Greetings to Classic Cinema and TV fans, this is Jason Lockhart, Pastor Jay here with you once again bringing you another top 7 list. Today we're talking about the top 7 Steve Martin films and be sure to like, share and subscribe and let's jump into the list. normally we do not put remakes on this but this is just too good not to i love the pink panther the pink panther we know the story of the pink panther the pink panther uh comedy a classic little cartoon classic uh amazing um movie series with peter sellers but here this is with steve Martin. Why do we put Steve Martin's Pink Panther on the list? Because I think, wow, such big shoes to fill with Peter Sellers, but I think Steve Martin did a tremendous job with this. He really fits the bill as Inspector Clouseau. I love number one, and I love number two. I think they're just a lot of fun, and to me, that's what you want with a Steve Martin film. It's just a lot of fun. That's why we put the Pink Panthers at number seven on the list. Coming in at number six, The Man with Two Brains, a film that is a spoof of all those old 50s and 60s films about mad scientists. Here, Steve Martin plays a scientist who falls in love with a disembodied brain and wants to put that brain into the body of a female and has to try to find a way to do that. Well, I think we know what we're talking about. So, it's crazy. It's off the wall. There's a lot of stuff in it that's eh, but anyway, more or less, it's just a crazy, fun film. and yeah, it is well it crazy but it deserves number 6 on our list coming in at number five yeah My Blue Heaven in this collection A double feature of right here but this one is My Blue Heaven What an amazing, pretty cool little film. My Blue Heaven, Steve Martin plays a mobster who is going to come out and tell all, and he has to go into witness protection. and the guy that's going to put him in suburbia is Rick Moranis, the legend Rick Moranis. When you got Steve Martin and Rick Moranis together, you got a pretty amazing film. And yes, My Blue Heaven is pretty fun. It's just trying to see a mobster, trying to adapt to suburbia, crazy and so much fun. It really is a great, great little film and that's why it deserves number five on our list. Coming in at number four, The Jerk. Yeah, anytime you have a film that starts off with, I was born a poor black child by a white guy, you know you're in for something nuts. And yes, we are in for something nuts with this film. This is, and the thing is with this film is that this is actually a pretty good film. It's about a black family that takes in this white child And that is not the brightest bulb on the circuit But they love him, they raise him, they care for him And when he takes off to the city to try to find a way to make his fortune They support him, and wow, what a great film But then the stuff that goes on from there is crazy But it is a great, great little film It deserves a spot on the list. It's that awesome. Okay, this is a holiday classic. You know this has to be on the list. Planes, trains, and automobiles. Steve Martin and yes, John Candy join up together here to bring us an amazing adventure of two guys trying to get home for the holidays and wow just awesome stuff using planes trains and yes automobiles and even blowing up an automobile and destroying it in the process it's unbelievable but it's off the wall it's crazy it's funny it's uh it's a holiday staple it really is awesome and that's why we put planes trains and automobiles on the list The classic tale of Cyrano de Bergerac is unbelievable. Now, take that classic tale and throw Steve Martin in the mix, and you're in for something crazy. And, yes, we get it with Roxanne. Yeah, Steve Martin playing the idea of Cyrano with that big nose. Let's do it this way. There you can see it better. uh yeah Cyrano with that big nose and uh yeah uh just crazy now of course he doesn't play actually Cyrano here uh he plays CD okay we get it but anyway uh but he it's it's the story of Cyrano de Bergewak and uh and falling in love with the beautiful Roxanne and uh and all that goes into that and everything, trying to help the other guy woo Roxanne, but in comedic form, and it is spectacular. It is definitely a great, great film. I love it. I have to be honest with you. It's one of my favorites, and that's why we put Roxanne at number two on the list. Number one, Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid. Why did we put Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid as number one on the list? Well, first off, it's because it is special. It's a very special film. It was the final film of Edith Head, who was a costume designer. It was her final film. That is unbelievable. But the thing that makes this so amazing is Carl Reiner and Steve Martin worked together to bring this film And what they did is they took all the old films from the 40s and 50s those film wars with like Humphrey Bogart and Alan Ladd and Joan Crawford and Barbara Stanwyck and so many others and took those films and brought little clips from all these films and brought them together and put Steve Martin in, like interacting with these amazing actors. That is like amazing. And wow, it's seamless, it's amazing, it's beautifully shot, it's great, and the interaction seems like flawless. You wouldn't even know it if you didn't know it. It's that well done. The story of a private eye who is trying to help this beautiful young lady try to uncover why her father, she feels, was murdered. Just a great, great film. It's a film noir like none other, and this was my first time getting to watch it from King of Lorber Studio Classics, this release. And I have to say, this is unbelievable.
