church daily devotional. I know I've been sending up some texts. Today we're going to do live, but today we're going to be in Psalms 35, and it is a prayer to God for help against Those who try to inflict injury for no reason. When our enemies are unjust and lie about us, even then we do not, even when we do good to them, we can appeal to God who is always just. that's what the theme is for this today is it is a prayer to God this is David praying to God for help against the enemies that are after him wanting to kill him for an unjust way. You know, they want to set up pits to trap him and kill him. But David has got the ultimate power, and that is prayer to God who can handle any situation, because God is always just. So let's begin in a word of prayer, and then we'll start. Let me set this aside here. dear heavenly father we just thank you so much lord for your time and lord we just thank you it's always your time lord and we just thank you so much for all our listeners lord and we just thank you so much lord for what you're doing in brighterdaybaptistchurch.com and all our ministries lord we ask you lord for anyone that is hurting and inflicted lord that you just be with them, Lord, at this time and help them, Lord. We ask you, Lord, for everyone that is listening to be attentive to the word, Lord, and their minds and hearts would be open. We just thank you, Lord, for this time that we can share. In Christ's name we pray. Amen. So if you have your Bibles, please turn to Psalms 35, and I'll be reading. uh i got two versions here uh but i'm gonna be reading out of the king james so just be with me for a little bit here and i will read as much as i can here and then we uh go into some of the the commentary so we can understand more that coming out of this It says in verse one plead my case O Lord with them that strive with me fight against them that fight against me Take hold of a shield and buckle and stand up for my health. Draw out also the spear and stop the way against them that persecute me. Say unto my soul, I am thy salvation. Let them be confronted and put to shame that seek after my soul. Let them be turned back and brought to confusion that divides my hurt. Let them be as chaff before the wind, and let the angel of the Lord chase them. Let their way be dark and slippery, and let the angel of the Lord persecute them. for without cause they have hid for me their net in a pit which without cause they have digged for my soul. Let the destruction come upon him at unawares and let his net that he hath, he'd catch him into that very destruction, let him fall. And my soul shall be joyful in the Lord. It shall rejoice in his salvation. All my bones shall say, Lord, who is like unto thee, which delivereth the poor from him that is too strong for him. Yea, the poor and the needy from him that spoilt him. False witnesses did rise up. They laid to my charge things that I knew not. they reward me evil for good to the spilling of my soul But as for me when they were sick my clothing was a sackcloth I humbled my soul with fasting, and my prayer returned into my own bosom. I have behaved myself as those he had been my friend or my brother. I bowed down heavenly as one that mourneth for his mother. so here we see that david is using the talking to god against these people who are after him okay now i'm going to read a little bit in a different version here in my tablet so we can understand what's going on here i mean i love king james but i think it kind of brings it into a little bit more perspective. It says, Lord, oppose those who oppose me. Fight those who fight me. Pick up your shield, large and small. Get up and help me. Take a spear and a javelin and fight those who are chasing me. Tell me I will rescue you. Some people are trying to kill me. disappoint them and make them ashamed make them turn and run away they are planning to hurt me defeat and embarrass them make them like chaff and blow by the wind let them be chased by the angel by the lord's angel make their road dark and slippery let the lord angel chase them I did nothing wrong, but they tried to trap me for no reason at all. They dug a pit to catch me. So let them fall into their own traps. Let them stumble into their own nets. Let some unknown danger catch them. Then I will rejoice in the Lord. I will be happy when he saves me. with my whole self, I will say, Lord, there is none, no one like you. You protect the poor from those who are stronger So reading today to you today I come up across this thing You know, we seem like we pray for health, for things that goes on in our lives, you know, pray for sin issues, but we got this prayer here that David is praying for the Lord to fight a battle, right? Now, this battle, these people that's after David, now they might be somebody that, just take this instance, they might be somebody that's after you today. They might be a battle that you're fighting today. So when we take that same prayer here in Psalms and put, hey, Lord, I need you to go fight this battle for me. I need you to go. See, Lord, he will help us, but he'll go also to battle for us. We have a mighty God who will go and battle for us. So we need to use this prayer to, you know, ask God, you know, I've got a battle that I can't win. But, Lord, I know you can do it for me. I can pray this prayer. Lord, you pick up a spear and you do this against this person who's trying to inflict harm on me. You know, if you're in a dangerous situation, Psalm 35, I believe will be an absolute benefit to know this prayer. If you're in a dangerous situation, because God will absolutely do the battling for you. If you just get on your knees and you pray to God and say, Lord, I need your help. I need you to go out there and fight for me against these people who are against me. So I hope it's a blessing to you today. And we're going to be in Psalms 36 the next time. So remember, you're not alone. You've got a mighty God on your side who can take care of anything. Let's end in prayer. Dear Heavenly Father, we just thank you so much, Lord, for this time that we can share. uh, devotion, Lord. We ask you, Lord, to bless those listeners. We ask you, Lord, to just help those in need. And Lord, you're a mighty God. And we have, we have a active, powerful God that can, uh, fight our battles. We just thank you for that, Father. Thank you for this lesson. In Christ's name we pray. Amen.
