Transcript: Christian Movie Review: Girl on a Chain Gang Blu-ray

Greetings Classic Cinema and TV fans, this is Jason Lockhart, Pastor Jay here with you once again, bringing you another silver screen spotlight today here on this Classic Cinema Plus video feature. we're looking at a brand new release arrived just today at Classic Cinema Plus Studios and this one is one of those ones that are you kind of you never saw at least we have never saw it and we're looking kind of forward to check this one out this is Girl on a Chain Gang okay so I haven't seen all the classic films By no means, probably nobody has seen all the classic films that there are from the beginning of cinema clear up through. So you're going to miss some. And this one is one I actually have never seen. And when I read about it and heard that Film Detective is releasing this on Blu-ray, newly restored and all and looking good, I was like, yes, please, let's check this out. Now Girl on a Chain Gang is a really interesting film It tells the story of three young adults that are on a drive and they go through a small town And let's say the police are less than accommodating. yeah you know we've all heard the term speed trap and all and uh and and it's kind of uh they get pulled over and um and the the police are not the most uh accommodating they're they're they're a little little harsh and um things go awry really bad um and uh yeah this is uh this was a film that is considered an exploitation film. Exploitation films were films that were considered exploiting different, like females or African American people or stuff like that. They would have different exploitation type things. And that was what these stories were. They were considered exploitation. That's kind of what this is. Now, the interesting thing about this is I checked out the trailer I of course haven seen the film yet so that I looking forward to because I have yet to see it But I did check out the trailer and the trailer looks really really interesting It looks like a really interesting film Film Detective has released this on Blu and I think what really cool about it is when we opened it up and we took a look at it of what's inside. We'll talk about that in just a second. But we get the full 95-minute film on this Blu-ray. There's also a full audio commentary with author Jennifer Churchill. Now, I have checked out some of her audio commentaries before, and she does a very, very good job. So we'll be interested to kind of hear her audio commentary on that. There's also an essay entitled, The Girl on a Chain Gang, Race, Rednecks, and Civil Rights. There's also a little video feature, a short history of Jerry Gross, the producer. It's all in the title, Exploiting Jerry Gross. So very, very cool. Now, when we open up the case, there's some really cool little things in here. First off, you get the Blu-ray disc, okay? But the interesting thing is what's on the other side. there is something really cool if you can see that it is a certificate of jury service see that that just a little kind of a cool little bonus there it like a little I just think that pretty cool A certificate of jury service This is your invitation to sit on the jury as you watch Girl on a Chain Gang. I love that. I think that's a pretty cool little bonus. I like that. I thought that was pretty cool.
