Greetings, Classic Cinema TV fans. This is Pastor Jay, Jason Lockhart, here with you once again bringing you another silver screen spotlight. And today we are spotlighting one of the greatest presidents of all time. We're talking about number 16. We're talking about Abe Lincoln. We're talking about a brand new release from the good folks at Warner Archive. We are talking about Abe Lincoln in Illinois. I love that. From the amazing play by Robert E. Sherwood, We're talking about this release, the film Abe Lincoln in Illinois, starring Raymond Massey. Now, Raymond Massey not only did the stage production, but he did the feature film, and he did the radio production as well. And guess what we get on this brand new release? We get the original film starring Raymond Massey and also as a special bonus feature we get the Lux Theater radio production from April 22 1940 That is pretty impressive Now, interestingly enough, this play by Robert E. Sherwood is a play that details the early years of Abe Lincoln in his home in Illinois. Now, and here we see Abe Lincoln in his frailties, in his humanity, how life early shaped him to become the greatest president of all time and the great emancipator as well. And wow, what an amazing film. Now, I will say that Raymond Massey looks really, really much like Abe Lincoln, in my opinion. I'm really impressed with the looks of Raymond Massey as Abe Lincoln. You've got the real tall, slender body. And even in the face, his facial features, it kind of looks a little bit like Abe Lincoln. Now, I'm not saying identical, but you can kind of see a little bit of Abe Lincoln there, which is really, really good. Now, it's pretty cool. Included in this amazing cast we get some amazing actors and actresses We get Gene Lockhart love Gene Lockhart We get Ruth Gordon Mary Howard Dorothy Tree Harvey Stevens Meyer Watson and Alan Baxter all in this amazing human drama about the great Abraham Lincoln. I love this. This is so cool. Now, interestingly enough, the bonus feature of the Lux Radio Theater broadcast is produced. Now, hold on to something. This is pretty amazing. The Lux Radio Theater broadcast is produced by the great Cecil B. DeMille. Now, you want star value. You want name value. You can't get much more name value than that. We're talking about the man that brought us epics like The Greatest Show on Earth and The Ten Commandments. We're talking about Cecil B. DeMille. Yes, we're talking about the great Cecil B. DeMille, an amazing producer, an amazing director, and he produced this radio play. That is pretty, pretty awesome. them so yeah this is a pretty pretty cool little release and I'm I'm looking forward to jumping into this we have took a little check of it and it looks just like they used to say in glorious black and white It looks pretty pretty impressive from what we have seen but we are going to jump into it and give it a watch and then we're going to give it a full written review.
