Greetings, Classic Cinema TV fans and comic book fans. We are back. Pastor Jay, back with you once again, bringing you another comic book roundup. And we've been going through our comics, our big comic collection, and kind of remembering a lot of the classics and a lot of the really cool stuff. and we wanted to bring something out that was really, really cool. So we broke these out of the archives just to share them with you. These we got at Ollie's. Now, Ollie's you may not. Some of you may know Ollie's discount store. Some of you may not. It depends on your area, of course. But Ollie's is a discount store that you can get clothes and books and movies and just tons of stuff, all kinds of stuff, furniture and whatever. And it's just a big discount store, right? And it's a very, very good discount store because you can get stuff for like really, really, really low prices. Their motto is good stuff cheap, and it really is. A few years ago, we picked up something when we went to Ollie's and we saw these. It was like, what? You've got to be kidding me. and they are massive, and so we're going to try to hold these up, but these things are massive, and they're humongous, and they are loaded with awesome stuff, and we're talking about Superman and Batman, the war years. Look at these. Now, just to give you an idea, look at the massiveness and just the amount of pages that are included in these books. I mean, these are massive monsters. I mean, look at how much material was in this. I mean, this is amazing stuff, right? So we got these for, and I'm trying to remember the exact price. I think I paid about $5 for each of these, if I'm not mistaken. I think I remember paying about $5 for each. It might have been or but it been a long time ago Anyway so but it was no more than Now that I I know for sure Uh but I thinking it was more like five but anyway So um but these are the classic war years of the comics of Superman and Batman. Um, this is pretty awesome. Uh, you're talking the war years 1938 to 1945. These are the classic comics from these years of Superman. You're talking amazing stuff. I mean, look at the classic artwork here in this. I mean, this is classic comic artwork. I mean, look at how beautiful that is. That's just great stuff. And you're talking, I mean, amazing, amazing stuff. Look at the soldiers in this picture here. Look at that. That's pretty awesome. Look at that. That is so cool. Love that. That is pretty awesome stuff. These deal with, of course, the war effort, the war years where soldiers were putting their lives on the line. And you had Superman, not trying to win the war, but just trying to be part of the war effort, and I always thought that was pretty cool. Very, very awesome. Very, very cool. Love this. Now, this is a hard back book, okay, collection, if you will, to take the cover thing off, and it's the same thing, Okay. But it is, it's hardback. Okay. Which that's awesome. Love hardbacks. Uh, they're, they're made more sturdy. Okay. Uh, because, um, one of my, uh, graphic novels is not hard, uh, back. Okay. And I was reading it the other day and the whole thing went and came apart. And I was like, you know, it's so if they're not hardback, they tend to come apart easily. And so that's that's a bit of a downer. But this is a massive and amazing. The son of Krypton, the last son of Krypton in the war effort. Superman, the war years. Love that 1938 to 45 Love that Love that Love that Love that Now in addition to Superman the war years we got also Batman the war years Okay I love this This is so cool So this, of course, deals with Batman, Bruce Wayne. We all know Batman, let's be honest here. But again, here is Batman joining the war effort in the late 30s into the 40s. Pretty awesome. And you've got iconic characters in here, and I opened right to one right away. Look at there. There you go. Joker right on the first page I open up. How about that? That's, I think, the thing that I love about this Superman and Batman collections is with these collections here, they always give you the artwork, too. I mean, not just the story, but they actually give you the actual front artwork that was in the comic book that you were buying. That is, well, that's part of the thing. You have to have that. And I love that. I love that. The artwork is just spectacular here. Look at that. That is so cool. Seeing Joker there. I love that. Joker playing the fiddle, almost like he's Nero while fiddling while Rome burned. There's a lot of the puppetry in this collection, as you can see. It's interesting. I love it, though. You're talking two of the most iconic superheroes in comic book history. Yes, you got your Captain Americas, your Iron Man. You've got all these different characters that have come to the forefront because of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and how they become icons. But you really want icons. You want the icons of comic book history. You have Batman and you have Superman. Those two pretty much everybody knows them Okay nobody doesn know Superman and Batman Everybody knows them Now maybe not everybody knows Iron Man Maybe not everybody knows the story of Iron Man. Maybe not everybody understands the story of Captain America or some of the lesser known Marvel characters like Doctor Strange or certain ones like that, but there are just some that are so iconic that you know, you know beyond a shadow of a doubt, and two of them are Batman and Superman. And so, yeah, these were just a couple. I wanted to break out and just say, hey, you know, if you can ever find these, like I found these for very, very cheap, and you may not, I lucked out big time to get these for the price I got them. But if you can get them cheap, I'm telling you, there is a ton of entertainment in comics in these two releases, Batman The Warriors and Superman The Warriors. Definitely worth checking out. Definitely worth adding to your collection. And just don't get a hernia trying to lift them. they are they are massive and they are awesome so uh yeah definitely check them out if you can find them they are so cool all right well we want to thank you for joining us today on this uh comic book roundup as we look back at two iconic characters in two massive sets of comics the war years of batman and superman uh be sure to like share and subscribe we would appreciate it Be sure to go to Classic Cinema Plus and check out our reviews of comics and DVDs and Blu-rays and articles and all the good stuff we got going up there all the time.
