Transcript: Praying Confidently for Deliverance with Psalm 17

Hello, my dear brothers and sisters. A warm welcome to one and all of you and I greet you in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. As always, I feel very privileged and happy to be part of these sessions and I want to thank God who takes complete control over these sessions and this time that we dedicate in His precious hands. God is definitely the one who is meeting our needs who is basically enquiring all that is needed for us what is needed is from our side that time, that effort, that dedication when we meditate from the word of God always imagine this God is personally coming down and sitting next to you because you are giving importance to this word and Bible says those that shall honour my word, I will honour them Bible says in 1 Samuel chapter 2 verse 30 those who shall honor me which means what? whatever God had basically spoken to us and whatever God had basically commanded us to do the laws and commandments or the instructions or anything that you talk when you honor that God is going to honor you and how does he honor? he won't sit one lakh miles away from us no he'll personally come down to visit us And the father has done that many times. Then he was able to hear the uproar in Sodom and Gomorrah. He personally sent his angels to look down and then he came and he had executed the judgment. Similarly, when he is able to hear that outcry, when he is able to see the dedication, that sincerity in you, he is not going to sit idle. He is definitely going to make efforts to come down and meet with us. A warm welcome to this short series where, not series I would say short sessions, where we pick certain topics and we meditate. You will get lot of video notifications. Now we are in the process of discussing Psalms in a very systematic way. Psalms, there are 150 books written by some of them like David and Asaphs and sons of Korah. Moses also written something. So we are hand picking as we are being led by the spirit. And we were able to cover a lot of Psalms. Psalms 1 we discussed, Psalm 5, Psalm 6 we did. Psalm 7 also we did. And today we are going to discuss on Psalm 17. We are trying to get the background and we are doing little research. Therefore, we could present it to you, help you understand. And I want every one of us to know that none of the Psalms are like poetic books. You know, he did not sit down and start writing poetries. Not like that. Psalms is nothing but the personal experience, the personal encounter with the mankind. The personal encounter with God. The personal encounter with the demonic forces, spiritual warfares and stuff like that. And how did David handle it? Right? how did he basically fight against those situations as a warrior, both spiritually and physically. There were a lot of wars. He was a man of war. And how did he overcome? So the best part about David was he was an overcomer. Although he was an old covenant person, he had no idea about Jesus and the new covenant standards. The person was well versed with that, not with the wisdom and knowledge or intellectuals. He went to some university and got graduated, nothing like that. But he understood God, who he is, how mighty he is, how greater he is. And there isn't a thing that God cannot handle. There isn't a thing that is on earth that God cannot resolve. And that is what actually built his confidence. And that is why he inculcates that habit to rush towards his presence. This is the very reason why we want to spend a lot of time in meditating from the book of Psalms. Psalm 17, it's a very good book or a very good chapter. We all have to discuss this together. Now, Prayer with Confidence in Final Salvation is the title what the KJV version is talking about. In other words, while I was researching, checking the background, God himself sometimes creates that puzzle in our heart. Sometimes you will have sleepless nights. You don't even know why am I having the sleepless night. immediately people will connect it with the spiritual warfare some demons are troubling me, I am not able to sleep God is actually troubling you some nights, you know he doesn't allow you to sleep why? because he wants you to reason on your spiritual status he wants you to introspect your insight, the spiritual insight he wants you to get he wants you to introspect on your mental stature, on the thought process that is when the renewal of mind and transformation of spirit happens. Bible says in Romans 12, 1 and 2. So, never immediately connect everything with, oh, these are demons, you know, I am getting, I am having sleepless nights and all that. No, not necessarily. God also can instill the sleepless night as to how he created that sleeplessness in the king that he was able to go to the library and start looking at the old books and all that and all that has been witnessed. And Mordecai got his honor. So, never ever map everything. If you are a man of God, if you are a woman of God, if you are walking by the Spirit, of course you will go through a lot of demonic battles too. But not everything can be related. One such incident is God is trying to bring that reasoning in the heart of David and help him to authenticate. Yes, sometimes self-authentication is needed. You go to evaluate and self whether you are really good by all means and by all standards to stand before God and approve to yourself that all that I want to say is God I am clean But you can judge and tell me if I am unclean. I am just honestly trying to tell you a few things, right? If you are a child of God, if you are a servant of God, you will always have this attitude of getting into thorough introspection on a daily basis. In fact, every situation, every moment that you go through in your life, you will always end up in self-introspection. Whether am I doing the right things? Whether God is pleased with my decision, with my judgment? Similarly, one thing, God is puzzling David. Whether you are all good about your holy deeds? You have gone into the path of salvation? Is it sufficient on all that you are doing? you are praying seven times a day and you are writing a lot of poetries like this, personal experiences, you have a lot of confidence in me. Is this good enough? And to find the answer for that question, David ends up with a meditation from his heart and he writes it down here. And naturally, such meditations from heart, trying to reason about your holy deeds and righteousness, will lead you towards the path of salvation. This is the principle even for the New Covenant people. This is no different. right many people may think this is the old covenant standard and all that nothing like that you can derive lot of principles from the old covenant and you can inherit those old covenant principles and you can take it towards the next level of this new covenant laws and commandments that are being written so let's talk about this now what is the sum here at just cause o lord attend to my cry. Give ear to my prayer that is not from deceitful lips. Now what is David trying to say here is, I know that I am not deceitful. I am not a wicked person. But then I have something inside me that is troubling. I have something crying aloud within me. And I really do not know the reason why this is happening. Why such a situation I am in. And how can I find a solution. actually I don't even know what is the problem sometimes you don't know what is the problem or where is the problem, where is the source of the problem where in the world you will invent a solution, you are not able to correct no, I have ended up that situation many times, now let my vindication come from your presence, let your eyes look on the things that are upright now God come please you interfere, see this is the best means of prayer you know, you are inviting God to any situation that you are going through where it looks like a puzzle. It looks like a riddle with no solution. People who are in mathematics, they definitely know how to solve the theorems because that is something which had been solved by some experts like, who are those guys? Albert Einstein and other guys who have written down, this is the law, Newton. All these guys have written a lot of things, law of gravitation and all that. Now you have a solution. All that you need to learn is how they resolved. it but you end up in a new puzzle which no one had gone through or maybe you didn't have an experience talking to anybody who had gone through a similar situation how do you resolve it you need god right god you welcome please help me to find a solution this is the best means of growing in spiritual deeds along with god and you have tested my heart you have visited me in the night you have tried me and have found nothing and I purpose that my mouth shall not transgress in the night that's why he was setting the context when I checked the background this guy was not able to sleep and he is very confident that as I was not sleeping I knew for sure your presence is with me and you have reasoned you have helped me to reason many things in fact you have built a new checklist for me and you have started to tick one after the other and you have found me, I am not guilty of anything, God. Yet, I am not at peace, I am not at rest. You and I will go through situations like this. Just rewind and see. You might have forgotten, but then you would have definitely gone through a similar situation. Concerning the works of men, by the word of your lips, I have kept myself from the paths of the destroyer. Which means this was one of the checklist. Now, God really wants David to check whether you have done anything wrong, anything illful, anything wicked against the mankind. And I did check in your presence and you know I checked. While I was checking you were with me that I did not do anything deceitful. I was not a destroyer. I was not wicked. I did not join hands with the demonic forces because the other name for devil is destroyer, murderer. I did not do that. And you know the truth. I have nothing to hide from you, Father. wonderful prayer right all of us learn to pray this is the pattern what we all have to learn and we have to learn and extract such principles of prayer when you get into that fellowship with the father in heaven uphold my steps in your paths that my footsteps may not slip and immediately is getting into prayer saying that i want you to uphold me therefore i will continue to walk in consistency as I had been walking in the past. Immediately mixes with prayer. Reasoning prayer. Reasoning prayer. This is called as the best way to fellowship with Father and while you reason, how you get into the prayer mode, the Holy Spirit will reveal to you. He will put that words in the time it will be given. Bible says in that appropriate time the Holy Spirit will tell you what you should pray, how you should pray. He will teach you the pattern. I have called upon you and you will hear me O God Incline your ear to me and hear my speech Which means what He staying on the bed and he just you know looking to the rooftop you know all lights shut out but then eyes are open how many of you have gone through that situation i have gone through that situation many times my wife who is lying next to me doesn't even know that yeah i would be just waking up and praying from heart lips will be uttering like how the ana new testament ana sorry old testament ana she was sitting there and she was mumbling right something like that no voice would come but inside there is a lot of sorrow and grief and you know Eli the prophet looked at her and said are you drunk or what? no I am not drunk thy servant is mumbling because of that sorrow and grief is so tremendous and immediately Eli gets a revelation next year you are going to deliver a son a baby boy and she said yes if that's the case I will dedicate that baby boy that experiences I am telling right and God is paying attention to even that mumbling lips you know I have gone through that situation. Whole night I would be ending up doing that. Many people also have the same experience. I am sure. Right? Not able to. And he is telling. I am calling you. Why? Because you will hear me. He has that confidence. Although I am not sleeping. God has never slept. You know that. Right? Psalm 121. 7 to 9. You read. He neither slumbered nor slept. Because he is watching over us. You need to have that confidence. That my God is definitely listening. and show your marvelous loving kindness by your right hand O you who save those who trust in you now he immediately converts see initially it started with burden then it became a prayer the petition now became praises see how beautifully he takes it from one stage to the other stage now he is praising God I know you are marvelous loving kindness you are very kind hearted person and you are my father and I will always trust in you for this reason that you will definitely save those who trust in you. Yeah. And you will rise up against them. Who are that them? Somebody is devising a plan against me whom you know father and I do not know. But you know the demonic weapons that are formed against me. I will stick to my promise that given to me no weapons formed against me shall prosper. I say 54 17. I do not know the weapons. Many times I have told God on this thing. Next day would be a very important day for me. Maybe I get into some sort of official work and this and that. I know that for sure tonight the demons are planning to devour me, to destroy me, to conflict with me, confront me, stop me, create obstacles for me. All those demonic weapons will not prosper because I know that you know what are the demonic weapons that are raised that are going to rise against me tomorrow. Therefore, my confidence and trust is in you. Although I knew not what are the demonic weapons formed against me and I don't care because my focus are on my God. This is the prayer and confidence that the psalmist is doing here. Keep me as the apple of your eye. Hide me under the shadow of your wings from the wicked who oppress me, from my deadly enemies who surround me. Now again, see from grief all the way to prayer, petition and the praises, then again back to prayer and petition. Right? And mixed with little bit of imagination that something is wrong around me and I do not know. See, it is not at all good to walk in assumption. People who are walking in complacency, all is well, brother. I am alright. Nothing is alright. Because you are living in a spiritual warfare. You are living in a world which is ruled by the devil for some time is allowed to do that. Therefore, nothing good comes of him. Everything is going to be bad. Especially you are the target because you have confessed the name of Jesus. Therefore, never assume all is well. Nothing is well. This is how you should start. Therefore, you will get on the better side. You will get on the side which is going to be all well for you. And that principle you can learn from Mr. David. Very good principle, isn't it? He is saying, I am the apple of your eyes. Zechariah 4.10. Hide me under the shadow of your beings. Because no one can cross that shadow. no one can cross your presence and attack me. That is the confidence he has on God. Wonderful, isn't it? They have. That's why I'm very excited all the time when I read Psalms. New patterns I learn. New methods I learn. New principles I learn. New doctrines I learn. New checklist I learn. New guidelines I learn. New protocol I learn. New revelation I learn. It's all about learning. They have closed up their fat hearts with their mouths. They speak proudly. He is talking about the people who are wicked and who are being devised as an instrument by the demonic forces. So our fight is not with blood and flesh. Don't fight with human beings. If you are doing that, you are not a Christian. Your fight is with the principalities and powers of darkness. These are the characteristic attributes of demonic weapons. Not talking about human beings. Understand this. You are a new covenant person. And although you are reading Old Covenant, you should unplug that Old Covenant attitude and plug in the New Covenant attitude, New Covenant principles. They have now surrounded us in our steps. They have set their eyes crouching down to the earth. Who is the day? The demons are working 24 by 7 in shifts, you know. What? Arrows of the day, pestilence of the noon and the terrors of the night. 24 by 7, three departments working all the time to threaten you, to frighten you, to scare you, to make you worried, to make you fearful. That is their job. What is your job? Not to get scared, not to be fearful, not to fall into a worrisome attitude. Resist the devil, Bible says. And he will flee away from you. James 4, 7. Spirit of power, love and soul mind is from God. Therefore, I will never get disturbed. 2 Timothy 1, 7. My God who called me is faithful. He who began the good work in me will help me to complete in style Philippians 1 6 therefore I will not be worried you know you should attack it back with the spiritual weapons given to us That the word of God Armor of God Right It the word of God Helmet of salvation is the word of God. Bible says. Like a lion that is eager to tear its prey and as an young lion lurking in secret places. He's describing the demon. He's describing the demonic forces that are ready to attack him. And he's giving some narrative explanations. Now he prays. See, now, these are all the narrative explanations where he's exposing his fear. That is also part of prayer. Now, he's specifically placing certain petitions. And this is very important. Verse number 13. I'm reading from Psalm 17, 13. Arise, O Lord, confront him, cast him down, deliver my life from the wicked with your sword. And God, who can fight against God's sword? Tell me. No one has powers to confront him. Absolutely. Therefore, finally, he's saying, you are my assert. You are my resort. and I am coming to you and I am going to hide under your wings and you are going to fight the battle for me. Father will do it willingly. I am telling you. You run to him for help. He will never say, no, no, no, how long, how many times you will come for a land tired man? He is not weary of anything, Bible says. How many other times you go to God, say, come my child, come. Which of the fathers or mother listening to me, your child is coming, you are started, you start to count. This is thousandth time you are coming to me. Your quota is over. Henceforth, you don't come to me. Go to the neighbor's house. Will anybody chase your children? You are crazy. I think you must be admitted in a mental hospital. Correct? You don't deserve to be. That's not part of the principles in parental care. You need to revisit your basics. I'm sure nobody is doing like that. But I'm just telling you in case if you are doing this, I'm sick and tired of my child. I don't want to handle him anymore. Is a parent telling like this? Maybe there are a few parents. Change your attitude. Because that's not the way how your abba father is dealing with you. Correct? If he were to tell, then enough and sick and tired, then already the devil is devouring you and you will be in hell, landing up in hell. With your hand from men, O Lord, from men of the world who have their portion in this life and whose belly you fill with your hidden treasure, they are satisfied with children and leave the rest of their substance for their babes. As for me, he's talking about the worldly people, right? They run after money, run after money, run after money. They do all this politics and they loot a lot of money. What they do? Their inheritance, they will leave it. And that fellow also will do the same. Or maybe there are two, three prodigal sons who will sit and eat and they will destroy all that he had earned. Because it's money of blood. Money of blood will never bring any benefit. Even you earn one single penny out of righteousness and hard earned money through that sweat and blood. God will multiply it. I am telling you the truth. Therefore, do not look at the rich fellows and look what car he is driving. Do you know that? It's the car with blood. If God were to open your spiritual eyes, it's filled with blood. So don't look at those money looters and be greedy or feel bad about you. Look, I don't have a car. I'm riding in bicycle. But that bicycle is harder money. And someday God is going to give you that credit, materialistic and spiritually also. Last verse I'm reading. As for me, I will see your face in righteousness. That's the prayer. Right? The money of righteousness, the deeds of righteousness will take you towards the path of holy deeds. And those that are holy only can see the presence of God or experience the presence of God. Those who shall walk in the presence of God are the ones who will be able to reach the kingdom of heaven. Hebrews 12, 14, you take and read, right? And I shall be satisfied when I awake in your likeness. With that we conclude. What can satisfy you? Today people are satisfied when they get promotion, when they get married, when they get bigger to new children. Or when they buy a new car or a new property, this and that, this year I'm satisfied. I'll tell you what, the same people will come and witness or testify. I felt all good brother, but six months later I'm feeling something empty in me. What can satisfy you? The righteous deeds, beloved. If you're holy enough, you'll be feeling satisfied. You'll be having the joy. Happiness is temporary, situational based. But joy is the strength, right? Joy of the Lord is the strength, right? What is your strength? Joy. What can bring the joy? righteous deeds. Do everything in a righteous way. Do not mix those worldly pleasures with a little bit of Bible and more of worldly laws and associate it and build up a hybrid and all that. Many Christians are like that. You know, fair-weathered Christians or seasonal Christians or you know, people who are camouflaging the laws and commandments. They mix it up. See, according to the world, we have to live like this brother. What to do? Yeah? Compromisers. Never do that. The word of the, God's word and God's promises and God's laws and commandments are yes and amen. There's nothing between in these two. So learn to live a righteous life and learn to pray like David. Learn to walk in supplications. Learn to praise God. Learn to reason. When God instills that reasoning questions in you, learn to pay attention to the voice of the Lord. May God lead you.
