Transcript: Biblical Miracles Explained by Dr. Johnson Cherian

Thank you. Praise the Lord. Welcome to this series titled Miracles from the Bible. I am Dr. Johnson Charian. And I will be reading a small passage from Matthew chapter 16, verses 13 to 16. When Jesus came into the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Who do men say that I, the Son of Man, am? And they said, Some said John the Baptist, some Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets. He said to them, But who do you say that I am Simon Peter answered and said You are Christ the Son of the living God Praise the Lord Here is a great revelation that was given to Simon Peter And Jesus later on tells who gave that revelation to Simon Peter. As we read verse 17 onwards, Jesus answered and said to him, blessed are you, Simon bar Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my Father who is in heaven. Praise the Lord. God the Father can give us revelations regarding things that people don't know anything about. Here are all the disciples gathered together and people are wondering who this miracle worker from Nazareth is. And they had all kinds of opinions regarding who Jesus was. Some said that he was John the Baptist, some Elijah, some Jeremiah and some said one of the other prophets, but then Jesus asks his disciples, who do you say that I am? And there only one who could answer and he gave the answer correctly and he said you are the Christ the son of the Living God And Jesus immediately blesses him and says blessed are you Simon Bar Because he did not receive that revelation from anyone else. No one had told him that this is Christ, the Son of the Living God. It's the Father himself who reveals this mystery to Peter. and we read Jesus telling flesh and blood has not revealed this to you but my father who is in heaven God can give you also many revelations in your life about your present life about other people about your future about the future of other people prophecy is a gift that God has given to the church when you are filled with the Holy Spirit of God some receive the gift of prophecy I don't say that all are true prophets of God but God has given that gift to many believers Praise the Lord God gives words of wisdom words of knowledge and prophecy as gifts to his children to the church If you wait upon God for the Holy Spirit and for his anointing God will give you the gifts of the Holy Spirit too There are many people who say that the gifts have ceased. No, the gifts have not ceased because God has not changed. He still gives the gifts of the Holy Spirit, the gifts of grace to his children, to the church. And it is for the blessing of the church and also for people who have not known Christ. Wait upon God, receive the anointing of the Holy Spirit and receive the gifts of the Holy Spirit of God.
