Greetings Classic Cinema and yes comic book fans, this is Jason Lockhart with you once again here on a comic book roundup. We're back with you once again and on these comic book roundups we share with you some newer releases and sometimes we go back in time and check out some of our favorites from back in the day. And this time we're going back a little bit of time and checking out a release that we reviewed many, many years ago. But it is probably one of the ones that I absolutely adore. Probably because it has two of my favorite film series kind of put together and shook up and crossing over and all kinds of good stuff. We're talking from Boom Studios and IDW Comics. We're talking about this. Star Trek and Planet of the Apes. The crossover. This is the primate directive. Wow. You have got to be kidding me. Look at the artwork on that, is that not the most iconic thing you've ever seen in your, look at that, wow, oh, this is so cool, I love this comic book, this was, this is a comic book series that they ended up putting in a a trade back of course so you collect all of them in this one big book which I love I love the tradebacks because then you get all of them in one book and then you can just go right through them That's me. I love that. Very awesome. You get the original cast of the Star Trek series, and you get the original characters from the planet of the apes and they're all coming together. And yes, it is so cool. Let's just tell you what this says here and then you can get an idea of what it is. Investigating rumors of Klingon expansionism, Captain Kirk and the crew of the USS Enterprise discover a mysterious trans-dimensional portal being used by the Klingons. Following the Klingons through the portal, the Enterprise crew is surprised to find themselves orbiting a far future parallel Earth, one where the Federation apparently never existed. Upon beaming down to the planet, Kirk and Spock find a familiar face. A familiar face. Well, we're not going to tell you who that is, but anyway. Star Trek and the Planet of the Apes crossover, the primate directive. So very, very cool. This is just a great comic book series. I love this so much. Probably because, like I said, I kind of grew up on reruns of Star Trek from, I think it was sci-fi, when they were playing that for a little bit in the afternoons after school I come home and watch all the craziness going on from the Star Trek Enterprise and all their adventures And then I got into, one day, I think it was AMC was playing Planet of the Apes, the original Planet of the Apes. I fell in love with that film. That literally is probably one of my favorite science fiction films of all time. I don't know how many times I've watched that film. It has to be somewhere around in the 50s, at least in the 50s. I've watched that film so often. It's just insane. I love it. So when this happened, when this crossover happened, I was like, you have got to be kidding me. So, yeah, getting to see this all together, these characters all together in one place like that is just mind-blowing to me. I love it. I just, I absolutely love it. It is just special. The artwork is literally amazing. I'll give you a little look at it if you can see it there. Great artwork. And the story is so cool, too. The story just flows like a movie. It really is. When you're reading this, you almost feel like you're watching a cinematic experience. I mean, you're right there. It's transporting you right in there. It's amazing. I love this. Yeah, this is one of my favorites. I am so glad that I got to review this. If you would like to know the full written or read the full written review of this the Primate Directive be sure to go to Classic Cinema Plus our official website and check out the entire written review of this It is so amazing I love Star Trek. I love it when Star Trek meets Planet of the Apes. I love it when Star Trek meets many different – they've done – IDW have done this many times with Star Trek, crossing them over with different things, and it is so cool. But this one stands out to me as absolutely the best one I think they ever did. And that's why we just had to spotlight it again. Go back in time a little bit and say, hey, if you've never seen this, definitely check out the Primate Directive. It is probably the best one of the Star Trek crossovers, in my opinion. Love it so much.
