Transcript: Finding Safety in Faith: Psalm 4 Devotional

Hello there, good morning and good evening and a warm welcome to one and all of you. I greeting you in the name of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. So my dear brothers and sisters, it's been a beautiful journey so far. We had been doing so many sessions and thank you for your prayers and without your support there is no way that I will be able to move ahead. It is because of your prayers, it is because of your care and concern that you had thought about me every single day and I want to thank God for his grace. All glory to the name of Jesus. Alright, a warm welcome to this short session where we are dealing through various subjects in a shorter format because the calling for my ministry is to teach Bible in a very detailed manner and this is something that is lacking in Christendom and that's a reason God enables a person like me to preach and teach and I'm trying my best to do things for the Lord and for his people and so far so good there are lots of sessions available tens and hundreds and thousands of sessions available you can please go through all of those and you will grow in your spirit today we are going to talk about a very very important subject safety we are going to go through Psalms 4 right we have as part of the short sessions what we are also planning is we want to touch on all the important Psalms all Psalms are important but some of the Psalms which are very important we definitely don't want to miss it we want to take you through and we did that study last time for from Psalms 1 right similarly we want to do all this meditations as far as possible so we will see what best to do so today we are going to talk from Psalms 4 and Psalms 4 is nothing but talking about the safety of the faithful. Two different aspects here. One is the safety and the other thing is faithful. And now who are to be called as faithful? Except God actually to be very honest. No one is faithful. Why? Because when you are not faithful, God will remain faithful to you is what is written in one of the epistles in New Covenant. Right? Now what is this faithfulness? Faithfulness is all about. Regardless of however the way you treat me. Regardless of however the way you insult me. Regardless of however the way you think about me. Whether I am good for nothing, whether I am useless and you know, useless piece of thing, whatever. I will continue to remain good to you. I will continue to love you. I will continue to have compassion. I will continue to have mercies. I will continue to favour you. I will continue to bless you. I will continue to prosper you. I'll continue to guide you. I'll continue to protect you. Right? And that to a person like God the Father, the creator of heaven and earth, and the master of universe, the God of universe, when he looks down, there is a small speck in the universe that is earth. In that speck, we will see that earth is three-fourths filled with water. One-fourth is only land. And in that one-fourth land, there is another speck called us that is you and me. Right? And he is looking at that speck, that is you and me, and he makes all this covenant. that whatever, however the way the people may treat me, yet I will remain faithful to them. Right? This is the attitude of God. Now tell me, let me revisit the old question, right? Now tell me who all can say that I am also faithful like God. No human being can say that they are faithful like God. We all try to be faithful, but then what happens is we slip down, right? We fall down in the midst of situations, in the midst of trials, in the midst of circumstances that are against us, in the midst of challenging moments, in the midst of so many things, right, that we go through, we definitely fall down. But we rise up. We overcome in the name of Jesus and through his powers, resurrection power, we overcome in the name of Jesus. By his blood we are cleansed. Our sins are forgiven. But who is consistent? Who will never fall down? Who had never fallen down at all? That is God the Father. And that is why when we trust in his faithfulness, we are naturally called as faithful. Remember this. Not by your deeds, you will be able to prove your faithfulness. No. But by the mere grace of Jesus and the trust and the confidence that you have in your father, that whatever may be the situation, I will continue to trust in him that alone can make you faithful. That's the whole point we are trying to make here. You all understand what I'm saying? Right? So, when you are faithful, when you fall into this faithful category out of grace, right, you get this as a free gift, grace. Then what happens is, God the Father says, my safety is ensured. Then comes the second concept of something called a safety. Now, to keep things safely, right, we have lockers. We all have bank lockers, right, some of you may not have. Some of you want to take bank lockers, but they ask a hefty deposit, correct, no? And what happens is they have a vault and they protect it for you and all that you keep in the locker is safe and protected. But even such vaults are being robbed by the robbers. We all keep hearing that in the news. But then not all banks are being robbed. There are banks who have that wonderful security protocol. They are very strong and you know you have that locker key. One key you will be putting another key that guy will be putting. when you open it at the same time the locker opens up and then you can put in everything that you want and you can lock it and come home it will be there only you have to pay the rental for the locker that's it no one can touch it many people think this is materialistic safety but many people think that materialistic safety is good enough and some rich people they hire guards bodyguards wherever they go bodyguards will follow two cars in the front it's like a Convoy two cars in the front two cars in the back and all that they go as a convoy thinking nothing can happen and all that There was a prime minister I need to tell his name no problem because it is a true incident His name is Premadasa Sri Lankan prime minister Long ago, when I was a kid, he got killed. He got killed by the Sri Lankan Tamils, right? There is a lot of war happening between the Tamils and their leader Prabhakaran and the Sri Lankan government and it came to an end sometime some few years ago right now until then what happened is there was a convoy going on lot of cars before premedasa's car and after premedasa's car and the honorable prime minister premedasa when he was traveling exactly they fired that bomb that explosion against that car he died on the spot yeah what i am trying to say here is that is the condition and not only that example prime minister president kennedy he was shot right in his head in his temple right all security was given all security protocol check was conducted this and that he got killed our honorable ex-prime minister rajiv gandhi he was assassinated and what a security what a family he was from neeruji's family and uh needless to talk about the security but he was killed, assassinated. Right? I am telling you brother, my sister, when great people, when great people, the rich people, the powerful people, their security cannot protect and they fail, don't you think so? You and I can go through any disaster, any point of time. We are common people. It's correct. No, we don't. I did not, I was not born in a royal family. I was not born rich. God made me prosperous. God blessed me in all that I did slowly step by step and he enabled me to be a blessing to others. One of the things that I do is the preaching and teaching and many other things God enabled me to do. I don't want to talk about all that. That's between me and God, right? But still my security is not in my bank balance, is not in my job, not in my skill, not in my talent, not in my proactiveness because I look good and smart and all that. It is not, I'm not saying I'm looking good and smart, but some of you may think you know skin color very fair and tall handsome strong bodybuilders full of muscles wherever I go and when people come no one punch I will kill them and all that if we brings ten guys like you what will be our situation right anything is possible when we go through this practical situations circumstances in life obviously at some point of time every human being will tend to think whether they accept or not it's a different thing every human being will definitely accept and they will think at least to themselves hey I somehow feel insecure and what happens is when the insecurity capitalizes they lose hope they become hopeless and they feel they are rejected they feel they are in dejection and certainly they get into depression and depression they get into all sorts of madness and all that they need psychiatric treatment they get into fear worry and this and that but what was the root cause the root cause Fear did not come all by itself. Worry is not an element that can directly enter. No. Worry and fear, they are given birth. And who is giving birth? Insecurity. That's why we have picked this topic. Let us read from the Bible. Your security comes from the faithful God. Your security comes when you are faithful in God. And how can you become faithful in God is what we explained. Not by your deeds. Not by your righteousness. Nobody is righteous. Nobody can call that I am holy. There is no blemish in me. No one can say that. He is a liar. Bible says in 1 John chapter 1 verses 7 to 10. Right? So, now, I hope so far you are with me. Right? We are talking about safety. But safety is guaranteed to, you know, the safety of the faithful. And who are the faithful? We already discussed a little bit about that. Now, let us talk from the Bible. Now, let us read the Bible and let us conclude. Okay? Psalms 4 verse 1. Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness. You have relieved me when I was in distress. Have mercy on me and hear my prayer. Hear me, O God, when I call you. Who can say this confidently? A person who doesn't have or who doesn't have the feeling that he is a sinner. Now what can cleanse you? What can drag you out of sinful deeds? You and I are blessed because we are new covenant people. The blood of Jesus guarantees remission of sins. The blood of Jesus guarantees forgiveness of sins. Forgiveness comes from the heaven. Father in heaven says that I will remember your sins no more. Why? Because you have confessed the name of Jesus. You have accepted him as your Lord of lords and King of kings. And through his blood you believed that there is remission of sins. Because he shed his precious blood and purchased you and me for a price. Therefore, we belong to him. When we call unto him, Abba, Father listens. In the name of Jesus, you ask anything, it will be given unto you. Acts 2.38, John 14.14, right? Refer these verses later and you read. So, when you call with that confidence, O God of my righteousness, who made you righteous? 1 John 1.7-10, right? The blood of Jesus, when you confess, will cleanse you and make you righteous. Therefore, you are righteous. Therefore, you can call that your deeds or acts of righteousness. and you have the confidence and you have relieved me when I was in distress. Only when you go through this cleansing process. See, I am comparing old covenant with new covenant. You all need to understand both. Correct, no? And I was in distress. Have mercy on me and hear my prayer. See, I will tell you what. When you get into your prayer room, you check your confidence. Some prayers, sometimes, some days when I pray, my prayers will be like a dead rubber. I myself realize it And I hate such prayer I be so angry on me And I know the truth Why my prayer is like dead rubber And I know the truth because there is some sin in me I was angry on someone. I couldn't forgive somebody. I spoke some malicious. I had some malicious thoughts. I spoke in a disruptive language. Which was not approved by God. In inappropriate language. I heard somebody's feelings. All the truth you know. right and you have not confessed of those sins you have not reconciled with god through repentance and you have not let go some of the burdens that is bothering you some garbage is sitting in you some luggage is on your shoulders and then you are calling god help me my situation is so bad i'm in distress hear me it'll be like a dead river but then when you reconcile with god your tone changes your language changes your confidence you know it shoots up and the way how you talk to your father the mannerism also changes. Kids know when they have done some mistake, you can clearly make out their body language and their eyes with their cute expressions. You definitely know they are hiding something. Correct? As parents, all of us know this. But when the same kid, you have misunderstood saying that, you know, you only did it. I didn't do it, Papa. You can see it in their eyes. The truth is in their eyes. You know, eyes is like a communication, right? What I say, the The nature of the heart can be seen. The index of the face is the nature of the heart. Face means it's not revealed in nose or mouth. It's in eyes. Eyes can communicate. There are, you know, people get into acting, right? Everything is in their eyes only. Eyes can reveal anger. Eyes can reveal kindness. Eyes can reveal, you know, laughter. Eyes can reveal joy, peace, everything. All the fruit of the spirit can be revealed in eyes. Correct? No, we're not talking about eyes. I have a series about eyes. Watch out. I'm going to release it soon. Sorry, we are going to kick off soon. Have mercy on me and hear my prayer. How long, O you sons of men, will you turn my glory to shame? How long will you love, worthlessness, and seek falsehood? Now, this is the voice of the Father. When you make prayer to God, the second principle is, God will also talk to you. How many of you can hear the voice of God? Not in your ears. Don't tune your ears. Nothing I am hearing. God will talk in your heart. He is inside you. Holy Spirit. Tune your ears of your heart. And God is going to definitely talk to you. You will be able to hear it. I have gone through these wonderful experiences. All of us can go through. Not just me. Not just Paul the Pozzu. All of us go through it. Right? Now, God is responding back. See, he is not responding to the prayer. But he is responding in a different way. you sons of men will you turn my glory to shame how long will you love worthlessness many of us love worthless things including your gold silver cars bungalows properties i'll tell you my brother sister many people died unexpectedly due to covid they didn't know that this year was the last year they didn't know that this was this week was the last week they didn't know the yesterday was the last day many people died yesterday also more than 600 people died due to COVID. Did they think day before yesterday that they will be dead and gone? Were they able to carry any of these worthless things? That includes the anger, unforgiving spirit. This fellow is my enemy. He will remain as my enemy until my lost breath. You will go to hell. That's what Bible says. I am not saying. You are not able to forgive one person. Right? I forgive 99 people. 100 people were my enemies. That one person brother, I cannot forgive. You will go to hell. That's Bible. Sorry. Your enemy list should always be zero. Because that is not the spirit of God. That is the spirit of the devil. Revenging, avenging, murdering, destroying. The spirit is not of God. It is not approved by God. This is called as worthlessness. You have so much in you and you go and say, Oh Father, hear me. Merciful Father. God knows he is merciful. You don't have to introduce him with a title. You understand what I am saying. You see how God is responding to your prayer. brothers, sisters, always tune your ears to the voice of God. You will hear so many things or so much of truth will be revealed and cleanse yourself. Therefore, the answer of God, the answer for your petition will reach you. Until then, it won't reach. Verse number 3. But know that the Lord has set apart for himself him who is godly. the Lord will hear when I call to him you understood the difference right those that are not paying attention to such worthless things those that are not carrying such garbage in their heart and on their shoulders right unforgiving and all that being unkind being miserly no empathizing only sympathizing oh what to do brother no nothing you know their fingers will never get inside their pocket I want to give but I don't have you will have don't lie worthlessness and your prayers will never be answered you will never feel secured in your life you will somehow feel insecure I am praying brother but you know I am not having the confidence at all why? because there is some worthlessness in your heart be angry and do not sin meditate within your heart on your bed and be still I want to spend some time here actually my time is running like anything be angry do not sin my third principle is when you hear some news like a little kid was raped, politician looted money and that rich fellow is actually cheating and controlling the government. All these things we see, right? What is this? This is unrighteous, act of unrighteousness, demonic things that are happening around you. You ignore, you say that, you know, it's a will of God, God is only running the government on his shoulders the government is running God is aware why I should get angry You should be angry Whenever there is an unrighteous thing happening on this earth you be angry but you do not sin You don't have to release some videos against a politician and you don't have to go and file a police complaint against a troubousheater. Why? You will get killed. Go and file that petition to the Father in heaven. Abba, Father, this is not right. And I oppose this. I understand the government is running on your shoulder. But I know that you are righteous and holy. You will never approve such a thing. and God is going to listen to you. And that is called as be angry and do not sin. Similarly, when some people hurt you, don't immediately get into fight. Right? You need to let go. You cannot be angry against anyone. Jesus said, you want to talk anything against me, no problem. You will not be condemned. But if you speak anything against the Holy Spirit, you will be condemned. That much only Jesus said. Similarly, when somebody is going to come and fight against you, you take it very personal and you avenge them, revenge them and all that. that is a sin, right? And you should not be angry. You are not allowed to be angry. Why? Although he is, I am a man of God, he spoke against me. What man of God? All of us are equal before God and before his throne of grace, no one is to be called as righteous. All are sinners, all of us have fallen short of glory, regardless of religion, language, gender, anything, skin color, doesn't matter. You cannot be angry. See, where you do, where you got to be angry and do not sin is another thing definitely you can't you know take a sword and chop off somebody's head right although you know that that guy is unrighteous he deserved to die that's between him and god let god judge him and avenge him right you stay out of it that is called as do not sin but there are areas where you cannot be angry and you see what is next step meditate within within your heart on your bed and be still of course you are hurt and you want to talk to god this person you know hurt me say that silently on your bed, right? And then you leave it to God and stay still. Still means what? Just stay still. No reaction. Next time let them hurt, let them hurt. Next time they want to talk anything, you know, they want to slander your sledge, you let them continue to do it. Be still in the Lord. Wait in the Lord. That's what it means. Now we understand when you follow all this, only your safety will be your portion. I mean the safety of God will be your portion. I just, I initially itself i proved safety coming from your bodyguard and all that is useless and that's why i gave you a few examples uh you know from the practical illustration i'm just seeing yeah few three more verses we will read and close okay offer the sacrifices of righteousness and put your trust in the lord sacrifices means what you don't have to cut your flesh and you know show that blood one little blood you take nothing like that sacrifice means what you know you want to speak something against that brother when they sin against you because you are very angry. You control this mouthpiece. No, that's great. That's called a sacrifice. You want to slap somebody and they deserve for a slap, but then you are controlling and letting go. See, don't have that grudge in the heart. I want to slap, but I couldn't slap. No, no, no. It's not that way. I want to slap, but I don't want to slap. Yes, because I have forgiven them in the name of Jesus. As much as God forgive me. I forgive them. That is exactly the attitude what, you know, it's called as righteousness. You understand? I'm trying my best. It's a short session. If I were to speak or preach, you know, it will take me for 20 hours. So much is there in this, right? Offer the sacrifices of righteousness and put your trust in the Lord. If you want to lust, you will control your eyes. Controlling your eyes means controlling your heart, like how Jesus controlled. Because Father in heaven is watching me. Holy Spirit inside me is also watching. The same thing you are watching and he cannot tolerate that. You are watching pornography. He cannot live inside you. He will run away. The evil spirit will come and possess you. You need to get into all this. Then safety. Where is the safety? Evil spirit will come to destroy you brother. How much ever you call the name of Jesus you would never want to change your attitude, your habitual practices. Then why do you blame God? You cannot blame God. There are many who say who will show us any good Lord, lift up the light of your countenance upon us. You don't have to go and beg human beings for safety. You don't have to search safety from any other source. The only source of safety is God the Father. You have put goodness, sorry, you have put gladness in my heart. More than in the season that I had grain and the wine increased, I will both lie down in peace and sleep. for you alone, O Lord, make me dwell to safety. That is the conclusion. Unless God is on your side, there is no safety. Unless you have realized that the safety is in you from God, you won't be able to sleep properly. That's literal tense, you know. Many of us lie on the bed. Many nights I was not able to sleep, not because of my sinful deeds. Of course, sometimes I sinned and I had to confess and I have to repent and all that. But many times, something will bother me God will tell me like you know you got to pray for the world and I will end up praying for the world the whole night right that is different but then if you are not able to sleep because of some personal botherations that is inside you the safety of the Lord is not in you you got to rectify something you got to correct something right therefore beloved your safety unless it is from the Lord that is definitely not called a safety you will continue to live in insecurity If we want to possess the security and safety from God, we have taught you all the principles. So please follow those principles, obtain the safety from God and please remain safe. God bless you. Take care.
