Greetings Classic Cinema TV fans, Jason back with you once again bringing you another Classic Cinema Plus and today we are looking at a, I hate to use classic TV show because this really isn't, it's not really a classic TV show, because this is more of a newer show, but it's still pretty cool, and yeah, today we're talking about a brand new release coming, and pretty awesome, from Universal Pictures, this is the complete collection of heroes. This is pretty cool. This is going to be pretty epic today on Classic Cinema Plus. Be sure to like, share, and subscribe. All right. So Heroes is kind of an interesting show. I remember when this – there was a lot of buzz to this when – because we were in a – the starting of the superhero boom. and there was a lot of shows trying to cash in and do things like that. We had seen a lot of different shows. You know, listening to like No Ordinary Family, there was like The Cape. There was a lot of different shows that were trying to be superhero, original superhero type shows. And Heroes was one of them. But they were doing it in a different way. They were not going to make it a superhero show. It was going to be more of people with extraordinary powers, which was kind of cool, actually. He wouldn't have the superheroes running around with the capes and the costumes, but you would have people with extraordinary powers trying to affect the world and save the world and help the world, which was kind of cool. Um, uh, amazing cast of characters. Um, you had Claire Bennett who, who was like, um, who could regenerate, uh, herself from, from like injuries. Um, uh, Peter Patelle, um, had, uh, the ability to mimic, right? And, and his brother Nathan was, uh, the ability to fly. And Hiro Nakamura could bend space and time, kind of control space and time, right? Really some interesting characters, right? And the interesting thing that I thought was really cool was it all kind of like started from the eclipse is what we figured it happened because that was the point. And so the idea was that they had the Eclipse and then you had the Heroes logo from it. And that was really awesome. So I was like enthralled with this. When this first came out, it was like, yes. So Heroes Season 1, this, of course, is the DVD set. And boy, the DVD set is so cool. Just to show it to you. It's a fold-out seven-disc set of Heroes. The complete first season was really awesome. And Heroes, the first season was more or less critically acclaimed, and fans loved it too. Everybody seemed to really enjoy Heroes, the first season. It was just a really inspiring, really, really interesting show. And it really kept your interest through the whole first season. The whole first season was Save the Cheerleaders, Save the World. That was the theme. And so they would have chapters And what I always loved about it was kind of like graphic novel if you will You had like the little things and it was like the little bubbles and the little different things the word bubbles and all. And it kind of like made you feel like you were watching a comic book come to life, a graphic novel, if you will, come into life. And I just think that was so cool. um but what happened was season one was amazing and then it was leading into season two well then they got a writer's strike uh we just came out as we're recording this we just uh you know came out of a writer's strike a little bit ago and and um but they were in a writer's strike and with that happening you had a shortened season of season two um and uh season two suffered a lot This, of course, is season two here on DVD. And season two suffered a great deal from the shortened season. It was really, it was kind of bad. Season two just did not hit. And the audience, the response showed that. it started off and then it kind of just diminished. Season three was the same thing. You lost people watching because they just were no longer invested in the series. And so season three, again here, season three, even though they had a full season at this point, it just suffered. And by the time you hit season four, it was pretty much over. There was not – you were not going to recover at this point. So they ended up having to just finish out the season and just kind of let it go. And they tried to, you know, kind of tie in the loose ends and just kind of make it as best as they can to complete the series, if you will. I enjoyed it. I loved season one. Season two and three and four were less than stellar. But I'll show you why I loved it so much and why the proof is that I loved it so much is I bought even the soundtrack of Heroes because I loved it so much. I enjoyed the music. I enjoyed the TV show. But in all honesty, yes, season two, three, and four were pretty bad. They just didn't quite hit. Um, then here recently, um, not so recently, but anyway, uh, a little recently we've, we saw a, a reboot or a, or a continuation more, not really a reboot. It was more of a continuation to the series to try to, try to, um, see if they could bring it back with, uh, Heroes Reborn. And, uh, the thing that I love about this is, uh, as you saw, we, we got the first three seasons. Um, I didn't go any further after season three, buying season three. I was just like, eh, it's not that spectacular, so why spend the money? That was my feeling. So I just didn't go any further with it. But with this new box set, it is amazing from Universal Pictures. This is Heroes the Complete Collection, okay? So let's look at it. So first off, we get season one and two here of Heroes on Blu-ray. Okay. It is all the discs there of season one. And then you got the different color discs for season two, the shortened season. Okay. And tons of bonus features. I don't have time to go through it, but there's deleted seeds and audio commentaries and the making of Heroes. And one of the cool things that is on this is the extended pilot episode. Okay Something that was in this set the first season of Heroes the DVD was the unaired 73 premiere episode It was an extended episode. When I saw this coming out, I was like, I hope they don't take that off. I hope they put that on there. And they did. So that was really cool. So that's interesting. There you go, season one and two. Then there's season three and four here, different color to the hero's logo, the sunburst and all, which is kind of cool. And you got season three and then season four there. Pretty cool. Again, deleted and extended scenes, superpowers of heroes, just all kinds of different things on here, which is really, really cool. I'm not going through all of it. We'll do a full written review of that coming up at Classic Cinema Plus. But the cool thing that I really love about this is that we get Heroes Reborn, the rebooted or continuation series that tried to clear up everything. I think their real idea was to try to make it into another series. But what they did do was try to clean up some of the things and tell you what happened to certain people and whatever. So, and it was a fun little series, but in all honesty, it wasn't any better than season two, three, and four of Heroes. It just didn't quite hit, at least to me anyway. Love the artwork, though, on the Heroes Reborn. I think that's pretty cool. So, pretty cool stuff. So Heroes Reborn, Reliving the Legacy, and Heroes Reborn, Dark Matters, and Deleted Scenes are all included in this collection here. Now, I will say this. Now, you can watch all of this series, Heroes and Heroes Reborn, on Peacock Network. If you subscribe to Peacock Network, you can watch them all there. Um, but I will say this, uh, there is something about the physical media for me. I enjoy it. I enjoy, I guess it's just me from, from being a kid, uh, you know, and, and, uh, you know, watching VHS tapes. Um, right. Uh, when I was, when I first got into movies, VHS was on the way out and we were getting into DVD. So I was, uh, I was finding VHS tapes for like, uh, next to nothing. So I was watching VHS tapes and then DVDs started coming in and then we started doing DVDs and then Blu-rays and so on and so forth. But there's just something about that physical copy that you have in your hands. You put them in the player and you watch that way. We subscribe to Peacock Network too here at Classic Cinema Plus. But there is. There's something about watching the physical copy. So to me, this is pretty cool to see this here. Now, I will say I have checked out the pilot, the extended pilot episode on the Blu-ray, and I put it in comparison to the DVD release here on the pilot extended episode. And I kind of looked at it, and I will say there might be a very, very slight upgrade to the picture quality. But I won't say that it is insanely great or an insane upgrade. It's maybe a mild upgrade from the DVD release. But what makes this really really cool for me this box set of Blu Heroes is the fact that you get everything okay So we have season one two and three on DVD and we don have season four and we don have the reboot That what makes this so cool is that you have everything and it is all in one set Now, another thing that makes this really cool is the fact of space, okay? because let's be honest, space is a premium, especially when you're a physical media person. So here's your DVDs and there's your Blu-ray, okay? You've got the exact same size, as you can see. It's basically the exact same size of the season one, two, and three. And this, you get every single season of the entire season of Heroes, all seasons of the Heroes and the Heroes Reborn all here. And it's the exact same size as season one, two, and three. So that's what makes this, in my opinion, a little bit better. Although I will tell you, I love this, the first season of Heroes on DVD. I just think they did such a tremendous job with it. This is one of my favorite things that they did because it literally is just so cool. Just like a comic book, a graphic novel. I just love it. So it's going to be hard for me to retire this because it is so cool. But I probably will because there's really no need to have Blu-ray and DVD. Although I do have some. There are some things that I have Blu-ray and DVD of both because I love them so much. And I don't know. Maybe I'll keep this one just because it's so cool because I love it so much. I may just keep it, even though space is a premium, I may do it anyway just because I love it. I don't know, but we'll see. So what are your thoughts on Heroes? Were you a fan of Heroes?
