Greetings to the last 6th of my TV fans, this is Jason Lockard here with you once again bringing you another Silver Screen Spotlight. And today we're talking about not one, not two, not three, but four brand new releases from the good folks at Kino Lorber Studio Classics. Yeah, we're talking about four new releases that are yet to be released. So we're giving you kind of a first look before, you know, you even get to see them because we got advanced copies. All right, so we're going to show you some interesting things. We got a good mix here, some action, adventure, some comedy, some romance, all kinds of cool stuff. So let's jump right into it with the very first one. We're talking about Ronald Coleman in If I Were a King. I love it. I love it. This actually is a pretty interesting little adventure film here. Basically takes place in 15th century Paris. And a rogue poet matches wits with a king and leads the empire to victory in this spectacular romantic adventure. It's from 1938 in original black and white. 101 minutes. And interestingly enough, this is from a brand new 2K scan. And so, yeah, we're looking at a really, really awesome, awesome looking picture here. So that's going to be great to see. One thing that I think is pretty cool is Basil Rathbone is in this. For a lot of film fans, Basil Rathbone is Sherlock Holmes. And, you know, so that's kind of cool seeing Basil Rathbone, seeing Ronald Coleman in there. Of course, Francis D is in this. Screenplay by Preston Sturgis, which is pretty amazing. The classic, as we have come to know with Kino Lorber, the classic black and white disc. Love that. I don't know. It kind of sets it apart. But anyway, that's pretty cool. We get audio commentary, the theatrical trailer. Really awesome. But I love the 2K scan. That's awesome. So, yeah, looking forward to this adventure, If I Were a King, pretty awesome. All right, continuing with the adventure, we're talking about an interesting film. Many people in this generation you say the name Marco Polo to a kid in this generation and you know what they thinking Marco Polo, Marco Polo. That's what they're thinking, you know, sadly. Marco Polo, actually, and we'll give you a little brief synopsis of it here, is this is Rory Calhoun, which I love. Rory Calhoun is in this. stars as Marco Polo, the legendary 13th century explorer who journeys to China in the aim to expand world trade. There he meets a princess and an old hermit who has just invented gunpowder, and he uses this magic explosive to build this cannon and then spearhead a rebellion against an evil warlord. So this is going to be really, really cool. Brand new 4K scan, people. 4K scan here of Marco Polo, this classic, from 1962. 104 minutes. Yeah, pretty awesome. Audio commentary, theatrical trailer, pretty cool. Again, the classical black and white disc, so cool. Yeah, this is going to be awesome. There's the back. I should have showed you the back on If I Were a King, but anyway, there you go. There's the back on Marco Polo. Pretty cool. Looking forward to this one. Like Rory Calhoun, so that's going to be cool, seeing Rory Calhoun. All right, now we're going to transition a little bit from the adventure. And we're going to laugh a lot with two of my favorite comedians. We're talking Bob Hope and Lucille Ball. Love this one. Sorrowful Jones. Wow. This is really cool. Brand new 2K scan. This is unbelievable. Um, 1942, um, black and white, uh, 88 minutes long. I actually, uh, have this in, uh, here at Classic Cinema Plus Studios in a, uh, big box set of, uh, uh, Bob Hope movies, uh, but they are on DVD, uh, and they are not in 2K scans. So this is going to be a welcomed edition, uh, because I actually love Sorrowful Jones. Uh, just to give you a little brief synopsis of it, uh, Bob Hope and Lucille Ball unite in the, for the first time, awesome, in this heartwarming story spun, uh from Damon Runyon uh famous fable about a penny Broadway uh bookie called Sorrowful Jones played by Hope Sorrowful takes a bet from a rotten gambler who leaves his young daughter as collateral When the better doesn't come back, Sorrowful Jones learns some hard lessons about parenthood, whether he wants to or not. It's really, it's a lot of fun, but there is a lot of heart in this film too, which a lot of times Bob Hope is known just for being off the wall, crazy funny. And he's still hilarious in this film, but there is a lot, a lot of heart in this film too, which I think shows Bob Hope's range as an actor, that he could do both. I think that is pretty cool. So, okay, in this we get the theatrical trailer and, of course, the classic black and white disc. And there is the back cover. So, yeah, that's going to be pretty cool to check out. I'm looking forward to seeing this on Blu-ray in the new 2K scan. That's going to be awesome. All right, then the final one, we're going to jump back into the adventure. And we're going to jump into two amazing actors. We're talking two amazing, amazing actors, Robert Young and Charlton Heston. Okay, so Robert Young, first off, many people may only think of Robert Young or they think of Robert Young and they think of Father Knows Best. Okay, that's a lot of what people probably would think. oh, Father Knows Best. That's the guy from Father Knows Best. Yes, it is. But he was an amazing actor beyond just that TV show. And a lot of people, if you're like me, you think of Charlton Heston, and this is the one that I think of because I love this film. I have watched this film over 50 times in my life, and it is one of my favorites. We're talking Planet of the Apes, the original Planet of the Apes. I love this film so much. Yeah, so for me, Charlton Heston, Planet of the Apes, that's what I think of. But this is a new one. This is one actually that I have not seen. So when I saw this was going to be released, I was like really, really excited because I was like, wow, I have got to check this out. I'm talking Charlton Heston and Robert Young, and we're talking secret of the Incas. Wow. This is going to be pretty awesome. Now I will say something that is cool with this you get this slip cover here and you also get different artwork on the the insert that I think is awesome That is totally cool Okay so this is from a brand new 4K scan Awesome And Tron Heston plays a rugged adventurer Harry Steele who earns his living as a tour guide in the jungles of Peru, but plans to make his fortune by finding the sunburst, an ancient Inca treasure that holds awesome power. As we said, Robert Young is in this and he plays archaeologist Stanley Moorhead in this film. So that's pretty cool. From 1954 in color, 100 minutes. And yeah, as we said, in a brand new 4K scan from Paramount Pictures. Awesome. Yeah, that is pretty cool. I love these slipcovers here. Love me some slipcovers. And I love them because most of the time slipcovers, when you get a slipcover, you get the slipcover that has one kind of artwork, and then you get a different kind of artwork, which I think is so much cool. Classic black and white disc, as always with Kino Lorber. You've got to love that. I know I do. I really do. I love the – I don't know. There's something about those classic black and white discs. They're pretty cool. And, of course, the back cover looks like that. There you go. Pretty cool. So, yeah, I'm looking forward to this. This will be my first time seeing The Secret of the Incas. So I am looking very, very forward to checking this one out. So good stuff this month from Kina Lorber Studio Classics. Can't wait to jump in.
