Greetings, classic cinema and TV fans. Jason back here with you once again, here on another Classic Cinema Plus, taking a look at some brand new releases, this time from the good folks at Warner Archive. Uh, yeah, we got three new releases, uh, right here in our hands and, uh, pretty awesome ones to say the least. Um, a little bit of mix of everything, um, but really, really awesome. Um, we're going to start off with, uh, um, kind of an interesting one. Uh, this one is called Joe's Apartment. Okay, so Joe's Apartment is kind of a really interesting comedy. Sex, Blood, Bugs, and Rock and Roll. Joe's Apartment stars Joe, Jerry O'Connell. When he moves into his new apartment, he discovers that he's sharing the apartment with prior tenants. yeah 50,000 singing dancing wisecracking cockroaches okay well when you read that you already know you're in for some crazy fun um but the bugs are more than just that they seem to meddle into joe's romance with lily played by megan ward and uh yeah it's it's it's just off the wall crazy, but so much fun. Such a really, really interesting film. Jerry O'Connell, this is very early in his career. I always loved Jerry O'Connell from his time on my, literally my favorite science fiction show of all time, Sliders. Of course, Sliders ended really horribly, but anyway, but that's another issue for another time. But anyway, but this is really kind of cool. Warner Archive has brought this to Blu-ray, I should say, and it looks pretty impressive. And they added something that I really love with bonus features. Something that I really enjoy when Warner Archive does is when they put the classic cartoons on there. I really enjoy that. And they have added pretty interesting ones here. The Warner Brothers cartoons, The Lady in Red From Hair to Eternity and Superior Duck as well as the original theatrical trailer is found in this release Pretty awesome Okay for your disc it is the same artwork that is found on the cover itself but yeah it is really cool. From what I've seen, it looks and sounds pretty amazing. Warner Archive is always doing great stuff. Warner Archive, really, very rarely have I ever been disappointed with a release from Warner Archive. I've never been disappointed by the picture quality. The transfers and all are always spectacular. The only thing that maybe could be a disappointment in some releases is the lack of massive bonus features. That would be about the only thing that I would say, oh, well, that was a bit of a disappointment. But they never disappoint in the picture quality. And this one, it's not disappointing either. It looks pretty amazing. So yeah, definitely want to check that one out. All right, continuing on, we got a classic here. I'm talking Golden Age Hollywood classic. This is Cabin in the Sky. Really tremendous cast here. Ethel Waters, Eddie Rochester Anderson, Lena Horne, Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington and his orchestra. I mean, just tons of great talent in this film. This one is based on the Broadway musical Cabin in the Sky, and it tells about a guy named Little Joe, not Little Joe Cartwright, but Little Joe. And he's kind of torn between a fun-loving girl named Georgia and his devoted wife, Petunia. And he's kind of torn between them, wanting to be devoted to his wife, but yet wanting to have fun as well. And he's just kind of torn between the two. But to make matters even worse, he's also torn in a tug of war between the emissaries of the Lord and Satan. So he's got that going on as well. And so it's a really interesting, I haven't seen this in like forever. I saw this back when I was a kid and I haven't seen it since. So I'm really looking forward to checking it out again with this new restoration and new transfer and all. Really looks awesome, especially from what I've seen of it so far It looks pretty amazing Um again um basically not exactly the same artwork but similar artwork on the inside cover for the disc And uh bonus features we got a featured audio commentary with Rochester Anderson wife and daughter which is really cool and many other great film people. There's also in this audio commentary an interview excerpt with Lena Horne, which is really, really cool. We get a vintage Pete Smith specialty short, which I love the Pete Smith shorts. Oh, they are so cool. This is a studio visit, so that's going to be cool to see. There's an audio-only bonus outtake with Louis Armstrong, Ain't It the Truth? So that's going to be interesting to hear. And then, of course, there's also the original theatrical trailer. So that is pretty awesome. I love these classics from the archive. That is so cool. Love that. All right, and then finally, this one. I was really looking forward to this one. I love Rodney Dangerfield. His man gets no respect, no respect at all. I always love his comic. He's so much fun to listen to and love his movies. This one was like crazy and so much fun. And I was like, this is awesome. We're seeing this come into Blu-ray. This is Rover Dangerfield. Oh, my goodness. This is so awesome. This is so awesome to get to see this come into Blu-ray. Can you believe we're getting Rover Dangerfield? I mean, this is unbelievable. This is, of course, written by Rodney Dangerfield. And it's an animated film about a dog named Rover Dangerfield. Same thing, just same dog gets no respect. It's so cool. You know, Rover is a, he lives in Las Vegas, but he gets shipped away to the farm. And where he's, he gets the barnyard blues, if you will. And soon he has new friends and new adventures and setting up and begging the question of whether the pooch will genuinely be happy in his new home. And I love what it says here. Find out by calling Rover over. Okay. Okay. Warner Archive, we got you. That's good. Pretty interesting. Again, another great looking transfer that I've seen in just looking at it. Looks pretty awesome But what I love about this is here Warner Archive is giving us not only the full length feature animated film Rover Dangerfield but we also get some classic WB cartoons We get Dog Days and Dog Collared as well as the theatrical trailer of Rover Dangerfield Really, really awesome. Oh, I can't wait to check this one out. It's been forever since seeing this one. There's your disc. And so it's pretty cool. I like it. I like it. Rover Dangerfield, a lot of fun. And it's fun for the whole family. That's the interesting thing. Rodney Dangerfield's comedy, while hilarious, ain't for the family. It ain't for the kids, especially his movies. His movies These can be a little risque, if you will. So they're not for the whole family. But this one, yes, this is for the whole family. This is rated G, and it's pretty good. I haven't seen it in forever, and I'm really looking forward to checking it out with this new transfer. So awesome. So those are some really cool new releases coming from Warner Archive.
