Greetings, Classic Cinema TV fans. This is Jason Lockhart here with you once again, bringing you another Silver Screen Spotlight. Today, this is a Small Screen Spotlight. Yeah, we're talking about a new release from the good folks at Universal. I love this. We're talking about a reboot, a continuation, I guess maybe is more the idea. It's a continuation of a classic sci-fi series. We're talking about Quantum Leap. This is the brand new series, Quantum Leap. This is season one, now on Blu-ray from Universal Pictures. Pretty cool. Now, Quantum Leap is one of my favorite science fiction shows. Quantum Leap here, of course, has talks about or features Sam Beckett, who steps into the Quantum Leap Accelerator and vanishes. And he leaps into people in the past and he tries to put right what once went wrong and hoping each time that his next leap will be the leap home. This, of course, this release here is from the complete series from Mill Creek Entertainment. Of course, this is something we've done here, which is a better looking thing than what is normal with the DVD release. But anyway, that's what we did here is this to make Quantum Leap a little bit better. But love this series. This is one of my favorites. So when they were saying they were going to redo it and bring it I was hopeful to have Dr Sam Beckett come back but Scott Bakula for all intents and purposes have said he not coming back to the series He's not going to be a part of it. And that's a shame because in the fifth season of the original series, when the final episode, we just got the thing that said Sam Beckett never made it home. And that was a real bummer because we had went five seasons hoping that somehow Sam Beckett would get home. And he didn't. And so when they were talking about bringing back a new series and a new version of Quantum Leap, my hope was that Sam Beckett would get to come home. Well, maybe just maybe there's hope. Why do I say that? Well, the new series Quantum Leap stars Raymond Lee as Dr. Ben Song. He is taking the Quantum Leap Accelerator, and he jumps into the Quantum Leap Accelerator, and he's doing his thing, and he's for a purpose. And we're not going to spoil that, but there's a reason for that. He's trying to save someone, and we'll just leave it at that. Um, so anyway, uh, now the interesting thing is the man that brought back the Quantum Leap project is, uh, Hubert Magic Williams. Now, maybe if you're a big fan of Quantum Leap, you remember that name. Maybe you don't. But in the original series of Quantum Leap, Magic is a man that Sam leaps into. There's a two-part episode called The Leap Home. Now The Leap Home of the first episode Sam jumps into leaps into himself as a teenager And he there to help his team win the big game the big basketball game The next leap he leaps into a guy named Magic to try to save his brother life in the Vietnam War Very, very interesting episode. Okay, so fast forward. The new series, you have Magic, the guy that Sam leaps into and helps save his life and all. And he becomes a government agent and he helps restart the Quantum Leap program. And his idea is to maybe someday help save and bring back Dr. Sam Beckett. That is so cool. So interestingly enough, Hubert Magic Williams is played by Ernie Hudson of Ghostbusters fame. So that's pretty cool. I've watched the whole first season of the new Quantum Leap on Peacock Network, and I enjoyed it. Some, of course, with all seasons, some episodes are better than others, of course. And I think for the most part, most of the episodes were okay. Some were better, but most were okay. Some were eh, but, you know, all in all, it was a pretty enjoyable series. First season, I should say. Now, I can't wait to check this out on Blu-ray and see it that way. Because when you stream the series, sometimes the quality is not as spectacular as it is on physical media. That why I a physical media proponent because you get much higher quality than you do on streaming So these are definitely going to look a lot better than they do on streaming services So yeah I looking forward to checking that out Sadly no bonus features I would have liked to seen some bonus features here, but we're not seeing any bonus features. We just have all of the episodes on four discs. Okay. In addition, on the inside cover, you have all the synopsis of all the episodes on the inside cover. So, um, yeah, so we're, I'm, I'm excited about it. I'm, I'm excited to be able to tell you more about that. And we're going to do that, uh, when we jump into this and, uh, I will have a full written review on Classic Cinema Plus. Um, this is going to be, uh, well, it's a nice addition to the original series. So you got the original series of Quantum Leap. You got the new remake, reboot, continuation series, season one, Blu-ray. That's going to be pretty cool. So yeah, I'll have a full written review of this coming up on Classic Cinema Plus very, very soon. So be sure to go and check it out.
