretty, pretty cool. Love that. And all the critics down below, pretty awesome. Now, the interesting thing with this is what is included on the inside. With Tomb of Ligeia, it was the same artwork. You get the same artwork here as well, But also, you can flip the insert in this Blu-ray and get different artwork. And guess what we did? Yes, ma'am. We changed the artwork because it is just so cool. It is like a hand-drawn looking, you know, poster art. Very, very cool with Diana Rigg and Vincent Price. They're kind of like puppet masters. And you have all the critics below on strings. It is just amazing. That is so cool. Love that. I have to say, wow, this one looks amazing on Blu-ray. I've seen this before in different collections, and wow, this one looks amazing. It looks amazing on Blu-ray. All of these look absolutely amazing on Blu-ray. I'm a man. The map. Man. Okay, that's about all the time we got today. We got to get moving here. But we want to thank you for joining us today. Let us know what your favorite Vincent Price film is. Do you like Vincent Price in one of these? Maybe something else. Maybe you like his dramatic presentations. Maybe you like Vincent Price in The Muppet Show. Yeah, I know, The Muppet Show. Well, whatever. You know, whatever. Let us know what your favorite one is in the comments below. Be sure to like, share, and subscribe. and we would appreciate that.
