Greetings, Classic Cinema and TV fans. This is Pastor Jay here with you once again bringing you another Top 5 Countdown. These Top 5s are a little bit different from our usual Top 7s, but we've been trying to kind of bring them a little bit closer so we don't make these videos too long. So we're actually giving you top five releases, this time around from Kino Lorber. I have been really loving getting to review Kino Lorber releases. They are doing amazing, amazing things. And wow, I'm looking forward to 2021. Good stuff coming, really good stuff coming. But we want to give a little bit of love to Kino Lorber for their amazing, amazing releases of 2020. And so many that could be on this list, but you can't when you got only five spots, you know. So let's jump right into it. Many of us probably know John Belushi, maybe from films like Animal House or from Blues Brothers, or maybe you know John Belushi from SNL, or maybe you just know the tragedy of his tragic ending of his life. I don't know how you maybe remember John Belushi, but we all remember probably John Belushi. A really, really funny guy with a very, very tragic end to his life. But Keanu Lorber has done something very, very amazing here. They have released for the first time on Blu-ray ever, Continental Divide. This is not a typical John Belushi film. John Belushi is known for playing these crazy off-the-wall characters. These ones that you just sit back and you go, what? We know him from Blues Brothers, from The Neighbors, from 1941, from Animal House, from all these different crazy things. But this is not a typical crazy character John Belushi. No, this is actually where John Belushi got to show that he could act. this is Continental Divide and this is where he's playing kind of a political writer you know columnist and he gets into some major trouble and is gonna and they people are trying to get after him so his editor tries to send him away to kind of keep safe for a little bit well when he goes away he meets and falls for this mountain woman, if you will. And she's a person that categorizes birds and does all this type of stuff and everything And they fall in love They kind of have this relationship But then he has to leave Well when he goes back to Chicago not long after that she comes to Chicago to do a speech on all this and they meet up again, and will they fall in love and stay together? Well, you'd have to watch the film to find out, we're not going to tell you that. but John Belushi is amazing in this it just shows John Belushi could have really done some amazing things in acting but sadly this was his second to last film this one and then The Neighbors and then he tragically died but wow this is just so amazing the reason we put this at number 5 on the list is because it is the first time ever on Blu-ray, and it looks amazing. It is awesome. The audio commentary is also a very, very nice treat. We know we learn all kinds of back and behind the scenes stuff about John Belushi, about the production, about the movie itself, all kinds of stuff. It's just a great release. Now, I love Dragnet. I just love that old show Dragnet. And just the facts, man. Just the facts. I love that old show. It just is amazing. Well, Kino Lorber did something I never dreamed we would ever see in 2020, and that is we got the Dragnet movie. Now, this is not Tom Hanks. No, this is not Dan Aykroyd. Oh, no, no, no, no. This is the original Dragnet movie. Wow. While Dragnet, the TV series, was going on, Jack Webb, the original Joe Friday, decided to make a movie of Dragnet. And wow, what an amazing release this is. It is so cool to see Dragnet on Blu-ray, the movie on Blu-ray. Unbelievable stuff. In this release, you get your two different... Now, this is the cool thing. You get two different versions of this film. You get the full screen version and you get the widescreen version. So if you like that, remember the full screen version with all this type of black bars on the side. You can enjoy it that way. Or if you prefer to have the widescreen version, you can do that. It's so, so cool. We also get audio commentary. series uh i'm gonna get uh the trailer i mean it's just amazing really a great release um what you love in the old uh dragnet tv series is all here and more it is so cool and i i can't say how much i love this release this is just so cool i love having this in my collection uh alongside all my dragnets just right there boom right on the shelf alongside all the dragnets that is so cool Now Keynote Lower Burr does a lot of collections right And we have two collections that made the list this year this is the rock hudson collection look at how beautiful that box is in that amazing looking box i love that i love the the the hue in the background of uh rock hudson there it's just so cool this is three blu-ray movies from the great rock hudson very very cool amazing, amazing set of Rock Hudson stuff. Now, you can read our whole written review of all these because we don't have time to go through all these. So we're going to just go through these really fast here because we've got so much to get through. In this collection, we get The Golden Blade, a swashbuckling adventure from Rock Hudson. Very, very cool. Also, you get Seminole, very awesome film here, kind of an Old West or Older West, I guess, not Old West, but anyway, very, very cool release there. And then the third one we get is Bengal Brigade. Very, very awesome war picture, old war picture, if you will. So very, very cool. A bunch of great releases. And that's why we put the Rock Hudson collection on Blu-ray at number three of our top five releases of 2020 for Kino Lorber. Another collection, the Cary Grant collection. Another classic collection of old films now on Blu-ray from Kino Lorber. Very, very cool stuff. Love this. In this collection, we get Wedding Present. These are old films from the 30s from Cary Grant. Big brown eyes. Very cool. And ladies should listen. These are just old films from back in the day of when Cary Grant was a little more slapstick comedy type of character. And I really enjoyed that character that he was, that real wacky kind of character. And so seeing these, this is the first time I ever saw these films was from this release. So this is very, very cool. If you've never seen these films, I do highly suggest picking this one up. You've got to check this out. They look amazing. Keaton Lorber does an amazing job with these box sets, too. I mean, I just love it. Just really, really cool. Awesome stuff. so yeah great stuff, that's why we put Cary Grant collection number two on the top five releases of 2020 from Kino Lorber and we are down to number one now as we said Kino Lorber has done amazing things you should go to KinoLorber.com and check out their big huge collection of releases amazing stuff so many great stuff that can make the list just because there only five spots But definitely do that Go check that out Now coming in at number one what do you think it is Hmm. That's right. Buck Rogers, the complete collection. You know this had to be number one. You know it had to be number one. It had to be. It had to be number one. This one is just so amazing. I've done a video, a podcast about this, all kinds of good stuff about this, and we've talked in great detail of this, as well as reviewed this on retroac.blogspot.com. But this is just such an amazing release. It had to be number one. You know it had to be number one. I love that poster art there on the front cover. I just think that is the coolest thing ever. Oh, it's just so cool. On the back, you get this type of a thing, you know, the way it looks in the back. Very, very cool. But what makes this release number one? Well, simply because you get all of this. You get season one, the complete first season. You get the second season of Buck Rogers. Then what is really cool about this is we get the theatrical movie as well. My goodness. This is just amazing. And I have to say, this is so much of an upgrade from the original DVD release. There's no comparison. It looks that much better. I am so glad we got to upgrade this to Blu-ray because I love this series. I really enjoyed it. It's cheesy, but in a really fun way. There are some films that are just cheesy, and they just are just yucky cheesy, you know? And then there's cheesy stuff that is just endearing, and this is endearing.
