Greetings Classic Cinema and TV fans, this is Jason Lagerpast Jay here with you once again. And this time around we're bringing you a comparison video because we have recently got to finally see the Justice League Zack Snyder Cut. Okay, so this is going to be an interesting video because what we're going to do is we're going to talk about the Justice League, the original, and the Justice League Zack Snyder Cut. Now, there's a very interesting thing here with this film because Zack Snyder was the original director of the Justice League. And issues came up, and we're not going to go into that, but issues came up and he had to go away from the film to... And so a lot was going on there that they wanted to... Warner Brothers wanted to get the film out. And he wasn't going to be there to do it, so it was like, okay, what do I do here? And And so they brought in Josh Whedon to finish up the film. And so there was a lot of reshooting and a lot of things to kind of make it more Josh Whedon's version of Justice League. And so thus we got this version. Very colorful, as you can see, very colorful, very bright and vibrant kind of take of the Justice League. And basically the Justice League is all the different characters of Aquaman, Flash, and Batman, and Cyborg, and Wonder Woman, and Superman, of course, coming together to fight Darkseid, and Steppenwolf, and all the evil that's coming through to try to take over the world and try to destroy the world as we know it. And that's kind of what we see. This film here the Josh Whedon version is two hours long okay So what happened with this film is while I like it it good When you watch the film, it kind of feels like there's a lot missing, right? It feels rushed. It feels like there's too much, that they're trying to push everything together. All these characters together at one time, and it feels kind of rushed. and thus I don't think it works as well. I've always felt that way. Ever since I first watched the film, I felt like it feels rushed. It feels like it's too rushed. It needed to take its time a little bit to try to understand the characters, who they were, what they are, why are they coming together, this whole thing, and kind of play it out. which Josh Wheaton's version didn't do. Now, whether that was his actual idea or whether that was Warner Brothers sitting here saying, hey, we don't want more than a two-hour film, I don't know. That I can't tell you, but I will tell you that's how I feel. I feel that Justice League, the Josh Wheaton version, is a good film, but it just feels rushed. It really does. So there came this groundswell for many, many years after the release of the Justice League, Josh Whedon's version, for the release of the Snyder Cut. That became a social media thing on Twitter. Hashtag release the Snyder Cut. And that became a thing. And people were talking about it over and over and over. And people were not just giving up. They wouldn't give up on it. They just kept doing it every time. And so eventually, Warner Brothers said, okay, fine, we'll let Snyder do his thing and let him have his film. And so Shaq Snyder came in and finished his version of the film. And it was released on HBO Max. And we don't do HBO Max, so, you know, we weren't going to watch it. And so then finally it got the release the home video release in this we ended up getting the Justice League the Zack Schneider cut And okay so this is the release that probably should have been released from the beginning As you can see here, there is a lot of difference right there. It is very dark. And I mean, and I'm not, this film runs about four hours in length, okay. So right away you can see you're getting a whole lot more film. Okay, the reason you're getting a whole lot more film is because Zack Schneider had an idea of bringing all these characters together. Okay, the difference is if you go to the Marvel Universe and you know what they did with the Avengers, they had all the different characters. They had Iron Man, they brought in Captain America, they brought in all the different characters and they built this team with individual movies. and then they eventually brought in the Avengers well that was cool but Warner Brothers didn't want to do individual movies and then build and bring them all together they didn't want to do that they just wanted a team up film so I think that's why Zack Snyder came up with the idea of making a four hour film to kind of bridge the gap between all these people giving them all a little bit of a back story so that you felt you understood them better not that we needed a whole movie although that would have been awesome to have everybody have their own movie. That's not what really had to happen. You just needed to have a little bit of a back story to kind of bridge the gap to give everybody a reason to come together. And that's what we see here with Zack Snyder's film. It bridges the gap. You understand, okay, why are the mother boxes, what are they, what is it about? And I love the fact that they bridge him, that cyborg, as sort of the bridge there in a little bit with the mother boxes. I think that's kind of cool. There's a lot going on, but I think Zack Snyder did a tremendous job in bridging everything and making it so much better. Like I said the Justice League film that we first got the theatrical release it too rushed you don invest in my opinion with the characters like you should where with Justice League, the Zack Snyder Cut, you really do. You begin to invest in these characters. You begin to feel emotion for them, especially for Cyborg more than anything, because of his horrible story of being destroyed and being rebuilt and and uh that that emotion of of not really having anyone and now uh he's part of a team and and there's there's a lot there i i love it i think it's really cool and and the cool thing is to see martian manhunter in in this film that is so awesome to see the the bridging of that that he's gonna maybe come in and all i mean that's That's awesome. Yeah, so while I'm not here to disparage Josh Whedon's version, I think it's a good film. I think it's entertaining. Yeah, I have to say that the Zack Snyder Cut is a much more superior film. It is very much more lengthy, but it bridges the gap much better, and I think it makes for a better film. So, yeah, that's our take on the Zack Snyder Cut. in comparison to the original theatrical release of Justice League. What do you think of the Justice League movie? Do you like the Zack Snyder cut better? Or maybe you're a fan of the Josh Whedon version. Let us know in the comments. We'd love to know your thoughts on this.
