Good morning and good evening my dear brothers and sisters. A warm welcome to one and all of you and I greet you in the matchless name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. As always I feel deeply honored and privileged to be part of these sessions and I want to thank our God, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ that is enabling such wonderful moments that we are able to meditate from the word of God and discuss through this word of God. Why such sessions are very important is because that's when we will truly understand the love of God, the compassion of God, the mercies of God, the favor of God. and God is the centric portion and around which everything is getting revolved. You may think it's some of your skills, capabilities, your talent, your qualification or anything that you think is the reason for your success. Definitely it's not the case. Why? Because it's the grace of God that enables that wonderful energy that really makes us moving forward. And never forget that, that it really costs for Jesus to shed his precious blood on the cross to purchase you and me for a price. A warm welcome to this session again. And today we are going to, it's a short session and we are going to complete in 9 to 10 minutes maximum. We are going to talk from today, Jeremiah 31 verses 31 to 40. Sorry, not 40, 31 to 37. and the title of this conversation is New Covenant. Many people don't have this understanding of New Covenant and Old Covenant and they ignore Old Covenant or some people only consider Old Covenant and not the New Covenant. Either ways it is not wrong, I'm sorry, not right. You stick to only Old Covenant and completely neglecting Old Covenant is not right according to Matthew 5.17. Jesus said, I came to not abolish the laws, but I came to fulfill the laws, which means he had fulfilled all the laws and commandments, including the do not lust commandment. And that's why there was no blemish in him. Even before he stepped into the new covenant, there was no blemish in him. That is what the Bible says. and likewise people only considering the old covenant and not getting into new covenant although they don't officially acknowledge that but through their ways you can see they are traditional people right you look at catholic people you look at a few of the people belonging to the traditional denominations and congregations they are very traditional and most of their practices can be tightly coupled with old covenant which means they have not yet gone into new covenant. Now what is the thin line of difference between old covenant and new covenant? If somebody were to ask this question, how do you explain this? Old covenant is not abolished. Old covenant is extended and that is called as new covenant. The old covenant methods are refined and enriched and taken to the next level. Good example, if you take and read Matthew chapter 5 verses, I think 20 onwards if you read there are two important commandments that you can see which are pretty much connected with the old covenant and extracted. What is that? According to the old covenant it says if you commit murder is when you are convicted. Do not murder commandment you have broken. But I say to you that the moment you are having anger in your heart you have already committed murder you see so which is better old covenant way you allowing enough anger like how cain allowed and then finally he murdered his brother abel and finally he was convicted and condemned you want to reach you want to be there no jesus actually refined and enriched for the benefit of the mankind for the goodness and welfare of the mankind the moment you allow anger your commandment says that there is something not right that is new covenant therefore you have an opportunity to fix it at the root level ground level and you can chop it off right Before even it gets multiplied right And then you are ending up in jail after you commit a murder And you will end up in the lake of fire also. Likewise, the old covenant says, do not lust. Sorry, do not prostitute. Which means you go and lie with a prostitute in her bed. And then you commit that whatever, right? and then you are convicted and condemned. But new covenant says the moment you have that lustful thought in your mind, in your heart, there itself you have committed adultery. This is called as a refined method and the enriched way of looking at the commandments and the law. And Jesus took it to the next level. I can give more examples, but time won't be sufficient. Therefore, I'm moving to the book of Jeremiah. And what is the surprising factor here is, even in the old covenant, there is a lot mentioned about the new covenant. Then how is that you can ignore the new covenant when the old covenant is giving enough attention to the new covenant? Correct? There are a lot of people who missed a mark. That's why we are picking such topics and we are trying to clarify. Jeremiah 31, verse number 31. I am going to read it slowly and we will discuss. 31 to 37. Only 7 verses we will discuss in close. Behold the days are coming, says the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah. House of Israel and house of Judah. That's not the point here. I will make a new covenant. New covenant can never be established without Jesus. Jesus is the way to the new covenant. He is the one who gave the life to the new covenant. and through him only the truth has been accomplished in the new covenant according to John 14.6. That's why Bible says, Every knee shall bow and every tongue shall confess that he is the Lord of lords and he is the King of kings. Without a doubt, you and I need to really abide in this principle. Verse number 32, Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt, is getting, is reminding the people, do not refer to the covenant which I made in the land of Egypt. No, that is old covenant. But this one, my covenant, which they broke, though I was a husband to them, says the Lord. When we say covenant, it is all about agreement. It's all about, you know, signing a sale deed. For example, buyer-seller. You both sign the sale deed, the buyer agrees that I am buying from so and so person. Now the seller agrees that I am selling to so and so person. And that is called as the sale deed agreement. Correct. And they sign it in front of the sub-register office and it is also a copy sent to the government of whichever, for example, government of Karnataka in India. You are buying a house in Bangalore, for example. Correct. And likewise, God signed the sale deed. Not a sale deed, it's an agreement that you follow these laws and commandments and I will be your God, you will be my children. But they broke that covenant. Therefore, now that, see, the moment either of the parties is breaking the agreement, then that sale deed is invalid. Right? Before the sale happens. Likewise, they broke the covenant. Now that covenant is no more valid. I need to look for a new covenant, a new agreement. But, verse number 33, But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel. After those days, says the Lord, I will put my law in their minds and write it on their hearts. You can find a similar verse in 1 Corinthians chapter. I don't remember. I think chapter 15. Right. I will not write it on the stone anymore. I will write it on their hearts. Paul gets reminded of this covenant. Right. And that why the new covenant people really have to read Bible more If possible you memorize the verses It very important It needful It is living right inside of you Therefore the Holy Spirit is able to work with you and me and remind you and me from the scriptures and lead us through the scriptures and get us to the right track That what is mentioned in John 14 26 If you get time please read these verses All right And I will put my law in their minds and write it on their hearts. And I will be their God and they shall be my people. The moment the law of God, the commandment of God is written in your heart, the devil cannot snatch it. Yeah, as long as it stays in your mind, which means you are in the state of instability. You are in a volatile state, semi-solid state. You are neither here or there or you are thinking or you are so much attracted towards a worldly pleasure which you are not ready to give up. So many factors associated. Therefore, you and I need to really pay attention to this important subject that you need to really read Bible from your heart, not from your mind. Mind is exposed to the world but heart is exposed to the Lord. Heart is looked by the Lord and mind is looked by the devil. Yeah. And whatever is in your mind, it will not stay for too long. But whatever is in your heart, it is permanent. And that's why you will see a lot of saints like King David and, you know, even the New Covenant, Apostle Paul. They never stepped back. They've never got into the backslidden mode. Once started, that's it. Nothing could stop them. Always marching ahead. Why? Because they work from heart. That is the New Covenant. All right. No more shall every man teach his neighbor and every man his brother saying, Know the Lord for they all shall know me from the least of them to the greatest of them, says the Lord. For I will forgive their iniquity and their sin. I will remember them no more. You can find the same verse in Hebrews chapter 8 and verse 12. Why? Because when the new covenant is executed, the basic step is God forgives all the sins that you are confessing. The first step is confession. And the second step is forgiveness from the Lord. And the third step is reconciling with the Lord. Now all this happens not without the remission of sins through the blood of Jesus. Not without the suffering on the cross. Not without Jesus laying his life down on the cross. and that's very important for every creation of God, every children of God to understand. Why? Because I will remember their sins no more. In other words, God cannot remember their sins anymore. Why? Because it's forgiven. It's cleansed through the sacrifice because Jesus purchased you and me for a price, shedding his precious blood on the cross. We belong to him. Therefore, whatever Jesus is requesting to the Lord, it will be fulfilled. It will be accomplished. That's what 1 Corinthians 6.20 says. Acts 2.38 says. Acts 11.18 says. There is remission of sins and you will receive the anointing of the Holy Ghost as a free gift. I want to close in a moment. In verse number 35. 5. Thus says the Lord who gives the sun for a light by day and the ordinance of the moon and the stars and the light the night which disturbs the sea and its waves roars the Lord of hosts is his name. and if those ordinances depart from before me says the Lord then the seed of Israel shall also cease from being a nation before me forever thus says the Lord if heaven above can be measured and the foundations of the earth searched out beneath I will also cast out all the seed of Israel for all that they have done says the Lord God is actually putting up a challenge here with that we close What he is saying is, if you are able to understand this fact that the roaring waves and the seas are going to be completely removed from the face of the earth, yeah then without my knowledge God says and then it is possible that I agree that the covenant which I make with them also will be removed Is it possible by any man to overthrow sea No They are not able to Can anybody encroach the boundaries of sea No They are uncontrollable Right Because they are controlled by God the Father. Similarly, this nation is actually controlled by me. That also means whoever falls in the new covenant will fall into my regime. And therefore, no evil weapon formed against them, no demonic weapon formed against them will prosper. and likewise if you are able to understand where the foundation of the earth is laid and all that beyond your reach the wisdom is beyond your reach then similar then you are able to break this covenant which means God is putting another challenge that you cannot even question my wisdom you cannot even near the shadows of my wisdom therefore you better fall in the covenant you better fall under my wings of safety and protection and no harm shall befall you My beloved brothers and sisters, this is a closing note. Today as a conclusion what I'm trying to say here is, there are a lot of us in this world as Christians living with traditional practices which comes from our forefathers. and we do not even know that they are right or wrong and what can help us to understand whether we are marching in the right direction or not is this Bible. By saying this, I, neither God or anyone in the Bible have told that you should not read Old Covenant. Old Covenant is very much needed. Why? Because that's like getting a learner's driving license, LLR before you get the actual driving license. it's a kind of a practice a methodology that's been put in place to bring some discipline, to bring some culture, to bring some mindset to bring some kind of attitude and discipline and thereafter it is going to be refined it's an enriching process, new covenant is full of enriching process, that's why people who read only new covenant they won't be staying there for too long they won't be very stable and consistent there will be one roaring wave hits them and they will fall down Because they are laying the foundation on the sand, not on the rocky ground. The rocky ground is old covenant upon which you need to build your superstructure. And therefore you need to read old covenant and also the new covenant. But the old covenant is not abolished. It is fulfilled and extended into the new covenant. And God the Father says that I have forgiven all the sins of your past. That is old. And now you have come into the new covenant. The new covenant is all about forgiveness, compassion, mercy. But a true child of God will never misuse the new covenant. He or she will understand the value behind the grace, the sacrifice behind the grace, the sacrifice behind that blood that was shed for the mankind by our Lord Jesus. And they will always try to honor the sins they committed in the past. They will never return back. Neither will they invent any new methods of sins or types of sins. They will stay away from sins and they will resist the devil. James 4, 7. The devil shall flee away from them. That's the power and authority that you and I receive in the new covenant.
