We're in Psalms chapter 16. We're going through the Psalms. If you have your Bibles today, please turn with me to Psalms chapter 16. 16. I'm going to bring, get sort of situated here, sorry about this, and we'll get started. Let's begin in a word of prayer first, though. Dear Heavenly Father, we just thank you so much for our listeners, Lord. We ask you, Lord, to please bless our service today, Lord. Lord, if there's anyone out there that don't know you, we ask, Lord, if they would come to know you as their personal Savior, Lord. Also, Lord, if there's any of our listeners, Lord, that's hurting and going through stuff, Lord, we ask you, Lord, to please be with them, Lord, and help them, Lord, to get through their day. We ask you, Lord, just to please put me aside, Lord, and just please to just bless our service. In Christ's name we pray. Amen. So if you have your Bibles, please turn to, again, Psalms chapter 16, and we'll start with verse 1. It says, the earth, and to the excellent in whom is all my delight. Their sorrows shall be multiplied, that hastened after another god. Their drink-offering of blood will I not offer, nor take up their names into my lips. The Lord is the portion of my inheritance and of my cup. Thou mannest my lot. Thy lines are falling unto me in pleasant place. ye, I have a goodly inheritance. I will bless the Lord who hath given me counsel. My reins also instruct me in the night sessions. I have set the Lord always before me because he is at my right hand I shall not be moved Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoices. My flesh also shall rest in hope, for thou wilt not leave my soul in hell, neither wilt thou suffer thine holy one to see corruption. Thou wilt show me the path of life in thy presence in fullness of joy at thy right hand. There are the pleasures for evermore. You know, what a great psalm. You know, we can count. We can count and trust in God. He's right here, right beside us all the time. You know, David's like saying, I shall not be moved, for the Lord is with me. You know, it is so great, so great. So let's go in here and find this out, see what we can find out about our commentary today and sort of get enlightened a little bit more. So we're in 16.1. I'm going to go ahead and jump down to, yeah, 16.1. Let's see here. Come with the term, let's see. Back to mine, you see the title comes from a term that may mean to cover. It could mean a covering of the lips. A silent prayer or a prayer that someone might be covered with protection. Cover can also mean atone. For so, Menchum may describe a psalm or atonement. We're going ahead in Exodus 16.2. It says, My goodness extendeth not to thee. Could also be translated, apart from you, I have no good thing. Apart from him, there is no good thing, you know. So in Psalm 62 again, we say, David praises God and calls him his Lord. Can you make that affirmation today? A master or Lord is someone who has the rightful power and authority over someone else's life because God created you in a very real sense. you belong to him and all you have is his God created you out of love so you can put him first in all aspects of your life and give him your complete allegiance Do you understand God to be your Lord and master? If not, how might your life be radically different if you started to? You know, God made us. God formed us in our mother's womb. And God, when we got out, God was so amazing, sent his son and saved us. And we are his. We are his. And we should be so grateful and abiding in God. And every day, every day, we should be bowing and praying and thanking God for saving us. He made us and he saved us. Let's flip on over a little bit and get a little bit more into this. chapter 16 verses 7-8 it is a human nature to make our own plans and then ask God to bless them. Instead we should ask God God will first be constantly thinking about the Lord and the way he wants us to live. We will gain insights that will help us make good decisions and live the way God desires communication with God allows him to counsel us and to give us wisdom. You know, that's so true. You know, we have this human nature where we think, you know, we own ourselves. You know, that's not true. God owns us. and lots of times we just make our own decisions and we don't even consult our prayer. They go to Jesus and God and ask them, oh Lord, please just give me wisdom on how my day should be. What should I do? How to do this? We don't go to prayer. We just go ahead and go right into our daily routine and we don't ask God to bless our day. We don't, you know, even times, you know, when we eat, we don't even ask him to bless our meals either. And, you know, we are so human, you know, and that nature just takes over. And we shouldn't. We should bow before and pray each day before our meals, before we get started. We should read and pray before we start our day. so that we are in line with what God wants us to do first And then we here in 16 8 through 11 it says the psalm is often called the Messianic Psalms because it is quoted in the New Testament and is referring to the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Both Peter and Paul quoted from the Psalms when speaking of Christ's body resurrection. You can see this in Acts chapter 2 through 25 through 28. But then we're going to go down here to actually again chapter 16 verse 8. And it says, By saying that he shall not be moved, David was talking about the unique sense of security he felt by him. and other believers. God does not attempt believers from the day-to-day circumstances of life. Believers and unbelievers alike experience pain, trouble, and failure at times. Matthew 5, verse 45. Unbelievers have the sense of hopelessness about life and confusion about their true purpose on earth. Those who seek God, however, can move ahead confidently with what they know is right and important in God's eyes. They know that God will keep them from being moved off his chosen path. So, there you go, is that we go through the same stuff that unbelievers go through. but we know that God will keep us and keep us moving as long as we are communicating and loving God and asking God to get us through the trials get us through the troubled times and to move forward by faith by faith hey listen in prayer I thank you so much for joining me today so let's end dear heavenly father thank you so much lord for your word thank you for your psalms lord thank you for your wisdom you give us lord help us to uh seek you daily and and ask lord to guide us and help us lord to be humble people and be loving people and be kind people and thank you lord for again for your psalms i hope this message lord Lord, Lord, please let it be a blessing to someone today.
